Wednesday before July 4th, good date for Ice Age 3. The last one had a one of the worst multipliers for animated film (the lowest for a $35+m opener), and the grades all around are average, so the prospect doesn't look too bright to begin with.

That means that Summer 09 looks pretty week at this stage that Ice Age can even take a plum spot.

Hopefully Prince of Persia, Wolverine, Magneto, 2012 War of Souls, Superman VI, Austin Powers et al can get into gear soon. I wouldnt be surprised to see a comedy win the summer actually.

I wouldn't be surprised if something else came in and took the 4th of July date from Ice Age 3.

DOA comes on june 15th now.

So f4-2 has 3 movies to deal with. Doa is a guaranteed bomb but nancy drew could be a surprise hit. Fido not sure.

Well, we could see something where we have two July 4th films. IA3 may come out July 1st, and another film may come out July 3rd,

But July 4th isnt as hot of a spot as it used to be. The 2nd week of July is a better spot I feel. It's a spot that both F4 and the Pirates franchise used to really surpass expectations, and a spot I think HP5 is going to do very well in.

Some other date changes:

Vantage Point Sony / Columbia 2/15/08 10/5/07
Walk Hard Sony / Columbia 12/14/07 2/15/08

I was kind of looking forward to Vantage Point. Oh well.

FYI...

My belief is that VANTAGE POINT was moved so it could cash in on the ad blitz for Matthew Fox's Lost returning in February 2008.

It defintely would be getting a lot of TV ads during LOST true. I think though another reason is that they had to move Walk Hard, espically with Vince Vaughns documentary a week before and Semi-Pro two weeks later. And Febuary 2008 lacks any adult film, and Vantage Point fills that role.

It looks like it should do Sentenial numbers though unless it is actually a good movie unlike Sentinel. Then it has potential.

Yeah, maybe a little better re: Vantage Point, depends on the trailer they cut, Latino Review ran a fairly negative script review that sounded like it confused them.

Walk Hard I'm guessing is just because Paramount chose to push Drillbit Taylor from December to March leaving December without an outright comedy. Should be an interesting one to watch since Walk Hard spoofs Oscar Nominated movies more than anything and is being released in the middle of the season.

Holy fuck.

Um, that's kind of stupid, actually. It's weekend is going to be sooo low since it'll be major frontloaded on Tuesday night through Thursday.

True it gives two more days until the book damages its gross.

So it will break the WED record now.

As crazy as this sounds....that actually may be good.

I've always thought that the book coming one week after HP5 would really hurt HP5 legs a lot. People now have 10 days before the book comes out to see the movie.

This is what I was thinking.

And yeah, not good for Transformers at all.

Post Okay not nearly as epic as Potter, but License to Wed is ...
Now Tuesday, July 3rd as per WB. The date that Michael Bay has been trying to sell Paramount on moving Transformers to.
