What's your point? All big movies would look less impressive if you take away their midnights.

Sith has a 35 million opening day minus midnights. That's less, and went on to gross well over 300 million. Hmmmmmmm

All 3 prequels also had multipliers OVER 3.5, all grossed over $300 mil, and all dropped less than 50% in their second weekend.

Only Sorcerers Stone had a multiplier OVER 3.0, only Sorcerers Stone grossed over $300 mil, and only Sorcerers Stone and GoF dropped less than 50% on their 2nd weekends.

I still don't get your point about it making a "mere" 36 million taking out midnights. Shall we stop counting midnights then? I think if we do that you'll find 36 million is quite high.

I know $36 mil is high. But people go insane and predict outrageous $60 mil OD predictions.

Of course you NEED midnights to reach that level, but people make it out to be something it's not.

I think that may have been it's "increase" for the night.

 Ive come a long away since the superman days

As for Potter....the fact that it did double gof's midnights means it could do no less than 45 million. add in its a saturday n sel louts; opening dasy minumum is 50 million; so its ratio was most would be 130.

Looks like we're heading for 7,000 reviews and a ratio of about 150. That would put its OD at $47M. That seems reasonable to me.

No, $47M including midnights. If xiauyn is indeed right (he usually is) about 150 being the high end, then you can tack on $7-8M to that.

So with a 150 ratio, we are looking at about $44m including midnight.

Wasn't GOF around 6,131 user ratings in the same time frame?....so does that mean OOTP barely grossed past 40m$?...looks like 40-41m$....

Yes, but OOTP still has 2 more updates. Should get around 6700/6800. It also doubled GOF's midnights.

So...I'm sure it means somthing.

I'll say 44-47, anywhere in there. 45.5 is my guess.

No wait, I think that was GOF's total.

Someone else probably knows tho. Maybe it was 6400.

Goblet had 5749 at the second-to-last update, and 6006 at the final update (comparing 3:30am to 3:30am; for some reason, we went up to 4:30am that night).

One more update, and it will finish with close to 6,600. The night pace isn't super impressive, so probably won't deviate much from the 150 ratio. $43.5m.

I'm thinking a 7000 total.

Which, if it had around a 170 ratio, would only mean $42 mil OD.

Which would technically mean only $30 day, with the $12 mil midnights.

Intriguing. Let's hope I'm right ;)

Another 2,200 for Transformers today, a very impressive number.

EDIT: but doesn't look like it means anything. :)
