91. Army of Darkness: I have to put an Evil Dead film here. A top 100 list isn’t right without one. I love Bruce Campbell and I love Sam Raimi. Sam Raimi will pop back on here again, but Campbell sadly won’t.

92. The Transporter: A surprise pick I think. I was told this movie was great, and I didn’t buy it. But then I saw it and loved it. Jason Statham’s character of Frank Martin may be one of the baddest SOB’s ever. I loved this movie from its stylish fight sequences to its ridiculous car chases.

93. Bloodsport: I had to put a Van Damme movie in here. While I’m from nearby Pittsburgh and Sudden Death has a place in my heart, I’m picking Bloodsport. Just the sheer entertainment out of the final battle between the champion and Van Damme is classic.

94. The Time Machine: While I did enjoy the newer version with one of my favs, Guy Pearce, I enjoyed the original more. One of the quintessential great sci-fi movies in history.

95. Speed: A great thriller starring Keanu Reeves, Sandra Bullock, and Jeff Daniels.

96. The Last Starfighter: I’m also a sucker for science fiction since I grew up with Star Trek and some Star Wars. This is a great film that anyone who likes sci-fi and video games should check out.

97. The Last of the Mohicans: I’m a sucker for 1700 style films, but I put The Last of the Mohicans here mainly because of my love of the book and its author, James Fenimore Cooper.

98. Platoon: This movie should also be called “War is Hell”. It is a serious drama about the Vietnam War and its impact on the soldiers in the Vietnamese jungles. Willem Dafoe gives a great performance.

99. Dances With Wolves: Kevin Costner is one of my favorite actors and his first film in this countdown appears here. This is a great drama about a Civil War soldier and his journeys with Native Americans. It shows us a lot about how savage they could be and how respectful they could be as well. The score is amazing in this film.

100. The Manchurian Candidate: The original starring Frank Sinatra is miles ahead of the Denzel remake. This is a great film relating toward brainwashing and government.

I like the list so far, a hint though if its possible which it may not be, but it flows much better if it goes from 100-91 going down the page so you can read it as a countdown, rather than 91 going up. No matter though I can read from the bottom up, it just seems backwards.

Bwahahaha! Army of Darkness. *Sigh* The first Bruce Campbell movie i ever saw. So funny. But I found out later that it was a comic extension of a character he'd played in the previous movies (which I haven't seen). I couldn't possibly envision Bruce's heavy machismo being serious!

I really like the inclusion of Army of Darkness, Dances With Wolves (a wonderful epic that has gained a bad rap for two reasons: 1)Beat GOODFELLAS at the Oscars 2) General Costner hate) and Last of the Mohicans.

And I really have to get around to watching PLATOON. One of those ones that I've never gotten around to. Odd.

90. American Psycho: Christian Bale’s first great role. Its satirical look on serial killers is frightening, yet very funny as well.


89. The American President: One of the best political films ever, but it’s not really a political film as is. As a romantic comedy, it works extremely well and its smart. Michael Douglas and Michael J. Fox are great in it as well.


88. The Replacements: Known as Keanu’s first film since the first Matrix film, its underrated in its comedy. Gene Hackman, Reeves, and Orlando Jones star in this film about a football team of hapless losers.


87. Gangs of New York: A sweeping epic, I was very surprised by this. Daniel Day-Lewis’s interpretation of Bill the Butcher is one of the best performances I have seen.


86. That Thing You Do!: Tom Hanks directed along with other parts this film. It has a place in my heart because most of the film was shot in nearby Erie, Pennsylvania and the scene with the first performance by the Wonders was shot on the campus of my girlfriend’s college, Mercyhurst College.


85. Patriot Games: I’m a sucker for Tom Clancy and Patriot Games is my favorite out of the four. Harrison Ford is great as Jack Ryan.



84. Philadelphia: Tom Hanks appears again as AIDS-diagnosed lawyer Andrew Beckett. Denzel is great in this as well. It’s emotional and powerful.


83. A Knight’s Tale: A very fun movie. I found what the director and the screenwriter did was an interesting take on the medieval ages. It made it hip. Sure, it wasn’t the greatest film in the world, but it definitely made me laugh and cheer at the end.



82. The Lion King: One of my favorite Disney films, but also one of the only ones I actually enjoy. The Lion King is a fun movie mainly because of the story and the way it is presented. I also notice the faint resemblance to Shakespeare’s Hamlet. This gets a plus in my book. The score and songs are fabulous.


81. The Matrix: A thought-provoking film, I thought The Matrix was an excellent philosophical film as well as a political one. It’s deep and it really gives us a sense of rebelling against agency and order.


80. The Rock: Sean Connery and Nic Cage? No way. I never would have pictured it until it actually happened. A tough action flick, I enjoyed it. But then again, I enjoy anything with Sean Connery.



79. 12 Angry Men: A courtroom drama starring Peter Fonda. Fabulous film and it is an interesting character piece as well.


78. City Slickers: I got into this after my dad. He likes westerns and he likes comedies. Mix the two together and you have City Slickers.


77. Fargo: A great film that surprised me as I was watching it.


76. Jaws: The greatest horror film of all time. Miles ahead of Jason or Freddy, the shark eats ‘em all up for lunch.


75. Mystic River: What I like about Mystic River is the sheer emotion the characters pull out of you while watching it, especially Tim Robbins and Sean Penn.


74. Say Anything: This reminds me about my love life and how this movie has snuck its way through any relationship I had tried to have with anyone.


73. Spaceballs: A great parody that you could laugh at without even seeing the source material behind it.


72. Real Genius: A very underrated film about super-smart kids in college. Val Kilmer stars in it.


71. Tommy Boy: I love Chris Farley still to this day. Some of the lines are sheer brilliance and it has a hint of heart to it as well.


70. Big Trouble in Little China: The classic cult film directed by John Carpenter. The film has it all from hysterical comedy to great action and great fantasy elements. Kurt Russell is great.

Awesome list thus far! I forgot to put Fargo on mine, its a great black comedy. That Thing You Do! I like as well, and John Cusack in Say Anything is pretty darn cool.

69. Total Recall: Could be the best Arnold has ever done. It’s a great film with plenty of twists and turns… plus it’s a Philip K. Dick story.


68. A Time To Kill: Read the book by Grisham first. Thought it was great. Watched the movie and I loved the material even moreso. Performances by Matthew McConaughey and Sam Jackson make this film.


67. Jurassic Park: One of the best scenes in all of movie history has got to be when Sam Neill, Jeff Goldblum, and Laura Dern first meet up with the Brontosaurus. One of the best scores in all of movies, a killer script, great special effects, and great direction.


66. Dumb and Dumber: One of the best comedies ever. Its classic outlook on stupidity is great. If you wanna see something weird then watch this film for Jeff Daniels and then watch my no. 30 greatest film of all time.


65. Who Framed Roger Rabbit?: A great film with or without the animation. A modern film noir done extremely well with great performances by Bob Hoskins and Christopher Lloyd.


64. Glory: I liked this film because of its social look on African-Americans. The 52nd Massachusetts, the first African-American troop in the Civil War, was filled with heroes, portrayed remarkably by Matthew Broderick and Denzel Washington


63. Pulp Fiction: The best QT film. I love its look and its style. The scene involving QT, Travolta, Jackson, and Keitel is classic.


62. X2: A great super-hero film with good performances by Hugh Jackman and one of my favorite actors, Patrick Stewart.



61. School of Rock: I was told by a few people that I look like a bigger, more sophisticated Jack Black. Hmm… maybe. This film has great songs and a performance by Jack Black that is awesome.


60. Donnie Darko: Never heard anything about this film when I saw it, but I watched it and loved it. The feel of the film, along with its subtleties is what stands out the most.


59. To Kill A Mockingbird: Gregory Peck is brilliant in this film. Atticus Finch is one of the greatest movie heroes ever.



58. The Mask of Zorro: A great action flick that brought back swashbuckling to the silver screen.


57. Clerks: Kevin Smith’s first great film. It has a lot of truths in it that boost it up the countdown for me.


56. Goldeneye: The most entertaining Bond film, but it is also the beginning of Pierce Brosnan as 007. Great villain and a great plot make for a lot of fun.


55. High Fidelity: The best Cusack film to date. Reminds me about myself and a few other friends who obsess over good music.


54. On Golden Pond: Reminded me of my grandparents. I loved this film about love during the last years of one’s life.


53. Die Hard: A brilliant action flick with Bruce Willis showing his chops. Great action along with great acting.


52. Mission Impossible: One of my favorite Tom Cruise flicks. Good stuff.


51. Star Trek Generations: Here ya go, Maximus. One of the greatest moments in my movie history is the meeting between Captain Jean-Luc Picard and Captain James T. Kirk. WOW.

You've got a lot of recent movies, Muha, which is not how I'd go, but you picked some damn good ones!

Pulp Fiction. X2, which is my personal favorite comic book flick. School of Rock. I agree that Total Recall is Arnie's best movie. Plus, High Fidelity, a great, underrated romantic comedy.

But I'm truly surprised by your inclusion of Star Trek: Generations. I love the series, but that is BY FAR the worst. Even the infamous Shatner-directed FINAL FRONTIER is better. It's the only one I don't, and won't, own. What did you like about it?

thats surprising because i clearly thought that other star treks were much worse. while it is not my favorite ST film, theres one other, i still think its a great film.

i thought V was worse, i thought III was worse as well. also insurrection and nemesis were the worst out of the ST:TNG films.

also, about the newer films...


i just like the newer films anyway. most of the films on the list come from the 80s to the late 90s with a few exceptions here and there.

maybe its the direction or the fast pacing of some of these films... i dunno.

im gonna finish the list tonight, just to let everyone know.

im leaving for university tomorrow and the opportunity is gonna get smaller and smaller for me to finish it.

only thing is that there wont be any pictures ex. for the top ten.
