59. Stalag 17 (Billy Wilder - 1953)
Tense thriller set in a POW camp where the purpose is to find out if there is a traitor amongst them.

58. High Noon (Fred Zinnemann - 1952)
You all know the story. A man has to fight alone as no one in the town will help him. Happens in real time. Unforgettable song too.

57. Ed Wood (Tim Burton - 1994)
In my opinion Burton's best film. A bittersweet inside look at the world of movies, and the love of making movies. Landau as Lugosi is outstanding. As Ed Wood would say: CUT! PERFECT! PRINT IT!

Fantastic choice. One of Burton's best (I like Sleepy Hollow better). Absolutely hilarious.

56. The Last of the Mohicans (Michael Mann - 1992)
The last 20-30 minutes of this movie, set to Jones and Edelman's music and no dialogue is what cinema is about. Absolutely breathtaking.

Ed Wood! It's much higher on my list (Top 10 at least), but still, great choice.

I would like to see your list too trixster. Sign up to go after Chipmunky.
You too, Positive Jon.

55. Memento (Christopher Nolan - 2000)
I don't remember anything about this movie. Just kidding Never has amnesia been used so effectively in one movie, even having an influence in the way it's shot.

I'm still working on mine. There's a lot of movies that I haven't seen that I would like to. My list, despite my best efforts, is too hopelessly recent.
Maybe sometime this summer...

54. Dawn of the Dead (Zack Snyder - 2004)
The newest film in my list. Amazing, amazing 10 opening minutes. I like Romero's version too, but I feel the sense of doom is handled even better here. Still Snyder's best movie.

53. The Hunt for Red October (John McTiernan - 1990)
Connery, Neill, Baldwin, Glenn, Earl Jones, Skarsgard....mucho macho in here.
Tense, tense submarine thriller and still the best movie based on a Tom Clancy book.

Wow, you are fast, Mr. Price. Leave something for tomorrow.
Thanks for Mohicans, though I'd have it some 40 spots higher.

52. The Wages of Fear (Henri-Georges Clouzot - 1953)
Remade in the 70s as Sorcerer by W. Friedkin, this is the original story of a group of truck drivers that have to transport dynamite through the treacherous roads of the S. American jungle. Absolutely nailbiting!

51. M (Fritz Lang - 1931)
The story of Peter Kuerten (although the name has been changed in the movie), known as the vampire of Duesseldorf. It gives Peter Lorre an opportunity to shine in one of his sadly few starring roles.

That's it for today. Phew!!! I'm sweating.
However I'm open to discuss any of the movies or be more explicit of why I like it.
What will be coming next? What are my top 10? Any guesses?
I told you that you would see movies in my list that I don't remember having been mentioned before and without the need to list artsy-fartsy stuff.. I would say my list is also pretty mainstream, just that there is more older stuff.

M's one I've always wanted to see. Just haven't got around to it yet.
That's why I'm not doing my list yet.

Haven't seen a lot of your choices, but overall you seem to know your movies.

Well, I know what your #1 is, given that I just watched it and read the thread for it... Unless you've changed it since then?
I'm glad you're repressing your inner Guybrush, though, and not just listing 100 obscure, foreign films that no one can discuss. Since you seem like you know a lot about cinema, and you probably could do that...

I also know what his #1 is if I'm not mistaken, and as a major confession, I have yet to see it.

Mine is recently as well, but they're my favorite films so that won't stop me. And you can always go back like Shack did. If I'm still posting here in a year, I'll probably revisit my list.
Anyways, Ed Wood is a fantastic choice. I also can't disagree with Dawn of the Dead or The Hunt for Red October. I need to catch up on Memento.

Nope. No change there. .
Seems you like it too.
But I have decided to post my real top 100 list, the one with movies from Senegal, Somalia, Burkina Faso and Kirghizistan.

Seriously, excel?
A few of them are a bit obscure, but the vast majority are mainstream, American films.
