Come onnnnnnn Connery! The movie NEEDS you! Even if you do look younger than Harrison Ford, now.

I hope Connery stays away to be honest with you. He's the main reason I didn't like The Last Crusade. I didn't really want to know who Indy's dad was, or what Indy was like as a teenager, or how he got his scar and whip, or that he named himself after the family dog... Last Crusade deflated the whole Indy myth the first two films set up.
Also, it's my belief that Connery was technically the sidekick in Last Crusade, and the Indy films traditionally don't bring them back, only the incidentals. So fuck off Connery. Don't you dare ruin another Indy film.

Here I was thinking you were all cool, then you drop this bombshell.
I can never forgive you for dissing The Man like that.

Cool news, perfect time to release a high profile trailer. I wonder if the name will go unknown for that long. Probably not.
I dont think Lucas is as smug as he is excited.

My main beef with Indy 3 is that it ruins Marcus. That's not the same guy as in Raiders. Otherwise, I love it.

well he didnt approve darabonts script spielberg and ford were apparently so fond of. certainly not a good idea when the script was, according to spielberg, the best one since raiders.
and to raiders vs. crusade: raiders is delicious, the pure (and perhaps naive) pleasure that went into the filmmaking infects the viewer. its fresh approach to the genre is intriguing. crusade is none of those, its a routine action comedy, its formula filmmaking. it stands as a testament to the corruption of creativity that comes with success (see also: ghostbusters 2 from the same year, or more fittingly: lucas' own return of the jedi). i bought the trilogy box set a few months ago and watch raiders at least once a week.

Indy 3 was indeed the worst of the series by far, but I'd still like to see Sean Connery one more time...

I rewatched all three about a week ago and came to pretty much the same conclusion. The third has always been my least favourite, but I never really understood why until I watched it again now. It took away everything that made the first two Indiana Jones films great and replaced it with a clumsy buddy movie dynamic that constantly undermines everything you ever loved about Indiana Jones in the first place. Add to that boring locations, the comic relief-isizing of Marcus and a lazy, less interesting retread of the original movie's plot (the nazis want the ark - a great Christian artefact that can lay entire countries to waste! The nazis want the Holy Grail - a wooden goblet that can make wounds fizzle like alka seltzer before disappearing entirely!), and you've got a piece of shit.
Either way, it's all moot. Temple of Doom's always been my favourite. The ultimate adventure film from start to finish, with an endless amount of giddy set-pieces that never get boring.

whoa.... Now that I know your opinion of Temple of Doom, I can safely say that your opinion on the Indiana Jones' series is moo.
I shall no longer read any posts of yours pertaining to Indiana Jones movies, except those times that I do in order to give myself a good laugh when I'm feeling down, which is a lot so I'll probably read all of your posts pertaining to Indiana Jones multiple times.

Last Crusade was the best of the series. The chemistry between connery and ford was great.

Last Crusade was a major downgrade for the series.
