Book 6 is one of my least favorite books, but it's actually the most cinematic I think.

Loved it. Wonderfully dark movie, Yates got even the kids to turn in good performance and for the first time a Potter movie didn't feel like a "best of"-show but worked as an actually movie. I get why the backlash because they left big portions of the book out which upsets the nutjobs, but as a movie it is clearly the best so far...

Actually I felt it refers to a certain someone who died in Book 6. I fully expect him to come back in Book 7 and the person who killed him will be redeemed

I again need to reinstate that I loved this movie. There was plenty to absorb during the first 90 minutes. I'm glad there wasn't tons of action. Loved the characters for the first time. I loved the internal struggle harry is going through. It's more emotional and more psychological.

I loved the little grumpy thing that lived with Sirius. I loved Helene Boham Carter. I loved when Dumbledore turns into that fiery phoenix to escapae incarceration. Loved the little flirting thing Harry got going with the Chen girl. Loved the rebellious element of the young adult wizards. LOVED Dolores. I imagined Bree from Desparate Housewives and her being great friends. lol

I don't understand why some of you couldn't enjoy the movie. but oh well. I'm gonna go see it again tonight I think :-)

Rewatched the movie today with no annoying Potter fanatics and it is much better on second viewing. I haven't read the books in a very long time so I'm basing this on the movie alone, not on how faithful the movie was to the book.

Pros
+ Last 30 minutes of the movie were fantastic. Best 30 minutes of any HP movie to date
+ Inner struggle within Harry was pulled off well.
+ Professor Umbridge. I absolutely hated that woman within 15 minutes of her being introduced. Good job on that part
+ Visuals. Loved the atmosphere Yates created. Well done
+ Lune Lovegood. Well played
+ Flashbacks and dreams were well done
+ Montages were done well

Cons
- Very poor pacing in the middle of the movie
- Acting seemed to have taken a step backwards
- Felt like Ron and Hermione were making cameos basically
- More time could have been spent on character development
- Felt a little rushed


Overall: 7.5/10 B+

I don't get the love for Umbridge. I just wanted to slap the the woman. She's incredibly annoying and devoid of any real menace, She's like a slightly nuts copy of Hyacinth Bucket.

And if thats the whole point of her character then damn its a bad character.

I've talked to 3 family members and 2 friends who haven't read the book. One of my family members who didn't see the third movie was lost, but everybody else said that they thought this one was the most straightforward since maybe Chamber.

I ask them because I can never tell because I know what's going on most of the time.

Well I love those cat plates then.

No joke, it did rise that much. But I think it may have been due to a couple factors outside of the control of the movie. A) I was coming off the high from Transformers. I hadn't had that much fun in a movie in a long time so when I went to watch Potter I felt incredibly bored. My fault on that one. I was expecting HP5 to be something the series never was. B) The Potter fans were incredibly annoying that night. Normally I have no problem with fans of movies but these Potter fans were annoying. So I went today to a 12:55 PM show. It was about 35% full of families and older people. The audience wasn't obnoxious like it was last week and I enjoyed myself more. The flaws of the movie were still present but the positives started to shine a lot more.

Annoying how? Serious question, I mean I've never experienced movies with packs of baying fans before.

I am giving up on making threads here with poll options.

I could go on forever but here's just a couple examples

1. If you go to an AMC you know that before a movie starts there is a little messege that says "please don't add your own soundtracks" and they have a bunch of random noises. Two girls behind me started to imitate those noises.

2. Screaming when the WB logo came on. Now this has happened before during Star Wars when the Lucasfilm logo came on screen, but this was obnoxious screaming.

3. Screaming when Harry Potter came on screen. A bunch of girls started screaming about how much they loved Harry

4. Two girls in front of me started arguing over who he is cuter Harry or Ron. Went on for about 5 minutes.

5. Some guys behind me started to argue over whether Harry was going to die in book 7.

6. Middle of the movie the guy next to me whacked me with his "wizard" hat when he turned his head to talk to his friend

I don't know if it's possible, but it would be nice to be able to change your grade later on.

No wonder you gave it an F first time around.

Speevy, honestly, if the fans bug you so much, why don't you go to see movies on like a Saturday or a Sunday?

Fans dont bug me at all. I love watching movies with the die hard fans because of how much energy there is in the crowd. Of all the big event movies this summer I've watched all of them during their 8 pm/12 am showing. It was just that this crowd was incredibly annoying but hopefully the experience was just an anomaly.

Those fans do sound nuts. I mean I had some weirdos when I went but they were worse before the movie started. Otherwise they just did the typical fan stuff clap loudly, laugh loudly, etc. That sounds like the worse audience I have heard of. I see how that would have effected your grade.

I had a similar crowd (people were cheering and catcalling at the Harry/Cho kiss, stuff like that) but it didn't ruin the movie for me. I love seeing fanbase movies with fanboy crowds, it makes it so much more enjoyable.

Fanboys are fun to be with. When I went to Die Hard people in the back started whistling when Bruce Willis started kicking the shit out of Maggie Q. That was amusing. The audience at Harry Potter was the exact opposite of the crowd at Die Hard. It's just annoying when people start arguing about who's cuter Ron or Harry. I didn't get a good look at the girls but I was disgusted that either of those would even be considered good looking.

There were actually girls debating that Ron is in any way, shape or form cute? Were they retarded or half-blind?

I didn't get a good look at them because I literally ran to the bathroom the minute all the action from the ministry of magic scene ended. But I don't think there's any doubt that they were probably 200 pound lards.

Ron is getting cuter. Still Harry is the hotter one.
