LA Confenditial as your #3 I also haven't seen, and Hoosiers at #13 I HATED, just boring to me. Rest are sweet though. You're not alone. I own the DVD, but I still haven't gotten around to watching it yet. Maybe tomorrow...
I own it on VHS and only watched it once.

I prefer the original crew, personally.
The Motion Picture had one of the best scores of all time. For some reason, however, I've never warmed up to the picture. It was a failed attempt at mimicking 2001... and it just stands as a symbol of Trek's motion pictures inability to hardly ever find a working groove. Collectively, the entire motion picture series stands as a dissappointment imo.

This is probably a terrible idea, since I have a thousand things to do, but I've begun finalizing a list I was working on for here.
So I'm bumping this, and will probably update it in the morning.
Yoshue's Top 100.....coming soon!

It's so damn hard. So many movies I love, and so many being forced off the list.

I forgot about that one. I speak of it often, right before Be Cool came out, but its a movie that shouldn't drop to the periphery afterwards. Its really good. I think the first weekend we rented it, we saw it three times. Even my mom saw it twice. She thought the SUV jokes were particularly funny. This is a great movie, with genuine new forms of humour. Do the Right Thing, Crimes and Misdemeanors are the only two other movies of that ten I've seen. :-( Quote: 90 Deliverance (John Boorman, 1973) 89 To Be or Not To Be (Ernst Lubitsch, 1942) 88 Black Narcissus (Michael Powell/Emeric Pressberger, 1947) 87 Arsenic and Old Lace (Frank Capra, 1944) 86 Safety Last! What began as incredibly smart and psychological quickly just descended into a typical horror movie where who ever is chasing just refuses to dissappear. You go a couple hundred miles on a canoe and the same guy has kept up with you the whole way? That and while there was some psychological exploration of Reynold's and especially Voight's charaters, the other two drop off the radar. I can't believe Beatty ends up being the most well adjusted considering he was the one that was raped. So, still a strong story, but it weakens rather than strengthens as the movie runs down, which is dissappointing. Miller's Crossing is good, and very very different for a Coen Brothers movie. Western Falcon????
Pulp is just not even close to my favorite Tarantino. My most favorite is Jackie Brown, followed by Kill Bill. Pulp Fiction...just...dragged.
Fellowship is by far the best of the three LotR movies.

Do the Right Thing, Crimes and Misdemeanors are the only two other movies of that ten I've seen. :-( Glad to see you agree with Get Shorty. What a hilarious, smart, cool flick. But you haven't seen Groundhog Day? Whaaaaa? dolcevita wrote: I didn't love Deliverance that much. Miller's Crossing is good, and very very different for a Coen Brothers movie. Your DELIVERANCE points are pretty valid, but I disagree that it devolves into a typical horror movie. What was so surprising to me when I finally saw it (not long ago) was how little of the movie actually involves everyone's favorite rapist hillbillies. That aspect was far, far less interesting than the nature elements, but luckily, despite the movie's "reputation," it wasn't about those two at all. They're introduced and dispatched of relatively quickly. I'll agree that his keeping up with (actually getting AHEAD of) them was a tad far fetched. I don't know. When I watch the movie, I can almost literally smell the water. It's just really powerful. dolcevita wrote: Western Falcon????

Fellowship is by far the best of the three LotR movies. Thanks for the catch. I've fixed the, uh, "Western Falcon." As you'll see once the list is complete, I agree with you on both counts. Yes, Jackie Brown is the best Tarantino movie. And yes, FOTR is the best of the RINGS trilogy. BJ wrote: Amazing, I have not seen a single film on this list Well, BJ, you've got some work to do. Dkmuto wrote: Lots I haven't seen (but want to), though The Invisible Man would actually be on my list, too.
Yeah, I put the Invisible Man on there literally at the last second, replacing THE RULING CLASS with Peter O'Toole. My favorite of the early Universal monster flicks (sorry, Frankenstein).
If there's any CLUE fans out there (and there always are), I'd recommend you check out No. 61 on the list, MURDER BY DEATH. It's in very much the same vein.

Nice to see Fisher King!
I really enjoyed Day for Night... why Cortese failed to win an Oscar is weird. Darn that Ingrid!

oops, my turn for correction. Yes, I have, but I've never been so enthused by it as everyone else. It had an ok premesis, but started to repeat itself after awhile. That was the point, as every morning is the same morning, but after awhile the cycle become to formulaic. A set given amount of time assigned to each day, until the final day when he gets it right. Really, I thought it was entertaining, but I watched it once, and probably won't see it again. I saw it a long time ago, so except for the ice cream on the windowsill, I don't remember the details. I just remember not being so wowed by it.
