BLOOD DIAMOND - 8/10 (A-)
A great, well-made, and important movie. My only complaint is that it's overlong and because of it I wouldn't want to watch it again. The performances from the main players were great though. Even Leonardo DiCaprio, who looked awful in the previews (due to the accent), was great. I was also impressed by Djimon Hounsou and Jennifer Connelly. I loved Connelly in it and was very charmed by her performance and loved her character.

LOVEWRECKED
I really enjoyed it. Amanda Bynes is adorable and charming, as usual, and Jonathan Bennett is very cute (also as usual). I'm not a big fan of Chris Carmack and don't find him to be the slightest bit attractive. His character was mostly an unlikable idiot and you'd think Bynes' character Jenny would have been able to see this sooner. But then we wouldn't have had a movie.
This was probably meant to be a PG-13 comedy because you can tell once or twice that things were dubbed over. One part was really noticeable. I know it debuted on ABC Family but it should have been released un-edited on DVD. Still, I'll likely buy it someday.

SLEEPING DOGS LIE - 8/10 (B+)
I loved it! A pleasant surprise. It comes out on DVD Tuesday and I definitely recommend it.

Today I watched:
WICKED LITTLE THINGS - 8/10 (A-)
HUGE surprise! Even though I knew a couple of people that loved this entry of the After Dark Horrorfest, I still didn't have incredibly high expectations. But it exceeded them and then some. It's a ghost/zombie movie that was actually very entertaining and the atmosphere was great. Usually ghost stories bore me as they tend to be very repetitive, but that wasn't the case with this one. It's a bloody good time and the best of the Horrorfest movies. It's also probably my favorite horror movie of 2006. I really dug this one and it should have been the one to get the wide theatrical release as it's the most mainstream accessible one I've seen and it definitely had the potential to do pretty decent at the Box Office. I highly recommend it.

NIGHT OF THE LIVING DORKS - 7/10 ( B )
A very entertaining German zombie comedy. I'm really glad it's getting a remake though. Not because I think it needs improving, because it's just fine the way it is, but because more people here will see the remake and the original then. While watching it it just screamed of a movie that should get a US remake. It would be cool if they used mostly German music in the US remake though. That would be a nice touch.
Anyway, I definitely recommend it. It's not as great as SHAUN OF THE DEAD, but still funny and a lot of fun.

You'd think more people would post in this thread. It's usually one of the most popular threads on other movie boards.
This morning I watched:
FAMILY (Masters of Horror) - 8/10 (B+)
Aftering hearing that the second season of Masters of Horror isn't very good and then watching the shitty " Pro-Life" I figured the rest of the season's episodes would end up sucking too. So I didn't have very high hopes for this one, especially considering John Landis made the awful episode " Deer Woman" from the first season. But this ended up being a nice surprise and one of my favorite episodes (after " Sick Girl" and " Dreams in The Witch House"). It was nice to see Meredith Monroe ( Dawson's Creek) in something again, and she was excellent here. I loved the twist ending, which I wasn't expecting.
Anyway, it's out on DVD Tuesday. I took it home from the video store early since we get to do that .

I think people would just rather post in the review forum. I know I do.

THE MESSENGERS - 3/10 (D)
Ugh, what a horrible mess of a movie! It was incredibly boring, laughable and ridiculous throughout, and the story itself made no sense. It's yet another movie that thinks it is a lot scarier and smarter than it actually is. There are no scares to be found here - only loud music cues. None of the characters were developed and the final "twist" at the end was incredibly predictable, but also came completely out of nowhere. Not one of the characters was likable either. The performances were downright terrible here. Kristen Stewart needs a new agent. She's already proven she can act in fare such as Panic Room, but she's completely slumming it here and, just like this spring's In The Land Of Women, gives a boring and one-note performance. Dylan McDermott, who I usually really like, is basically phoning in his performance here as well. The two worst performances in the film, however, come from John Corbett and Penelope Ann Miller. Corbett's attempt at acting mysterious and questionable fails miserably - for the character he is playing never gets any development whatsoever. His acting during the final twenty minutes is downright hilarious. Miller, meanwhile, gives one of the worst performances I've seen in any recent motion picture. She delivers her lines in a flat, boring monotone and never sounds convincing in the slightest. Her attempts at showing emotion are laughable and she has no chemistry whatsoever with any of the actors. Honestly, this film is just a disaster. There are so many plot holes that it is hard to keep track, it borrows from many other classic horror films (such as The Sixth Sense and The Birds), and the ending is incredibly cheesy and cringe-inducing. The only thing it really has going for it is some decent cinematography. Ghost House Pictures is such an awful studio. They should just be shut down. Their only decent movie was The Grudge. Anyways, this is easily the worst movie of the year so far, and an insult to the thinking moviegoer. Horror movies like this should not be made anymore. Stay far, far away.

Looks like The Messengers is a dud. If I ever see it will probably be from renting it or watching at a friend's house.

I don't really like Woody Allen movies, but I like Dianne Wiest.
Question: Who's uglier? Woody Allen or Michael Caine? Caine has improved with age, but he's hideous looking in this.

Re: Grade The Last Movie You Watched
Quote: Pirates Of The Caribbean: At World's End - A+ Well its a decent flick, but really an A+ is like the best movie ever, you know... Anyways... well I watched a 1/3 of Godfather part 2 last Night. A+ like always and really the best parts is when Micheal gives Fredo the kiss of death. Yes it is a long film, people, but it is a very complex film that easily has some of the greatest casts and acing in film. Then I saw American Gangster afterwards. Well I found it to be blah! Around a B- or so. I think I was biased after watching Godfather part 2.
