Sylar is perfect, and so is Peter. Nathan, Hiro and Niki look good too. But Claire is meh-ish.

Didn't Lost start season two with like 25 million viewers when it was averaging like 17 million season one? I think Heroes will begin season two with at least as many viewers.

Because Sylar is so powerful, you cannot heal yourself from his telekenetic scars.

I thought it was a logical explanation.

Claire recovers from 3rd degree burns, broken ribs and bones, a bullet shot, falling from high places, stuff going through her body, chopping herself. She still becomes a cheer leader. All sylar is doing is opening up his scalp, an attempt at which he fails so we can assume the damage isn't that bad.

Maybe it's the cheer leader outfit that gives her most of her recuperative powers? Hence why Peter can't heal the scar, cause he doesn't have that cheer leader outfit.

I would imagine it has more to do with Peter having to quickly stop healing and go to another power because he is still in the fight with Sylar, so he only partially heals.

23.5 million, it be exact. I doubt Heroes could reach that though. I don't think Heroes' highest rated episode so far even matches Lost's lowest rated season 1 ep (I don't think it ever dropped below 16M back then). Also, Lost had won the Emmy just 4 days prior (The Emmy effect only really works if the show returns immediately after the win) and the competition is much more fierce on Mondays @ 9 right now (In the fall it'll have to compete with Monday Night Football and probably Dancing with the Stars) than it was on Wednesdays @ 9 at the time.
However, since Heroes will be far easier to catch up on (The seasons are suppose to be self-contained ala 24 to Lost's continuous flow), so I think 20M for a premiere is achievable...before the Season Two Backlash, of course.

I just watched 18 available episodes of Heroes in three days and I have to say it's probably the best sci-fi show since Buffy. It's way better than Lost. As a series, that is. I can't compare this to Lost, because outside from genre, Lost has a different structure, way different than Heroes.
The series didn't start really strong. It started mediocre, but in just a few episodes it became great, never losing fast pace. While thinking about the episodes, I can see why some episodes come off weak being watched weekly. But watching in almost continus flow, the show is smooth, the story never slows down, and even Niki/Jessica story isn't bad. I read all 18 pages of this topic and I was quite surprised that most of you hated Niki and thought she had the worst storyline. While she most certainly isn't the most intriguing one, she's nnot that bad. Personally, I think she'll come off as a replicant when she learns to control Jessica. While in danger she will be able to kick Jessica outside of her while she runs/hides or something. And to stop Jessica from turning her back on her, I think that replica thing will function something like when Jessica gets defeated nothing happens, because Niki was the source and she can make "new" Jessica, but if Niki dies it's game over for both of them.
Oh, while reading this topic at the beginning Eagle was saying in almost every of his posts that Heroes can't die unless their brain is removed. I don't think that's the case. In one episode there is a scene when Chandra says that if there is a soul, then it's most definitely positioned inside human brain. So I think Syler needs brains to collect souls, and they carry their owners power to Syler. Basically he eats them. That's why Claire wasn't able to regenerate while she had a branch stuck in her head - it blocked her soul.
Regarding Peter, I think he'll die in this season finale. Hiro wasn't able to change the past when he went back. So when Peter met him in the subway I think Hiro it was something that needed to happen, not something Hiro decided to do. During the whole show so far I don't remember they were ever able too change something in the future or the past. What ever Isaac painted that's what happened. They mostly wrongly interpreted things, but his drawings never lied. The only time Hiro manages to change something is if he stops time and then does something that will effect the future. So while his power does seem like the most powerful one, it seems like it has a lot of restrictions. So I think Peter will explode in the end. There is no way to stop him. The only thing they can try is to find someone who can put Peter inside some sort of a shield or something when he blows off.
And one more theory - about why Peter explodes. He learned to control his powers (more or less) now, so it would seem strange if he suddenly didn't know how to control his powers. He said he needs to remember how someone made him feel so he can be able to use the power. That Nuclear Man seems mentally unstable, and I think that when Peter absorbs his powers, he absorbs a part of his personality, and when he uses the power, he gets influenced by that personality. Like when he used telekinesis in Isaac's apartmen to stop the bullet, he seemed so evil, almost like he picked it up from Syler when he absorbed the power. So while Peter seems like the most powerful one, his power could be a double edged sword.
My favorite storyline would be Claire's. From the beginning she was the best hero. And I think Hayden could even get an Emmy nod, because her character is really cliched, but she manages to give something I can't put my finger on, but whatever it is it makes her character the most compelling in the whole show.
The show will definitely get Emmy nods. I predict: Best Drama, Supporting actress (Hayden - maybe even Ali), Supporting actor, Best writing and a few in techical departments.

Glad to see you like it, Darko. And I agree about Hayden Panettiere. I wouldn't oppose to the entire cast being nominated. Screw The Sopranos. They've been writing the final season for 11 years. Give Heroes some love!

When Hiro met Peter on the train, he said "You look different without your scar"... By that implication, I'm guessing Peter doesn't die in the finale. Besides, they wouldn't kill off their lead character like that.

Well, if my theory of Jessica being a replicant is somewhat true, if Peter meets Jessica, then one part of him could explode, the other would stay alive.

You know that even if Hiro were stuck on an asteroid hurtling into the sun, Ando would appear and they'd get out of it somehow, that's the appeal of his arc for me.
I feel though that that aspect is living off its own coattails. It seems as if they are already sometimes trying to conjure up good old memories of episode 5.
I'm starting to get the same feeling with Hiro that I get with those two Star Wars robots. It can't get worse than that.

So do you guys think the hiatus will help or hurt the ratings for the next new episode?

Hopefully they cancel it before it even airs again...
I can not stand anyone on that show.

It feels like we haven't seen a new episode since December. That can't be a good feeling.
I'm sure it'll be above 24 in the ratings. 13 mill? 14?

13m sounds right. I'm not sure what is up with NBC and the huge-ass hiatuses for their popular shows lately. Other networks didn't have to do that did they? I know CBS had the basketball but still I doubt their top shows took 6 weeks off.

Ever since 24 started airing non-stop from January to May, people get impatient with all the repeats in between new episodes. It's not like repeats are a brand new concept or something. I guess NBC just decided instead of "New episode - repeat - two new episodes - two repeats - etc", they would break the season up like this, to avoid a "Lost" backlash from fans.

I like the way NBC has aired Heroes, in three spurts of new episodes. It's pretty kewl.

Yeah, but you also think it's cool to type the word cool as "kewl", and use bright fonts that people have to highlight to read.
