Haven't seen the last episode yet and didn't read the thread in fear of spoilers...can someone just tell me if it was bad, good or...(hopefully) great?

edit: Let me simplify this: everyone liked it a lot, although I was a bit nitpicky.

Heh, I read your unedited post as well...so I'll probably think it was decent, though I love episodes more in the vein of the most recent one, than the ones like Par Avion. This being a Charlie Flashback isn't particulary encouraging, I haven't liked a single of his flashbacks.

Well this is a different kind of flashback episode. New construction, more interesting, etc..

that's what I thought! But Jack and Juliet both denied ever seeing or being in a water hatch... odd move. I'm suspicious. And Jack wanted to be on the beach. SOMETHING's going on. His tatoos says he's there, but not one of them.
EDIT: err nevermind. I know she said that that was the Hydra station, but I didn't think they'd have 2 underwater stations.. plus it'd end & begin the season in the same place, kinda neat.

My thoughts:

Charlie should have died.
Jack was being held on the other island, the smaller one. No one has been to this hatch before.
I don't think Juliet was lying, I think Ben was.
I had a panic attack for like 30 seconds when I thought Desmond was going to be the one to die instead. But it subsided.
Charlie should have died.
The flashbacks were very well incorporated into the story.
The girl that Charlie saved in the alley was Nadia, Sayid's girl.
Jack was pretty badass.
I like how only the survivors who we know were privy to seeing Jack's plan at the beginning. Still, it was nice to see everyone together at once (something that hasn't happened in god knows when).
All in all, a great set-up to the finale, though Charlie should have died.

Just watched it. and Hooolllllllyyyy crap that was awesome.

That might have been the best build up epsiode I've ever seen. I literally loved EVERY SINGLE moment of it. Danielle. Sayid. Alex and Carl. Rose and Bernard. sun and Jin. PITCH PERFECT.

I guess I've never been a real Charlie hater but have been annoyed with quite alot and waiting for him to leave the show. but as someone said above... after this episode I actually REALLY like him now. By far, one of the most, if not the most, emotional episode of Lost yet. I kept tearing up at almost every Charlie scene. Dominic did an incredible job. When I saw the ring in Aaron's crib... that was crazy; he had left it for him.

However much I really started liking his character, the buildup was so much that I thought I'd be really pissed if they did a cop-out at the end and not kill him off. While I'm not completely pissed by the ending (solely because andaroo strongly hinted at Charlie's fate... while not spelling it out it was pretty obvious and just a side-note for this thread... I'm so afraid of reading anything anymore because even regular comments and stuff from people who "know" whatever they know still hints at what mgiht happen or not), it was a great Lost-style "what the fuck" cliffhanger.

From what some posters have been saying about the finale... about how incredibly off the hook and unexpected/unprecedented it's going to be... I've kinda formed an idea of what's gonna happen and that goes back to saying how spoiler-soaked even non-spoiler comments are on thsi thread. Either way, I cannot freakin wait!!!!!

During the winter hiatus, after those atrocious 6 episodes, I thought there would be no absolute way I'd ever be able to put Lost on as high a pedestal as Six Feet Under, Alias, Once and Again... but the past 15 week run has been the absolute highest quality, cosnistently satisfying, unflinchingly awesome experience of a T.V. I have ever had.

I really wish I hadn't read that spoiler now. It was 100% correct and probably will be for the finale too.

Excellent episode still though.

Any one else really love Alex these last few episodes? I think she may be fast becoming one of my favorite characters. I really hope she and Danielle meet in the finale or early next season.

Actually some of what is posted in that spoiler is contradicted by things in the preview. I also read on other sites that a lot of it isn't really accurate.

Post I tried something this episode, what do you guys think?
Opening credits: By the first five minutes I realized that the survivors of Flight 815 weren't dead, but could live forever. The island heals all, unless it wishes to take away. However, in this episode, we were given a new revelation: By the introduction we're realizing that the "others" were the survivors of previous crashes from further and further back. As one grows older or more in tune to the island they become more of a part of it maybe. That could be why Jacob can only be seen by those truly in tune with the Island. Thus, Nestor Carbonell (sp?) could be the captain of the Black Rock. Also, The Dharma Initiative could all be ruins that seem self supplied but are just still shipped supplies. Why? Because they were killed by the older residents of the island. Only now, it's a repeat of "the others" vs. the dharma iniative. It'll be very symetrical to their battle I bet. And at the end, the Losties will have a new revelation in addition to realizing that they should live forever in exchange for clasing with those who land there. One could interpret it like the Bible, one could interpret it like the Island evolving throughout time. But this is just what I got out of the first five minutes.

PS: Jack acting so fucking shady just to make a build up like this stuck me as a fucking cop out at first, but considering the season finale is his flashback I bet he's somehow still going to be torn which side to fight on or something.

5:44: Oh wow I think I'm going to be in love with this style of flashback (especially considering the episode is named "Greatest Hits.")
6:46: Does the Island makes people "leave" the island depending on how little they want to be there? If Charlie knows he's a rock star again, is he going to want to leave as much as Michael was apparently doing last season? Maybe you "leave", maybe you "die", but either way you're conciousness is no longer present in tthe island.
8:21: (Episode title spoiler: Add to the great revelations this episode the reveal of the final episode, "Through the Looking Glass" Was underwater base that Jack opened the door of the Looking Glass?)
13:34: Wow sacrificing yourself to save your girlfriend and her daughter is so smething that would be in an album.
20:12: So is '6 Hours Ago' the new flashback or what? I sure wish it was.
24:32: Methinks that having this episode act like a mini biopic for Charlie is going to be to make it all more tear jerking. Or shocking? Probably the former, considering this episode is essentially pulling so many of the loose threads from the season together.
31:19: This essentially guarantees that some or even all of the shooters will die, as will quite a few Others. Oh shit. What isn't Jack telling Sayid?
33:20: Oh god, Jin dying seems so possible and makes sense with the flashbacks and how they are. I just hope it's not the fourth case to date of couples of people getting written off before the end.
40:00: What a powerful scene.
End of episode: Super sick way to cap it off. All in all, this episode was full of emotional scenes that will no doubt be especially poignant when rewatching the show on DVD. That they all moved the show forward at a breakneck speed Lost only seems to reach at the season finale. I loved how we saw that Ben was indeed the true leader of the Others (for now, as I have a feeling we'll see Locke in the season finale.) Also, I think no matter how one felt about Charlie before this episode, you have more care and respect for his character now. If I will fault Lost for any one aspect of the show's chronology, it's that the show really slowed down from the second season finale to third season. I really, really hope that doesn't happen here. Lost is on so much fire that I really want it to keep the ball rolling from here on out. If it really could stay this good without another six episode dip, we could have one of the very best genre shows in television history here. Imagine if The X-Files had ended tidily, Twin Peaks had sustained it's early quality, or Firefly had gone on for several seasons. Whichever genre show you love (I'm excluding futurisitc sci-fi due to honest lack of knowledge of all things not Star Trek), this is at the same point as those shows where it could conclude on the perfect note. It's an incredibly rare feat, but I believe that if they can plan things out from here with the end date in mind, they can do it.

Ok, so having now read people's thoughts, I totally agree that the whole base could get flooded, that Jack and/or Juliet are or are very much considering fucking over the Losties, and that as of now I'd have liked Charlie to die tonight. That said, considering how much of a shake up the next episode is supposed to be, maybe we're all completely off the map and Lost has only let us know as much as it has for a very crazy fucked reason. I'm sooo excited for next Wednesday, but I'm even more excited for the season three DVD release so my friend and I can have a multiple day festival watching seasons 1-3, totally stoned to figure out more mysteries.

Loved the episode...really...up until the moment Charlie, well, didn't actually die. But the revelation at the end was great.

Maybe the people in the Looking Glass station were the survivors of the Dharma initiative..some kids back then who Ben decided to keep alive. Annie, or what was that girl's name? That's why Ben told everyone that the station is flooded, so none of the "Hostiles" can find them? Maybe Ben isn't that heartless afterall?

Anyway, I expect Charlie to still die in the same manner anyway...only later. The build-up was great, best flashback of Charlie ever, by far.

I anticipate the finale of Lost this season even more than the one of Heroes, though I do like Heroes more.

Yeah, me too. The massive probable revelations make me so pumped for Wednesday.

I was just watching the pilot again. That fucking white shoe at the beginning, I have no idea why the producers included it, it couldn't have been an accident with the camera fully focusing on it. :hahaha: I always remember it when I watch that episode and I probably always will.

Watched last nights episode, after never watching an episode before. I pretty much guessed most of the plot points though. I guess you have to see it from the beginning, but after watching it, it was pretty boring and poorly shot, so I dont know.

The creators of lost have always said they knew the beginning and the end. They knew what the island was , and its history. But they have admitted that the journey to that end is fluid. This past season has been awesome, if only they hadn't started with 6 episodes then went on the ridiculous break. But many others have made that mistake, Heroes, jericho. You can't take breaks with serial dramas it kills the ratings.

Hopefully the new 3 x 16 straight episode seasons will cure that. But mostly the networks have to understand that TV is different know. The ratings weeks are meaningless, now with TIVO, Torrents, DVD sales of series etc, weekly ratings are meaningless and a shows season shouldn't be planned around the 3 sweeps weeks.

Some of you seem to read graphic novels so you might want to know this: I read in the newspaper that the author of the Y: The Last Man series, a guy named Vaughn, is now one of the writers for Lost. They said his first episode he contributed to was The Man from Tallahassee and his first co-writer credit was Catch 22.
