They both are. I'd rather have Heath. Don't make me pull out high-quality photos... I've got plenty saved.

I get the impression that WB is gonna try to sell this movie more on the IMAX filming of it than the actual movie itself, probably diverting everyone's attention away from Ledger's suckiness as The JOKER..

The Dark Knight sucking? Blasphemy!
Seriously, Batman Begins is the best superhero movie made to date. The Dark Knight could very well be even better. It's easily my most anticipated movie of 2008.

How so?? By pointing out WB releasing how there filming this which isn't a big deal?? They act like filming this in IMAX is supposed to be THAT big a deal and in the end, it won't look any better or worse than how SPIDERMAN III looked.. And how about just flat out show us a clear picture of Ledger in his JOKER getup?? Is WB afraid the masses won't buy into it?? That's possible..

Actually it is a big deal. It'll look a lot better than Batman Begins, 300, SM3, or any other previous IMAX release. Those were shot on 35mm film. This is being shot for 4 scenes with 70mm IMAX film. If you can't understand the clarity difference between 70mm and 35mm then you're a lost soul.

i hope IMAX format isn't the same as 3D format. Because I fucking wanted to hit someone during superman and almost wished i'd seen the normal version.
If they go with the 3D version, I'm never watching it in IMAX

It's not 3D. More like HDTV on an IMAX screen. Perfect clarity, unlike 35mm on IMAX.

Here's the difference:
So you have a larger screen area plus more clarity from it being 70mm instead of 35mm. Should be pretty damn cool. [/img]

Oh for crying out loud kid, that doesn't look any better or worse than SM3 looked on IMAX and anyone who says SM3 didn't look topnotch on IMAX didn't see it on IMAX to begin with and that's the truth.. Spare me the whole 70MM vs 35 MM Nonsense.. A huge movie screen is a huge movie screen and it'll look no different than SM3 did or any other IMAX movie for that matter..

Actually, there is a difference. You're apparently too stupid to understand it. Do you see the 35mm one? That is 2:35:1 aspect ratio, which is exactly like SM3. All they did in the past with films like BB, 300, and SM3 is blow up the 2:35:1 to fill MOST of the IMAX screen but not ALL of the screen because 2:35:1 is wider than an IMAX screen's aspect ratio. So there will be almost twice as much screen used in the IMAX scenes vs. the regular scenes. The other difference is clarity. It will be like watching DVD vs. HDTV at your house. Using an actual IMAX camera is comparable to showing a film in a normal theater using DLP. Everything will be clearer and unlike what you'll see in a normal theater for these 4 scenes, the full picture will be shown. The 35mm picture has been cropped down to fit a normal theater. If you can't tell a difference between those pictures, then you've got issues.

Who cares?? In the end, it'll look like any other IMAX movie including SM3: Crystal Clear and BIG.. WB is acting like this is so Revolutionary to cover up the fact the movie will probably suck.. Now here's something else to consider: If this is being filmed entirely in IMAX, Will the movie only be shown on IMAX cause if so, then box office must not mean shi* to WB then and there shooting for Quality over box office???...

I would be PERFECTLY fine if it was Imax only in HD quality. I think I would wet myself.
Who the hell cares about box-office if you could have an amazing movie?!?

But if the studio wants to go with quality over box-office, then obviously they don't.

Actually I prefer if films are composed for 2.35:1 and shown that way. The composition looks better than if you open the mattes. The ideal solution would be to have IMAX in true widescreen ratio, but alas no such luck.

The only way that'll happen is if IMAX is bought by someone and they change their standards to widescreen format for both the cameras and the screens. And there's no way they could shoot it all in IMAX. It'd be way too damn expensive. The fact that they're doing it for 4 action sequences is awesome enough in my opinion. Nolan has said that even on the 35mm print of the film, the fact that they used the clearer IMAX cameras for those 4 scenes means that in a regular theater, those scenes will stand out more than they would otherwise. So even regular theater-goers will get to experience the effect he's going for.

No one's going to notice the difference on a regular screen as opposed if they saw it on the IMAX Screen to begin with..
