I thought Le Chiffre's death itself was one of the best for a villain character in quite some time and was the perfect conclusion to my favorite scene of last year, so I had no issue with his early exit. One of my problems with Batman Begins was that Ra's demise was a bit... glossy, for the serious tone of the film.

He basically said the movie was bad, boring, Craig was not a good bond, yet gave it an A for the end scene.

B-, very borderline close to a C+. Wow what an overrated Bond flick. The action scenes were missing the "wow" factor and were too infrequent. The story was more predictable than usual. While not as horrible as some recent Bond films like The World Is Not Enough or Tomorrow Never Dies, it is still a below-average Bond flick.

Dont claim to know sarcasm if you can't see it yourself
Check out some David Spade, Vince Vaughn, or old Chevy Chase and Bill Murray films for a lesson

Excellent. The best bond film around. Great action, great character development, great style.

Shit man don't get so heated, there's nothing wrong with not being on the same page as a different poster from time to time. Though if you really were making a joke with your post, would you mind filling me in on what exactly the punch line was? It struck me as a really good impression of someone translating excel's post word for word after Dark Shape asked in jest for someone to.

Haha, sorry Thegun, but you kinda got owned. No shame in admitting that you didn't catch that hint of sarcasm, but there's no reason to come back and claim that you were being sarcastic, too.

This is just pure rediculous, you can say anything sarcastically as long as you say in a sarcastic tone. And whose claiming I was sarcastic, I was sarcastic. The "and yet he gave it an A, indicating a very straight face expression." Thats why it's sarcastic, its giving a very obvious explanation to something that needs no explanation. The reason Im ticked though is because this has happened a few too many times now where apparently I was "owned" when if you heard me say it in real life you would have heard the sarcasm without even thinking about it.
Im not the average meatcock on this site that doesnt know anything. I'm pretty well educated and have been in comedy for 4 years now, and am beginning to make a pretty good living on sticking to a sarcastic tone. I can easily distinguish when someone is joking and when someone isn't. And to think I couldnt distinguish when someone said "What did he say, and two translate's right after" is just ludicrous thinking.
See I have the problem of talking like the way Bill Murray does in movies in real life, and when Im typing on sites like this it sometimes doesnt translate well which leads may lead me to look like a simpleton, but big deal. But believe me, if I have an opportunity to make a post that is comical to myself and at the same time not offensive to others.
Oh, but Zingaling knows about comedy, and throws the word "owned" around a lot. So he must be correct. If that doesnt convince you then Im sorry, but tough shit, I've wasted too much time on explaining my type of humor on this post. Ill make sure to put (In sarcastic tone) after everyone of my posts from now on. But then wheres the fun in a joke if it needs to be explained.

Just bow out gracefully, dude. That's why no one likes Jeff here - he tried to pull this on Zingaling in his "Thread where I educate bABA about sex," and everyone could read the bullshit from a mile away. If it was sarcasm, it was bad sarcasm. That's why NO ONE thought it was funny. Don't try to compare yourself to the greats; i doubt John Belushi would read Dark Shape's post and be like "he was trying to say...," then take excel's EXACT words, add a couple vowels and call it sarcasm. That's not sarcasm. That's not comedy. That's just empty, useless space. Thegun wrote: Im not the average meatcock on this site that doesnt know anything. You don't use prepositions and punctuation correctly. You write with as much eloquence as excel does. "Rediculous?" Hahahahahahaha, how well-educated ARE you? Rediculously well-educated?! (I know, I know, that was dumb. Mr. X-ish dumb). It didn't convince me, but please, for the love of god, don't waste ANY more time trying to explain your type of humor, because NONE OF US understand it. When you explain it in four badly-written paragraphs, you make whatever "joke" is there less-funny.

Everyone is blowing a simple little comment out of proportion.
It wasn't a joke Da torri, and it wasn't meant to be taken comical. I just was making a point that I knew that the guy was joking that made the comment that I responted to. What shit are you trying to feed me? You claim its useless to explain a joke (which was not what I was doing, just that it wasn't a comment of stupidity)
Meanwhile you take the time to actually analyze an entire post that has little relevance to Casino Royale, making no points of your own (I called myself a comedian and compared myself to famous comedian? Not hardly, or if I were you, HARDLY. I used them as a reference and would never call myself a comedian, I said I've been in comedy for four years) but rather degrade me for no apparent reason. You're not even in the conversation, it was a remark Moviedude made to me.
And don't talk about grammar, you made several errors as well. Read your last sentence. (And yes, I know rediculous is spelled ridiculous, I got it wrong first time aound, big whoop. I'm glad you got such a big laugh out of it.)
If you expected me to think people would hysterically laugh at that comment you need to get out more. It was a meaningless little bullshit comment I decided to make (When is that a crime on this site.) Then Zing said I got owned for something that wasn't even true. If what I was saying was actual false, I would have never responded and moved on. Whats the error in trying to explain myself?
OMFG WHY ARE WE STILL TALKING ABOUT THIS?
And why would anyone laugh at me? I'm about as average a poster as they come. The only person that has ever stressed otherwise was BKB, and why would that bother me? He has an enemy list in the hundreds. And Zing should know that Im not making fun of him, ever since DMC we've had a basic understanding haha.
So relax Da Torri, save your energy for a good debate rather than something so pointless. And in case you missed it during your rant, the whole point of the converstaion was whether I knew Dark Shape was joking or not. I BEG YOU TO PLEASE NOT LOOK BACK AND ACTUALLY TRY AND INTERPRET IT, IT'S NOT WORTH THE TIME.
Let's move on. Casino Royale was amazing.

A ton better than I thought it was be. When I first heard of Craig being cast, I thought it was a terrible idea, but must say after watching the flick it was exactly what the series needed - a Bond with a much harder edge. I kept thinking it was Bond meets the Transporter.
Anyhow, it definitely had some flaws - overlong by about 25 minutes, and a few stupid scenes (the girl crying in the shower comes to mind as the worst). And, I thought the Bond girls were not anything special this time around. But all in all it was exactly what the franchise needed - a more action packed and exciting Bond.

I pretty much agree with Tony. Good film, but too long; then again, maybe it's me -- I don't have the best patience.

This film ruled my ass.
I've been a big Bond fan for over 20 years. Watched all the movies, read all the original Fleming books. And this film indeed is the most accurate portrayal of Bond ever, when compared to books.
It's also the best Bond movie ever made.
It's not perfect, since the structure is a bit all over the place. But regardless of this I felt the intensity lagged only a bit at the midpoint with all the repetitive poker business. And the film seemingly has a FOURTH act in it, which might be offputting to some, but I didn't mind because at that point the film had me eating from it's hand. And it might have been not the best choice that the film is strangely frontloaded with the two best action segments coming within the first 40 minutes.
Fortunately the film clicks regardless, because it works on so many other levels besides some great action.
First of all Craig absolutely RULES in the role and createst the most interesting, complex and fascinating Bond so far. He is funny and sarcastic, yet sad and melancholic. He's almost psychotically ruthless, yet occasionally displays a lot of warmth and tenderness. He is vulnerable and even fragile, yet extremely strong both mentally and physically. And he's determined as hell, there is absolutely no fucking way to stop this guy.
Everyone else besides Craig also did excellent work. Green is beautiful and charming, combining vulnerability with strenght - And shares great chemistry with Craig. Mikkelsen is charismatic, focused and complex. And he is a refreshingly no-bullshit villain who gets straight to the point. Dench is great, and better than in previous entries.
The love story was poignant, complex and powerful. I was sincerely surprised how much emotion it raised in me. I think this is one of the best love stories I've seen in recent years, because it was complex, and never had any easy answers to anything.
The film is also a suprisingly in-depth character study. And it has real gravitas, real passion, real HEART.
This is the best directing job Cambell has ever done. His handling of the actors was spot on, and the suspense and action sequences were built with great skill, and the staging was aces. Also the musical score, cinematography and editing were all top notch. The film looks both glamourous and gritty, depending on the context of the scenes. It's a very handsome production.
I'm now eagerly anticipating the next installment. It's a shame that Campbell isn't returning, since this is easily the best directed Bond of all time, and I really hope someone equally worthy does the next chapter.
When I was a kid Bond movies were for me a magical world of mystery, glamour and danger. When I got older, much of that magic went away and the films didn't stand up to the more critical eyes of my adult self. Instead of being magical they just seemed cheesy. Entertaining, but cheesy.
Casino Royale has brought that magical world back to me. I felt like a kid watching this movie.
Big thanks to Campbell, Craig & Co for that.
8/10 - A very good movie with several moments of true greatness.

That scene was corny as hell and trite - " I... I... (sob)... can't get the blood off my hands... (sob)". *barf*
Well, I would have barfed had I not been laughing so hard.

CASINO ROYALE - 6/10 (B-)
It's well-made and better than the other Bond movies I've seen, but I can't say I was completely enthralled by it. I just never find myself totally involved with what's going on in these movies.
