Post The Best Animated Picture Oscar 2007
Well, Ratatouille is a lock to get nominated and to win. Simply a lock. The acclaim is there, box-office will be there too and Pixar did not win last year.

The question is: what will the other two nominees be?

Those stand a chance, IMO:

The Simpsons Movie
Bee Movie
Bewoulf
Surf's Up
Shrek The Third

Surf's Up has the reviews, but doesn't have the box-office.

Shrek The Third has bad reviews, but that didn't stop Shark Tale from being nominated either.

My current guesses for the other two nominees are:

The Simpsons Movie
Beowulf (in an attempt to make up for The Polar Express' snub)

Heh, I keep forgetting Cars lost the Oscar last year. That was quite the shocker (Though rightful, IMO). But yeah, that only helps Ratatouille's case.

Your other two predictions look right, though I could see Seinfeld's name recognition getting Bee Movie in.

Is Paprika eligible? That would be cool.

And I'd love Shrek 3 not to get a nom...but I think it will, even though it was god-awful.

Beowulf might get in as an alternative to the kid's flicks. Shrek 3 will probably be the other one.

I'd love to see Beowulf in the running. But nothing stands a chance to beat Ratatouille.

I think Bee Movie gets in. Trailer looks good, and it'll be a bigger hit than Beowolf most likely.

Remember Polar Express? Never underestimate Robert Zemeckis.

Do I?!?!?

I still have nightmares from those thousands of freakin' creepy elves, and those even scarier children...

Hey, just because Pixar makes only fantastic movies doesn't mean you have to go around pissing and moaning about it.

I've heard mixed things. I thought it pulled out last year, that's why the nominations went to 3. And since it was released this year, you'd think it'd be eligible. But someone on IMDb told me it's not.
It deserves Best Picture, for it to not even get an Animated nod is ridiculous.

Noooo.

The nominations went to 3 because there was too much live action in "Arthur and the Invisibles (Minimoys)"

I agree that it deserves a best picture nod, but that would absolutely never happen. Actually, it's the best film I've seen this year besides "The Lives of Others," which doesn't qualify because of it's German release date/foregin film win.

Not sure the point here. Polar Express wasn't nominated.

He meant financial success. Shack said that Bee Movie will be a bigger hit and thus have a better chance.

That said, Beowulf is certainly less marketable than The Polar Express.

Well, Ratatouille is a lock. The Simpsons will get in as long as it gets mildly positive reviews. I could see Beowulf getting a nom, but I think that it might be too "different" for the Academy's tastes and Bee Movie will get the third spot.

I'd be surprised if Ratatouille doesn't win though.
