40. Dawn of the Dead (1978)

I think this is the first appearance of a horror film on my list. See, the reason for that is I'm not a big fan of horror unless it's really good. If it's not, like most recent horror films (Exception being the recent remake of this film and some others) I generally ignore them. This however is a masterpiece. And fucking disturbing on top of that.

39. Forrest Gump (1994)

And now for another rapid change in pace. If played by anyone else, Forrest Gump could've been the most irritating character ever created. With Hanks he is a warm, sympathetic character that we can root for and at some points even make fun of (He was afterall shot in the buttocks). Gump is just one of those warm and sweet movies that if you could, hug the shit out of and never get tired of doing so.

People sure love their Forrest around here.

38. The Silence of the Lambs (1991)

Anthony Hopkins portrayal of Hannibal Lecter is brilliant and absolutely deserving of the Academy Award. I think we can all agree on that. But man, does Ted Levine come this close to stealing the show. Buffalo Bill is one of the most disturbing and yet brilliant character ever created.

36. National Lampoon's Animal House (1978)

Harold Ramis Film #4 (As a writer)

Animal House is one of those rare comedies that actually has a ratio under a laugh a minute. There's a laugh almost every few seconds or so. And although that's hard to do, just look at the cast, the writer's, the director (John Landis of The Blues Brothers) and even at the time National Lampoon (When it was respectable and funny) then you can see how they pulled it off.

Dean Vernon Wormer: "Zero point two... Fat, drunk and stupid is no way to go through life, son. Mr. Hoover, president of Delta house? One point six; four C's and an F. A fine example you set! Do I even have to say it? It's the best pure action film ever made.

The reason why the film works so well for me is because of how sarcastic the humor is in this film. And for a comedy, there are some pretty damn good special effects. And I know this isn't going to happen, but I'd love for there to be a live action film with all four returning at their age. It'd be hilarious. Murray would never be up for it though.

Okay I'm done for the night. Tomorrow I'll be gone for most of the day so I most likely won't finish my list tomorrow. My current plan is to finish tomorrow night at number 11 and then finish the final ten over Tuesday.

33. Born on the Fourth of July (1989)

The best performance Tom Cruise has ever given in any film he's been in. It also features a very underrated and very beautiful score by composer John Williams.

32. Hoosiers (1986)

The best *true story* sports film ever made. Great performances from Hackman and Hopper. It also features a great musical score from Jerry Goldsmith.

31. Return of the Jedi (1983)

Yeah. It's Star Wars.

30. Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989)

Indiana Jones + Sean Connery + Zeppelin's + Nazi's + Hitler autograph = Great fun

29. Goodfellas (1990)

If there is another film that shows the effects cocaine has on people like in this film, I'd love to see it. Besides that though, the film is classic Scorsese. Characters double crossing one another, drugs, paranoia, it's great. Oh, and then there's Joe Pesci........

28. Halloween (1978)

The best thing about the holiday is this film. It is the best slasher film of all time.

27. The Godfather (1972)

The definitive mafia film. Except of course Mafia!.

26. Jurassic Park (1993)

I've said it before and I'll say it again. The CGI in this film is much better than some of the CGI that is in some of today's films.

25. Lethal Weapon (1987)

The best pure (From beginning to end) buddy cop film ever made.

24. Airplane (1980)

You know why it's on the list, so I'll just list some quotes from the film that we've all heard millions of times before, but are still hilarious.

Rumack: You'd better tell the Captain we've got to land as soon as we can. This woman has to be gotten to a hospital.
Elaine Dickinson: A hospital? What is it?
Rumack: It's a big building with patients, but that's not important right now.

Rumack: Captain, how soon can you land?
Captain Oveur: I can't tell.
Rumack: You can tell me. I'm a doctor.
Captain Oveur: No. I mean I'm just not sure.
Rumack: Well, can't you take a guess?
Captain Oveur: Well, not for another two hours.
Rumack: You can't take a guess for another two hours?

It's one of the funniest and smartest films ever made. I'd actually place it at #2 on my funniest films list. Number one is coming up shortly.

23. JFK (1991)

The best film Oliver Stone and Kevin Costner have ever been apart of. Conspiracy theory or not, it's one of the most thought provoking films I've ever seen.

22. Fargo (1996)

I remember the first time I watched this film it was in school when I was one of three people remaining in our film class. I was 15 and I absolutely hated it. I couldn't get past the Minnesota accent with the constant "Ya's" and "You betchya's", which is absolutely ironic considering what part of the country I live in. A couple of years later I caught the end of it on cable and began to realize that it wasn't so bad, so I went all out and bought the film and you can see where that lead. The film is absolutely brilliant, brutal and funny. I guess I just wasn't ready for it the first time I saw it.

21. Kill Bill (2003/2004)

Nothing short of a masterpiece. That saying, it's not the last appearance made by a Tarantino film on this list. And no, it's not Grindhouse.

20. Dumb and Dumber (1994)

Yes. It's the funniest film ever made. Ever.
