Good lord, they're that high.....i would literally faint if this one touches the 2m admissions mark....only reserved for extremely powerful launches....

I want to see Transformers burn Simpsons....
I've told you that SIMPSONS is gonna be big here... I see somewhere between 5m-8m tix total... Possibly the No. 1 movie of the year...

That's bloody ridiculous....8m tix for something as shit as this.....god please no.....i would rather see Shrek 3 go to #1 than Simpsons.....

Well, because of the short running time either PIRATES 3 or HP5 will probably gross more (overlength charge), so in US-$ SIMPSONS probably won't make it to No. 1 of the year...

Either Potter 5 or Pirates 3 should take out this year......if only Transformers was as popular in Europe...

It's drops so far in Europe don't give me confidence at all....

It's at $350m.........needs $250m, i think it's doable. It has only lauched in about 3/4 of all available territories... ;)

They still add up.....Japan alone can potentially add another $60-90m ;)

Everything over 600M is very good, considering GOF barely made it to that mark and many thought (and still think) summer and HP don't get along.

7 million in Russia is a pretty good opening particularly taking into account that GoF goessed only about 8 million in its entire run.

Lucky to pass 600m$ in OS??....i am amazed by the denial of some people here.....so far its outgrossing most of the HP flicks in most markets....so far either OOTP is outgrossing GOF in most markets or almost on par with it in some markets.....so 600m$ is the minimum it should do in OS...its not even a question.....

If you look at it that way, then yes...it's a monster opening.

Still, considering the growth in Russia, this opening to me is just great not super

HP5 is doing much better in Asia this time around, should account for a lot.

Let's see how it handles Simpsons first....pretty much aiming at the same audience....also, after reading the 7th Book (or still reading it)....kids may have enough of Potter and move onto something else... :shades: ......

The thing is that the highest grossed HP movie in Russia is The Chamber of Secrets. The third and fourth movies actually grossed less than it despite huge growth of the market. That's why it's doing much better than I expected.

Looks like weekend cume and total were a little underestimated. 102.5 million weekend and 353.2 million total.

hp5 has 20.8 million in Canada and will easily pass TF 22.1 million by next weekend i think.

Hp5 2 week total beats AWE 3 week total
Hp5 is only 0.2 million behind spiderman 3 in Canada at this time. I think Hp5 will easily pass 31 million and beat Spiderman 3 and become number of this year.

AWE at 27 million and shrek 3 at 29 million.

lol in the US hp5 will be number 5 but in Canada it will be number 1 or 2!!! What a difference.

Yes it would...dont laugh...but its being called...the matrix......rebooted :hahaha: and the general idea involves morpheous "rebooting" neo n Trinity as da machinez return.

That'd be the biggest flop ever, or close to it.

The thing is that the highest grossed HP movie in Russia is The Chamber of Secrets. The third and fourth movies actually grossed less than it despite huge growth of the market. That's why it's doing much better than I expected.

The real Thing, billy, is that before showing your stupidity to everyone, you better check your facts (or brains, if you have some). The highest grossing HP movie in Russia and CIS is GOF with $9+ m.
COS grossed $8.1 m. with Ukraine (they didn't exclude Ukraine at the time) and GOF grossed $7.8 without Ukraine - and despite the fact that on kinopoisk.ru both numbers are in the same list of 'the highest grossing movies in Russia', you can't compare apples to oranges.

The only reason why GOF grossed only $9+ m. is that it opened against NARNIA (they opened on the same day and Narnia killed it). And since there was NO NARNIA opening against OOTP, that's why it's doing much better than YOU expected. Have you ever heard of, mmm, logic?
