Some questions on Spanglish with SPOILERS
On Spanglish, James Brooks really did the opposite of As Good as it Gets where you have the nice ending as the couple are together.
But in Spanglish, he really left it open.
The ending was so open ending - What is going to happen?
---------
- At the end, Sandler is outside waiting and wanting to drive her ( leave his wife? )
- She says NO but then she whispers a word to him that I MISSED - Did anyone hear.
------
Also she implied and said she loved him, on the safe couch, and it looked like he was ready to say it back before she ran away.
---------
And Sandler didn't seem like he could forgive the wife, wanted to drive Paz Vega, etc. I just don't see him returning to the marriage?
---------
Anyway how can you trust, love and stay with someone who had an affair unless you just don't think much of yourself.
-----------
Those are just some comments that hit me from the movie and ALSO are important in the real world if you spouse cheated on you.

She whispered "Mi Amor" which is My Love in spanish :-$
Oh, and I think what he wants you to do is think of your own ending. It ends very well and it gives you the option of fantasizing about what could happen

Sandler and what he will do is hard.
I think he loved his wife deeply and was willing to forgive her for just about everything she would do to him, but you could see for the first time when she cheated on him, that it had changed. I think there is hope for them mainly because of the kids.
Sandler and Flor wont be getting together. She too loves her child to much. She doesn't want her daughter growing up to be a different person with diffrent values than what she was taught. That is where Sandlers wife comes in, she is meant to be the woman who portrays everything that Flor does not want her daughter to be. When she races Sandlers wife, that is the beginning of the end for her. She tries to confrom, because she loves her daughter, but she knows she can not compete with them, and doesn't want to.
Because of this, she can't be with sandler. I think the whole movie revolves around the love of ones children. Because of that to answer your questions, both the answers would revolve around that love. Sandler would stay with his wife, and Flor would never see him again, regardless of her love for him.

Thanks, that helps. For her, it is almost like a love see can't have - at least since he is married.
And I agree with Eagle also, I didn't think with the ending, Sandler will leave the wife - he probably will stay in the marriage but that marriage won't be the same. Almost like he is o0n the other side of the fence.
----------
But when he asked to drive her, what if she said yes - so was him asking to drive her, Sandler asking her if they wanted to be together?

He always asked to drive her.
It was part of his personality, he is a gentleman and doesnt want her walking. At the same time the car is a vehicle for his frustration, his confusion, the car is his way of keeping his marriage with his wife together, so it is complicated.
The connection is there, let me drive you, and we can work this out the way I use the car to work out things with my wife. But she says no, because she feels the need to shelter her child, she even givs her kid the choice, saying do you want to be like them or me. I think her child chose for her.
