Post Revolutionary Road - How big will it be?
Release Date: 12/19/2008

Leonardo DiCaprio and his Titanic co-star Kate Winslet reunite for the drama Revolutionary Road. Based on the novel by Richard Yates, the story follows a couple during the 1950’s as they struggle with raising children and their personal issues. Sam Mendes directs the film from the adaptation by Justin Haythe.

Kate Winslet (Actor)
Kathy Bates (Actor)
Leonardo DiCaprio (Actor)
Sam Mendes (Director)

Just how big will this film be? Some other big non-sequel reteams:

Runaway Bride/Pretty Woman
You've Got Mail/Sleepless In Seattle

etc.

Runaway Bride was 9 years later, while Revolutionary Road will be 11 years after Titanic. Nostalgia sells, and those pre-teens and teens who drove Titanic to $601 m, are now in their 20's and 30's. As Runaway Bride showed, quality isn't that important to get alot of hype for a reteam follow up, and if the film is actually good quality, it will do even better. With Sam Mendes, a historic reteaming of the stars of the biggest film ever, a December release, and with strong supporting cast (Bates), just how well will this do?

I think another thing in this film's favor Oscar wise is that Kate Winslet could be getting her 6th nomination, without winning yet. With such a huge pairing, and with Leo not getting any Oscar dues after a string of Oscar films, could this be the film that gets both of them their Oscars?

I see Angels and Demons disappointing, and could very well see this pass $200 m if the quality is there...

Well we started talking about The Dark Knight 2 + years before it came out and speculating how it would do, why not speculate how a teaming up of the stars of the biggest film EVER would do?

Because..TDK is a sequel to one of the best summer blockbusters of all time and is set to be a monster at the BO.

Revolutionary Road looks like another Oscar-winning drama except it has the reuniting of Titanic cast. And honestly....peopel aren't going to care about the Titanic part.

Actually, I care. I've been wanting to see them working together again for a LONG time.

Well, the last time these two were together, they created one of the most medicore films ever made. Luckily for us though, both of them have really developed 10 years later.

You're one of the most mediocre films ever made!

p.s. titanic was a good movie. but i can think 66 other films that deserve the money more than it.

A hot fag and I'm so happy because since you're a fag, you have that sexy Christian Bale avatar that no straight man would. So thank you, thank you very much. And God bless.

I think they could both win Oscars for it.

Box office wise, maybe American Beauty numbers. A bit less, perhaps.

Really excited about this.

Their careers are very similar, with both kinda shunning the usual blockbuster route and going down the more indie or artistic route. Leo of course has had more mainstream successes with Catch Me If You Can, Gangs of New York, The Aviator and the Departed.

Yes, the nostalgia factor will be there and i'm sure marketing will play on this aspect (they'll be dumn not to).....i.e. Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves in The Lake House.

Netherless, with this being a December release, and should it be commercial enough....could find its way to around $100-$150m.
