I'm not sure whether to classify it as 2004 or 2005, since technically, it hasn't come out yet in the US. But that's beside the point. The movie itself was fantastic. One of the most interesting, suspensful, and entertaining action/thrillers I've ever seen. This exceeded all my expectations. The movie literally leaves you guessing until the end, and then more twists are thrown into the mix. They did a damn good job of that, too. Though I always had a hunch on who the killer was. Anyways, it was fantastic.

Started Ran last night, finished it this morning. Loved it. First Kurosawa l can say l;ve seen, and a great place to start. absolutely beatiful, and completely engaging, engrossing and enthralling. (ok, so theyre all basically the same...whatever), especially for someone not familiar with King Lear. but yeah, brilliant, epic, wonderful. A+

Wasn't it though? I've watched it 1-1/2 times myself, and plan to go see it again in theaters when it is finally released. It really is very good, and I was guessing all the way to the end who the killer ways. Its great how (spoiler hidden) they keep you guessing as to who it is, making you suspect its one person, but at the end you discover it is really someone else (end spoiler). My grade would be a 7/10 or B+.

Today I watched 2 movies, one in the early early hours of day.

Warriors - coolest movie ever! Atleast I thought so some 10-15 years ago. But even after seeing it now, I still feel it's a damn fine movie, one of my favorites for sure. A

School of Rock - meh, didn't like it as much as many people from here or BOM did. Had some good humour, and even the songs...but but! Jack Black was damn annoying to me.

The Door in the Floor is about love... like 99% of movies ever made. But it is more about the responsibility of love and the committment of a marriage in decline.

It is a confused movie that has problems with its tone and focus (the POV changes like 5 times), it goes into a 15 minute comedy spree during the most dramatic point of the movie, it also features a lot of overacting that all feels like it seeps out of the same screenplay. The actors seem to have one voice.

Overall, the story is just about manipulative people doing really inapproriate and manipulative things. It didn't really reach out to me from any angle, there was nothing to hold on to, just watch the madness happen.

Jeff Bridges is the standout... his semi-crazy and very eccentric children's author cum artist creates and is put in interesting situations... you expect him to go off at any second and just delve into madness.

The best thing about this film however, is the brilliant score by Marcelo Zarvos.

The most telling thing is, I don't know, or I don't care what's under The Door in the Floor.

Day 3: Princess Diaries 2 - Royal Engagement - B+

Cute movie.. I enjoyed it a lot more than the first. I wasn't expecting much before watching it, so it did surprise me.

One of my friends managed to get a copy of In Good Company AND Million Dollar Baby. He's sending them to me right now...I can't wait.

So, I'll probably watch one of those tonight. If not, nothing.

More blood, gore and beheadings, but unfortunately not more substance. There's still the cheesy dialogue, the pathetic comic relief attempts, the bad acting and the plain ridiculous storyline. Not only Merlin is missing the magic, but the whole movie is. The sole standout sequence is the battle scene on the ice, other than that there's nothing to admire (okay, maybe Keira's looks).

I admire the fact that you can be a huge Keira fan and maintain an unbiased look when watching her films. I'm going to watch In Good Company tonight, and, when I do, I'm almost 100% positive that I'm gonna love it, only because Scarlett's in it and her looks can distract any human when the movie itself is bad (Okay, I haven't YET seen The Perfect Score, but that might be the sole exception).

If that wasn't the case, I would have big problems being a film critic :wink:
