I assume you gave it an A or was that someone else? Do tell your thoughts on the film to help me justify spending dollars to see it.

Oh I would never give this an A. I give it a D+. Some moments are good, the grasshopper swarm and the fire storm at the end, but it rips from a certain movie for its twist at the end spoiler(Rosemary's Baby)spoiler over. It goes in way to many directions, way to many twists that make no sense, and itwas just so weird.

It looked like a mess. Watching the clip with the locusts reminded me of the "not the bees!" scene in The Wicker Man.
And I heard about the ending. Jeez, what is it with Hollywood and lame twist endings these days? They're not going to get a Sixth Sense kind of reaction from people the vast majority of the time, so I have no idea why they bother, and it seems today like every horror movie has some ridiculous twist at the end... except for the PG-13 ones because most of them are too inane to come up with any kind of twist.

Yep. The ending wasn't need, the audience wasn't surprised because its been ripped off so many times. Such a shame, I was hopping for it to be as funny as The Wickerman but it dissapoints there too.

Wow, that stupid and no unintentional comedy?
Unless I'm ever hammered drunk and this happens to be on TV, I'll pass.

Not like totally awful or anything, but essentially, an unfunny version of The Wicker Man with some better performances and cool cinematography.

Judging from it's gross, it seems the only people who saw it are on this site.
Waiting to here what Libs thinks; I know she was going to see it.

Fuck bro, at least try and keep some credibility by not giving any movie you see an A.

I'm probably not going to see it, the horrible reviews and buzz turned me off.

Don't bother. It's not even a fun waste of time, it's just a waste of time.
This was sooo bad. At times I chuckled just because it was so bad. Hilary Swank gives the type of performance that should have the Academy calling for those Oscars back. The movie was made a few months before Terabithia, but AnnaSophia Robb looks considerably younger here than in that movie. Ugh! The special effects were horrendous. I gave this a D+ when I saw it Thursday, but I think I'll drop it to a D sometime soon.

I didn't think it was that bad, but it wasn't good either. And that ending. Lmao. I thought, "Hilary Swank, it's called an abortion. Have one!"
I'd give it a C.

I thought the same exact thing. I actually rolled my eyes when that happened; like there is no way to get rid of the kid.
As for the movie... meh, it didn't do anything for me. It reminded me a lot of the Wicker Man, especially with the whole cemetery scenes. I'd give a C-/D+

The Reaping was clearly the wrong title for this film.
Instead I would have gone with "Hilary Swank walks around very slowly to prolong running time". Seriously I'm convinced they wrote the screenplay began shooting and then realized the whole thing was going to be over in 30 minutes, so in best jury-rig fashion they attached concrete to Swanks legs.
The first 20 minutes are pretty decent, It builds a bit of tension and had me thinking this film got an unfair ride with critics, but the moment the film hits the southern hick township the glue is thrown over the gears and we get an insane amount of foreboding with no affective edge and Swank looking mildly horrified.
That ending is bloody hilarious though.

 Re: The Reaping
Saw this one theatrically a few months back. It was alright. I thought the direction was solid and a few parts were creepy, but a great deal of it was quite dull and the performances were flat.

 Re: The Reaping
I don't get it. I liked the movie. I thought it was midly generic, but with enough unique ideas to offset that. The twists worked for me, and it always maintained momentum for me, even during its slowest parts. Swank was decent enough. I wouldn't say bad. She makes ti to the end.

 Re: The Reaping
Heh. I actually kinda.... liked it? I mean, it's not anything terribly original and it's certainly not anything special, but it's good for what it is. I found it reasonably well-acted, solidly scripted, and genuinely creepy. The concept of the plagues was handled well and the story progressed well, despite being formulaic. The end reminded me strongly of The Wicker Man when it was hinted at, but I found it was handled well (or at least better than that film). I also dug the unforgiving ending - no needless conclusion required here. It's nothing unique or 'great', but I found it well-made and certainly interesting enough. Meh.

 Re: The Reaping
3/10 -> D-
I actually feel like this could've been a very decent movie. But it's full of plot holes that could've been easily avoided and it's very weakly acted.

 Re: The Reaping
I was way too nice to this when it came out (blush, mea culpa, etc.), but I still kind of enjoy it. The plot isn't anything too special, but I dig the Angel Heart-esque dense Southern atmosphere. The same is true of The Gift and The Skeleton Key. Horror films with lots of Spanish moss is a weakness of mine.
