Can't wait!!!

What trailers did they show infront of it?

They didn't show anything new in front of Transformers

- Stardust
- Rush Hour 3 (probably the most noise, though it's not saying much since the majority of the cinema was filled with boys)
- Die Hard 4
- Harry Potter

Transformers so reminds me of those event pics of the 90s like Jurassic Park and ID4. Im thinking this can match ID4's gross domestically but probably not worldwide. What a shame there is way too much product out there and each film is hurting the other.

I wanted to stop them, but was afraid they may bomb me instead of staying on topic

Welcome! They wouldn't bomb you... Their both great kids.

They are of course, we need to suck up to them or else there will be no more insights into the German or Polish BO for the rest of us  ;)

That's true. :hahaha:

Your predictions were off, i thought it was better than the score you predicted earlier ;)

Okay, was it like a typical MB film?

Sort of, though i think it's above his usual action fair....could be Spielberg's doing who knows.... ;)

Okay. I'm lowering my expectations right now then...

Are you sure you want to trust me, i'm not a huge follower of Bay so i'm not exactly sure of the standard u are referrign to

You know, initially i was about to put down alot more pluses but then decided against it since it would have blown the page width. ;)

I think you summed it up perfectly.......as big as the grosses become nowadays, it's harder to be the single biggest event movies like Jurassic Park or ID4 or any of the early 90s blockbusters was.

Though take these gems wherether possible......for one gem, there's a dozen blunders

And yes - If this is that one blockbuster standout of Summer 07 then Im happy.

"Live Free" opens in Germany, Japan, Russia and Scandinavia, with France, Mexico and the U.K. launching the following weekend. Expectations are fairly high, with the last film in the franchise, "Die Hard: With a Vengeance," taking in more than $260 million for BVI outside the U.S.

Par is launching Michael Bay's "Transformers" into Australia, Italy, New Zealand, South Korea and half a dozen other Asian markets.

Also going day-and-date in some territories is "Ratatouille," which BVI unspools in Chile, Colombia, Russia and the Ukraine. Pixar releases have performed well outside the U.S., and the pic's Paris setting may help it gain traction in foreign markets.

"Evan Almighty," which has opened in Russia and the Ukraine only, goes into Lithuania, while Quentin Tarantino's "Death Proof" opens in Hong Kong, its 11th market. Foreign grosses for the latter have totaled a modest $10 million, mostly from France and Italy.

==========================

Just occured to me that Shrek 3 and Die Hard 4 will be opening on the same weekend in Japan, should be a strong week. Die hard 4 should do very well, though Shrek as bad as it is, will still be a solid grosser....

Strong week in Japan. S3 will probably be 3rd and DH4 2nd.

Well there's no doubt in my mind that it's going to be hard for anything to be it this year, at least for me.

In terms of box-office, all it needs is a solid opening and the good reviews will help its legs...

I just saw it too. ExpectedLy..the visuaL FX just bLew me away, its the best I've seen since WotW. By the Looks of it and the pretty unsatisfying ending, there's absoLuteLy going to be a second, third and maybe a fourth fiLm. My grade: "A/A-" for now.

As for its OS gross, I was thinking it wiLL end up right around Armageddon, tDAT, and WotW's numbers with 350-360+m.

Okay fellas, things got better in Melbourne on Opening Day. It's currrently almost 11pm now....and Transformers actually racked up some sellouts in the Village/Roadshow chain of cinemas....always a good sign

Thursday:

Knox (13 sessions) - 7:30pm, 8:30pm
Sunshine (12 sessions) - 4:30pm
Southland (11 sessions) - 8:30pm
Crown Casino (10 sessions) - 7:30pm, 8:30pm
Jam Factory (9 sessions) - no sellouts
Fountain Gate (9 sessions) - 5:30pm, 6:30pm, 8:30pm
Century City (9 sessions) - 4:30pm, 7:30pm
Dandenong (9 sessions) - no sellouts
Airport West (9 sessions) - no sellouts
Karringal (8 sessions) - 6:30pm
Geelong (8 sessons) - no sellouts
Morwell (8 sessions) - no sellouts

Of course this is nowhere near Pirates 3 or Spiderman 3. Though it did have more sellouts than Shrek 3, but that movie had at least 50% more sessions per day in most cinemas.

This is promising, it at least shows that the afternoon and night sessions are getting good capacity. I think an opening day above $1m is likely. Ideally it would need an opening day above AUD$1.5m to be a good bet for $7m+ opening weekend

AUSTRALIA - Friday (Day 2)

Knox (13 sessions) - 5:30pm, 6:30pm, 7:30pm, 8:30pm, 9:30pm
Sunshine (12 sessions) - no sellouts
Southland (12 sessions) - 4:30pm
Crown Casino (11 sessions) - 6:30pm, 7:30pm, 10:30pm
Jam Factory (9 sessions) - 10pm
Fountain Gate (9 sessions)
Century City (9 sessions) - 9:30pm
Dandenong (9 sessions) - no sellouts
Airport West (9 sessions) - no sellouts
Karringal (8 sessions) - no sellouts
Geelong (8 sessons) - no sellouts
Morwell (8 sessions) - no sellouts

So yeah, on par with these cinemas....doing really well at Knox, one of the larger complexes in the outer suburbs of melbourne.

12 sellouts yesterday, 11 today...

Nothing to be concerned about, those night session today are probably more packed then yesterday, with work out for the weekend and school out. also, the bigger cinemas are the one listed above, with the most sessions. some of them added an extra session per day.

I'm thinking it could be similar to yesterday's gross...we'll hopefully see tomorrow.

Knox has to be one of the busiest cinemas in Melbourne. The lines last weekend were ridiculous and also when Pirates opened it was the same.

Yep, it's definately the biggest in the outer suburbs and houses VMAX, some of the largest screens in Melbourne.

Personally I've never been to Knox as I live closer to the city.....would've love to go onee day....you know, see a big blockbuster on VMAX...

Had a chance to see this a short while ago too. Completely blew me away.
There is so much to like/love about this movie that i dont know where to begin. The effects are some of the best ive ever seen, simply amazing.
Certainly left me wanting more thats for sure so hopefully a sequel will happen. Grade would be around A-. Cant wait to watch it again.

Junghee, Lee at BOM forums has reported a admissions take of 304,000 opening day in South Korea.

That's pretty awesome beating Pirates 3, it looks to have a great opening weekend there.

AUSTRALIA (AUD$) - Opening Day

Brilliant start to week. Transformers opening to approximately $2m in Australia, one of the largest opening days of all-time and the largest non-sequel/franchise opening day ever.

It was up at least 67% over WOTWs Wednesday opening and 9% ahead of Terminator 3's opening day. What's so great is that it's this year's 2nd largest opening day so far, beating Shrek 3 and Spiderman 3....falling just short of Pirates 3. If it follows the same weekend multiplier as Spiderman 3 (AUD$9.5m opening weekend), it's headed for an opening weekend close to $10.5m. I'm not sure if it'll be as ferocious as Spiderman over the week, since that movie caters for a more family friendly crowd (Transformers would've exhausted its core fanbase in the first couple of days).....though it should open to at least $8m opening weekend with $9-10m more likely. Stay tuned.

AUSTRALIA (AUD$) - Opening Day

Brilliant start to week. Transformers opening to approximately $2m in Australia, one of the largest opening days of all-time and the largest non-sequel/franchise opening day ever.

Do you really think a 5x IM is possible? Doubt it.

Transformers OD sold 315,000 tickets!!

that is bigger than POTC3 308,000 tickets.

This movie might end up doing $450-550 million overseas with such openings. This will be one of those franchises whose first movie does $800-900 million worldwide HOLY SHIT.

I think it will do amazing in my country India. If F42 can beat its predecessor in India in two weeks then Tranformers should be able to do $4-5 million in India.

Transformer's second place for Australia won't last long. OOTP will defintely make more money than Pirates when it opens in a week and a half.
