 The Dreamers
The Dreamers Quote: The Dreamers is a 2003 French/British/Italian drama film directed by Bernardo Bertolucci. The screenplay is by Gilbert Adair, based on his own novel The Holy Innocents. The film was an international co-production by companies from France, Italy, and the United Kingdom.
The Dreamers tells the story of an American university student in Paris who, after meeting a peculiar brother and sister who are fellow film enthusiasts, becomes entangled in an erotic conflict. It is set against the backdrop of the 1968 Paris student riots. The film makes several references to various movies of classical and New Wave cinema, incorporating clips from films that are often imitated by the actors in particular scenes.
The Dreamers was controversial in the United States for its depiction of nudity and sexual content, which attracted an NC-17 rating.
The primary language spoken in the film is English, though French and English are spoken interchangeably throughout.

Throughout the end of 2003 and the first half of 2004, I was really anticipating THE DREAMERS. It sounded like a film I'd love, a film that relied mostly on heavy dialogue, that's always a plus for me. Then there's the cast, I love Michael Pitt and Eva Green. There was quite a lot of internet buzz surrounding this one, but mainly due to the film's graphic content and that it was rated NC-17. The movie never came near me, if it did, I was going to try to sneak into it. So I had to wait until July for when it was released on video and DVD, I got it from Netflix. I loved watching the film, it was brilliant, amazingly acted, and had a great story. It's really a film for hardcore movie buffs and nobody else. The general public would be bored to death watching it. Regarding the sex and nudity in the film, there is one or two sex scenes, and neither are very graphic, definetely something that would be in a rated R film. It got an NC-17 because of the nudity. Close up shots of vagina's and erect penis' don't fly by the MPAA.
9/10 (A-)

THE DREAMERS (2004)The trailer to " The Dreamers" underwhelmed me. I really didn't think it looked that great. Thankfully I saw it anyway and was treated to an excellent film. I was very engrossed and didn't want it to end. I usually hate Michael Pitt, but here he actually didn't really bother me. He wasn't bad at all. Eva Green was great as Isabelle. But most impressive was Louis Garrel as Theo. He was superb and oozed sex appeal. I loved the sexual tension between Matthew (Pitt) and Theo. The Dreamers is a sexy and very interesting film. It's nice to see a film that's not afraid of sexuality. Definitely worth checking out, but it's not for everyone. Grade: 8/10 (A-)

I don't really know what to say about it. Lots of sex/nudity but it actually knew how to use it. Hehe. And jsut very well done in all aspects.

I really liked it. It isn't a masterpiece, but it's certainly one of the more interesting films to come out recently - not because it is obscene (it isn't)... but different. Theo was a great character. The three of them were great.

Now that I'm older, I really have grown to appreciate this film and really fall in love with it. It's definitely a movie fan kind of movie. Every shot would make a beautiful photograph. It had great cinematography. Also, all the performances were great. I'd give it a 9/10 (A) now.

 Re: The Dreamers
I'd either give this a 9/10 (A-) or 9/10 (A) now. Great movie. Would love to see a Blu-ray release.

 Re: The Dreamers
Yeah, this is a pretty good movie. I loved the nudity. Eva Green is pretty awesome. Shame she did fuck all of note in the six whole years after Casino Royale. Here's hoping that she's good in 300: Rise of an Empire, she needs to get some tits out in that. It's been a while and I need an update.

 Re: The Dreamers
Green is good in Perfect Sense alongside Ewan McGregor. Shame five people saw it.
