 Strangers is not 7/13 anymore
PresidentPalmer wrote: Captivity goes from competing to 1408 to competing with The Strangers. No Idea what the Strangers is about though.
Strangers has been yanked off of July 13th and is now TBA 2007.
Some services have not updated yet.

Really? Thats unfortunate as I was looking forward to it. July is getting awfully thin on films. I know we have Transformers/Potter - but its funny how late June /early July is glutted but the rest of July left fairly open. Thankfully August looks strong.

Narnia 3 at summer start? What the fuck? How the hell are they going to get it ready in time? Disney once again is going to hurt a franchise by a bad release date. Move it to December 2009.
Step Up 2 was pretty much the most obvious sequel. 12m budget with almost 115m WW. Easy call for Disney.\
Bedtime Stories, Adam Sandler comedy, is coming 12/25/2008. That really has a possibilty to break out like NATM I think if nothing else comes in December 2008.
Up is supposed to be the new Pixar animation for summer 2009. Intriguing.
That is the title of the movie??
if yes, it is complete shit and will be a huge dissapointment at boxoffice.

Well close to back to back. Like Harry Potter.

Hmm, Step Up 2 seems like a sequel that would be released DTV, similar to Save the Last Dance 2 (that was released, wasn't it?)...

If there's any validity to that claim, we'll have Superman 2, Ice Age 3, AND Persia all within 3 weeks. Hollywood has clearly learned nothing from May 2007.

Superman would be the only filmlikely doing over 200 million, and july has far more room then May. That said; there are much stronger rumors that Superman will go December 2009 (most notably mentioned, the studios eyeing december 18th....but well have to see).

So excited for Forgetting Sarah Marshall. I need my Kristen Bell fix. Hopefully it will be her star-making vehicle.

It even has the page from 30 Rock! But most of all, Kristen Bell in a bikini = Me there opening day. Hot damn.
Also, Disney is definitely hoping Sands of Persia pulls a Pirates 1 with that date.

narnia could be a huge flop next year magnus; ya said itr your self-it isnt the kind of films that opens huge. with indiana jones in ts second weekend after a 70-80 3 day, it MIGHT get 250-260. tops. shrek was always a leggy franchise till it ran into a huge sequel. narnia will have that happen to ti next year.

Narnia had good WOM? Really?
And it really doesn't feel like a summer movie. I could see the second one dropping off from the first one, akin to what Azkaban did.
Also the short break between 2 + 3 will hurt it.
Plus the movies will suck.

I was not a fan, but it had good enough legs to virtually steamroll a 220 million film that opened five days later and not drop over 50% for the next 17 weeks... I'd say that warrants good WOM.
The second one will be a monster. Were I a betting man I'd wager that it will also avoid the second/third installments being shot back to back curse better than other recent films.

I agree, Narnia's WoM (and DVD sales) was huge.
