Did I miss this while I was gone last week? It's now PG-13 again? I just saw a TV spot and I have to say I'm kind of bummed out. I'm still anticipating the film because James and Sandler are hilarious and it looks like it's going to be the funniest film of the summer, but the R rating was intriguing.

You shouldn't be. If they cut it down to PG-13 it just means there was maybe one thing in there that made it rated R and is still a typical sandler movie, not anything all that new.

I think it was obvious from the beginning when it didn't look like they were happy with the R rating.

One thing? Wasn't this the third try to get it down after they gave up on it for like a month?

Well if they were aiming for PG-13, then Wedding Crashers it wasn't going to be, is what I'm saying.

I know. Still, it would've been something different. So does anyone know when it was changed?

Recently, but Universal had been clear that they were always aiming for a PG-13 release, much like say Norbit's re-rating.

I know, but I thought they had just given up.

I never heard about any other attempts aside from this one, but it wouldn't surprise me if it did take more than a few tries.

It was probably one major scene in the film that was worthy of an R-rating, so eventually the studio reluctantly wound up cutting it or something...
