Ouch, that's the first really negative review i've seen. Are you sure it's not just your taste. Even the hardest critics on these boards are at least giving it a mix rating.

A spammer? , seems to be a lot lately
I don't mind these negative reviews, just as long as the majority of previews are positive i'll be satisfied for this movie. THat is asuming i love the movie myself

If this movie doesn't do $2 million OW it will be considered a flop.
Well it better do those sorts of numbers on opening weekend, its only playing card.
The Top 7 largest openings are as follows...Casino Royale did extremely well, hopefully Transformers can get up to the $3m region.
Spiderman 3 - $4,481,772 (588)
James Bond: Casino Royale - $3.3m (427)
Mangal Pandey: The Rising - $3m (600) or $5m week
Pirates Of The Caribbean 2: Dead Man’s Chest - $1.8m (65)
Spiderman 2 - $1,643,495 (Rs 7.7 crore - $40,223 on 2 in IMAX - 303p/325sc)
Superman Returns - $1.49m (899,038 adms. - 274)
Pirates Of The Caribbean 3: At World’s End - $1.4m (314)

This film is going to do great numbers domestically, but really will be amazing OS.
I'm not going to argue with you on the Domestic takes....though i think it can do more.
But you are off on the overseas prediction, it's too high. You can't get to $400m without strong support from Europe, this unfortunately doesn't look like it'll play to uber blockbuster standards there.
Unless it pulls an Independence Day, unlikely, it'll be in the $300-400m range.

Overseas, people really like that. And Transforemrs is all about CGI/FX. I think it can pull an ID4 honestly overseas.
Well King Kong, WOTWs, TDAT all didn't pass $400m. And they have a wider audience "presumeably" then Transformers.
$440m prediction is even bigger than Casino Royale, are you forgetting how big that movie was in Europe and Asia last year
Japan and South Korea are Transformers major hope, if it does really well there (and I mean really well like $120m in Japan and $40m in South Korea), then I will take your prediction more seriously.

From Korea.....a little bit about Transformers and its presence in the country....
http://koreapopwars.blogspot.com/
So, TRANSFORMERS is one of the big action movies this summer, and Korea is getting it first. Which is rather unusual and cool. Japan has gotten the honors several times over the years (most recently with SPIDER-MAN 3). But Korea is, after all, a sort of home for THE TRANSFORMERS, since the animation on the 1980s TV show and movie was done here -- at both Sunbow Productions and Akom Pictures. I had quite the little nerd-out a few years ago when I went to the Akom office, just south of Seoul, and met Nelson Shin (who also animates much of THE SIMPSONS and did the MY LITTLE PONY movie).
The press screening was this morning, and I believe it was the first screening of the film in the world. Press from all over Asia has been flown in to see the film and interview Michael Bay and the lead actress. There will be some kind of big press conference later this evening, but I must miss it. I am told there will be some kind of big Bumblebee robot there, which could be some quality geeky fun.
Unfortunately, Paramount wants an embargo on stories about the film until June 29 (when the trades publish their reviews). But I think it is safe to say that the film is quite good. And the robots are even cooler than what you have seen in the movie trailers.

Excellent site i must add

Giants Robots > Giant Ape. Though I did look at ID4 numbers and saw it had a 37.5/62.5 breakdown, so maybe I am over-estimating its OS. It probably will be closer to 400m than 450m. But then again....this is giant mother fucking robots.
I don;t think its target demographic will be enough....Independence Day played widely to all audiences.....

Yes, but we're talking about $400m here, this is no easy feet, even in today's standards.....let's take a look at the non-sequels who have made it in the past 5 years....
2006 - The Da Vinci Code - $540.7 (super grosses EVERYWHERE)
2005 - Chronicles of Narnia - $453.1 (family favourite released in the Holiday season)
2003 - Finding Nemo - $524.9 (family favourite positioned smartly just before holidays)
......Transformers hype is of course, nowhere near The Da Vinci Code....

 thanks.
To give a closer description: I have seen about 240 movies in the theatre this year so far. Maybe that helps.
And most of the time, I think most blockbusters suck.

They should have given the production money to the WWF or AI.
I just hope that this film will sink. And I am trying to be objective here. Ouch, that's the first really negative review i've seen. Are you sure it's not just your taste. Even the hardest critics on these boards are at least giving it a mix rating.
Maybe I react allergic to certain political viewpoints. But my impression was that the film was a bad compilation of "Small Soldiers", "Number 5" and "Black Hawk Down".
Sorry I can't go into details, because I subscribed not to publish any review before June 28th.

And the strength of Transformers in Korea will tell us how big it can be in Japan....etc... I am very impressed that you really observe the international market unlike other US-sites who don't care.
I have to admit that I don't have any Transformers-tradition, but from what I learn, I would never been interested in it. For me it's okay if people are fans or players, some play this some play that.
What annoyed me so much was the fact that militarism was so openly glorified and only one scene (last 20 sec.) claimed for show that its all just fun.

They should have given the production money to the WWF or AI.
I just hope that this film will sink. And I am trying to be objective here. Ouch, that's the first really negative review i've seen. Are you sure it's not just your taste. Even the hardest critics on these boards are at least giving it a mix rating. Im sure I know who that is but I cant verify since Im not a mod
Some in here know me from some otehr forum. I can't imagine you know me unless you have different names on different forums.

Though, I'm not doubting you at all. :-D
Welcome to the forums!
Sorry to step out of line, I didn't know that Erasure played Solsbury Hill. Does Peter Gabriel know about that?

Heh, sure he does. They couldn't cover it any other way I think, with all that copyright law. It's pretty good btw, almost as good as Gabriel's version.

Omega is right, Mag. I don't know about the British market (ask Gulli for that) or Italian market (maybe Omni knows more) but I can't see a change for the German market. They even postponed the film into August.
There is no Transformers tradition here.
And without Germany forget the really high numbers. I thonk it counts the same for France.
But I guess Japan and Korea will do well.

The most recent online poll I saw at sina.com put Transformers ahead of HP5 as the more anticipated film. China is going into a blackout period where only domestic films are allowed to open until July 10th, so they choose Transformers to be the first one out of the gate.
