Quote:
Harvey is a 1950 film based on Mary Chase's play of the same name, directed by Henry Koster, and starring James Stewart and Josephine Hull. The story is about a man whose best friend is a pooka named Harvey—in the form of a six-foot, three-and-one-half-inch tall rabbit.

This movie really gives me a smile whenever I watch it. How I always wanted a Pooka to befriend! Jimmy Stewart, always great. Josephine Hull (pretty well-deserved Oscar win for her, one of the few for a straight comedic performance) is very memorable as the social-climbing sister who clearly cares for her brother but is soooo annoyed by some of his actions.

FANtastic old movie. Jimmy Stewart is brilliant in this. The movie has a nice play-like feel to it, obviously since it's adapted from one. The characters are well-used and the movie can actually surprise you in a few parts. I'm glad in the end that they never showed the Pooka.

There is a scene where "Harvey" shows up in the painting above the fireplace in Elwood's house. I've been trying to look for a replica of that, lol.

Ya, that is a great one!! But I think the audience needed a visualization of some sort of the Pooka, going all out and showing him wouldn't be as great. The painting was actually a creepier part of the movie for me, as then whoever painted that saw him as well... I love the dictionary part too!! "How are you Mr. Wilson?"
