So forth:

10. Moulin Rouge
9. The Godfather
8. True Romance
7. Star Wars Episode V: Empire Strikes Back

#6 is coming up! I hyped it up earlier, if you read back...its RT rating is pretty good, but its not usually rated in one of the critical favorites list.

After #6 I'm done for the night probably.

South Park: Bigger Longer and Uncut

Directed by Trey Parker

Written By Trey Parker, Matt Stone
Voices by mostly Trey Parker, Matt Stone

Storyline/Why its at number 6: I know what the general thoughts about the movie is: But its juvinile, buts its crass, and so on. How do you combat general consenseous that the movie will be cussing, racist, etc.? Live up to those expectations but make it funny as hell, easy answer. And yet Trey Parker and Matt Stone didn't stop there, they made it much much more, they appalled it the next level. They must've sat there one day, come up with the premise of Terrance and Philips movie asses of fire starting a natiobnal crisis and said to themselves 'Lets not stop at the shows level, lets push the boundries so its so fecking great, they'll never forget this movie. I mean it we can do something here that will actually live on for years' With animation typically they can only go so far, meaning 98% of is aimed directly for the 4-11 age group, with their parents, thats what makes the most money and so thats how the movie come out. But with South Park they had something complelty different, it hit the same audience as your typical live-action movie. The premise:A crisis is started by Canadian Terrance and Philip as they release the illegimate movie Asses of Fire(featuring shut your f*cking face uncle f*cker) and starts a American against Canadian war. The movie is set as a musical sung by the characters themselves. The plot is thickened with Satan and lover Saddam in hell waiting to rise above and take over, having Kenny along with them as the third wheel.

The movie is possibly the most racist movie of all time. The jokes against Canada are hilarity, the way the animation on them talks etc. Meanwhile theres also the old-fashioned black jokes(operation human shield*all black people stand up*) which if it wasn't done in such a matter it would be christened to hell. Meanwhile in hell Satan and Saddam his lover are having relationship troubles, with Leo over their bed. Now Saddam is one hell of a character, they struck gold with him. They literally took a picture of Saddam Huissian, cut a hole through its mouth, and put it on a stick body. They gave him the perfect voice and gestures and made him a lover of muscly Satan. Both Satan and Saddam are two of the most cracking animation characters of all time. Eventually they rise to earth and have a domination fit, only to be thrawrted by Cartmans voltage chip in his brain activated by cussing. Satan throws him down and sees the good helped by unhooded Kenny, and all is well as everything is set back to normal. I'll say this: South Park Bigger Longer and Uncut already heralded in Guiness as the most swearing and racist etc. movie ever, ranked by me as the top animation, might also be the funniest workings on screen of all time.

Image
Image

Other notables: They introduced the Saddam character in the 1st season, far before the movie. After the movie they made an episode of what happened between them, he and this Chris guy fight over Satan, and Saddam gets banished to Heaven-which leads to a further episode where they want to build to ladder to heaven to flush him out of making his womd in heaven, but they never finish the ladder. Also god is a rat. And Blame Canada was nominated for Best Song as the Oscars, Robin Williams sang it.

Whooo thats a long article of review, it actually didn't take me that long though I knew what I was writing pretty easily, 8 9 and 10 all took longer to find the pictures and get the words out right. But thats by far the longest article. By the way one last thought before I'm off for the night: To me South Park and Moulin Rouge are 1 and 2 in terms of musical, I had that mapped out from the beginning. Some ways Moulin is in fact better, they each take it their own ways, on this list I made South Park 6 and Moulin 10, both are excellent. For now South Park remains the better movie overall, but in musical-feel and how it moves you and how the characters mean it Moulin is probably better.

Ok I'm done for the night. Top 5 coming soon!

The South Park movie is quite possibly the most underated film ever because it is racist and a cartoon. The South Park movie had an orginal storyline (well kind of), funny dialoge, and wonderful musical scenes, personaly it is my favorite musical (excluding Song of the South).

Lawrence of Arabia

Stars: Peter O'Toole

About T.E. Lawrence and his Arabia conquest

Storyline/Why its at number 5: Ok the reason I've been taking so long to do these is they've been tiring me out. So I'm gonna keep it real short. LoA is about T.E. and him taking Arabia pretty much, its generally considered the greatest epic of all time. He glows among the desert sands and you really feel for it. Theres thrilling moments, theres concerning moments such at the part where the guy shoots him 'You gotta kill me with a silver bullet' or something like that, and theres more. The battle scenes are pretty good. So yeah everything about the movie works. Its at number 5.

Other notes: It basicly swept the Oscars winning Best Picture etc etc,

I'm keeping it coming. Before I do my top 4 I'd like to say one though: Another reason why this has taken so long is I've found it hard to grasp my number 1. To me its near impossible to strike one down as the number 1, while looking at my list of top 4 to me it'd make a perfect 2-5, all seem perfect to be 'wow top of the list awesome, what could be better'. So in my mind these 4 are almost all equal and I've had each one at number 1 on my list at different time then replacing it and moving it again and again. I've actually been contemplating putting them as the top four together not giving them places, just saying they're the top 4, but that would ruin the suspense and just be a flopping disappointment, so I'm doing it places, though its reallllllly hard putting one below the other and so forth. So here I go:

number 4!
Image
Se7en

Stars: Brad Pitt, Morgan Freeman, Kevin Spacey as John Doe
Directed by David Fincher

About: A psychopath uses the 7 deadly sins as his murders...

Storyline/Why its at number 4: Hehe, I know this wasn't the original number 4, but it is now. Se7en will bash your insides like no other movie, and for good reason. Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman are detectives when they get called onto a murder involving a man eating himself to death. They examine it, and move on. Soon a lawyer is killed and Greed is spelled on the wall. They go back to the fat mans death and find Gluttony on the wall. They put two and two together and realize this man is killing from sins. The sins continue in orderly fashion, sloth, lust, and pride. Through it all we get more and more sickening images and more and more insight. We meet Brad Pitt's wife played by Gwenyth Paltrow, and we learn how they bought their apartment at a cheap price only to learn its under a subway, which goes by every like 15 minutes or so. We see in Brad Pitt's eyes a look of rage, but we move on. Through it all Se7en remains a conflicting movie, very real and very nerve hitting. In case you haven't seen the movie I won't ruin John Does(Kevin Spaceys) ending, he makes the perfect finish to his seven sin masterpiece. Wrath and Envy are portrayed. All and all Se7en is one hell of a movie to watch, it really pulls you in. And thats why its so high.

Other notes: The book used in the movie The Divine Comedy is an actual well-known book.

number 3!
Image
The Princess Bride

Stars: Cary Elwes, Robin Wright Penn, and Andre the Giant as Fezzik
Directed by Rob Reiner

About: A farmer falls in love with a Princess, when he supposibly dies she moves on but wait...

Storyline/Why its at number 3: The Princess Bride, man its one hell of a movie, and thats all you can say. None of the names in it to this day stand out. The director Rob Reiner(in my mind doesn't count), Wallace Shawn is kind of a recognizable face but noone knows his name, and Andre the Giant the wrestler. Other than that it went off pure out of nowhere. Its THE fairy-tale movie, theres been no point trying to adapt fairy-tales nowadays like they do superheros because nothing will come close to this. The premise: A farmboy Westly works for Princess Buttercup, and they fall in love, only to have him supposibly die in a pirate capture. She moves on a couple years, and gets engaged to Prince Humperdink, who as the name suggests is a dink. Of course she still loves Westly but hes dead right? So as shes engaged a troupe of three kidnaps her, but they get followed by the man in black. After this in the best sequence of the movie pretty much he thrawts them all. The first is the greatest swordfight in movie history, between man in black and Inigo. The second is blah the worst of the three where he takes down the giant. The 3rd is an absolutly amazing monolouge, one of the most enticing ever, between man in black and the troupe leader. Through this outwitting man in black wins, and gets Buttercup. The man in black is indeed...Westly. Through the rest of the movie they reconcile, make out for a while, and have trouble with Humperdink. Humperdink takes her back and tortures him, almost killing him. They go back to Humperdinks castle where Inigo faces his nemesis etc etc and they take down the Prince and save the Princess, and they live happily ever after. In short it works amazingly, featuring some of the best scenes ever. Only a few things make it sub-par when compared with 1 2 and 4. The acting, and it doesn't have the intesity of 1 2 and 4, yet its so righteous that it can indeed surpass 4 American Beauty as number 3. But yeah the intesity and gripping emotional factor is whats keeping it as number 3 and not number 1, though it probably scene by scene has some of the best.
Image
Image

Other notes: The girl who plays Buttercup Robin Penn is Sean Penn's wife, though she hasn't done much since this movie.

Hmm...I have the two movies left, still undecided on which goes where. I have one conventional choice, meaning it usually takes a spot every time on these list. The other is a little more unconventional out of nowhere meaning that it isn't normally in the top movies ever list, yet I think it definitly is. If I choose the conventional one it ruins my approach to the list, my compelling approach, the omigod thats different list, and the number 1 is the same old thing as it always is listed as. If I go with the other one I don't sound legit, as its more recent and more of my frame of view. Yet I have the ultimate lead-up to what it could possibly be. Because yes it is a bit more recent its not as sound of a #1 meaning alot of people will definitly not agree with it, citing that can't possibly be the greatest film of all time.

number 2!

Casablanca

Stars: Humphrey Bogart, Ingrid Bergman
Directed by Micheal Curtiz

About: A cafe serves as a haven in the middle of a war, its run by Rick, all is well until a recognizable lady walks in the door...

Storyline/Why its at number 2: Casablanca was my conventional choice I spoke of earlier. Many things are great about the piece, which it is considered by some critics the greatest film of all time. Basicly its the middle of a war and Rick owns a cafe, and one day his old flame walks in with the leader of the revolution. Something about Bogart's performance in the film is eerily amazing, its so real. Anyways as they go through with trying to get along they recount past memories and such, they sing to Sams music, and they conspire to help the revolution. This includes hiding papers in the piano and such. Eventually through it all Rick and his lover get together and make out for a while, and its in full throttle now. He has to make a decision either he keeps his flame and lets the war extend to worse matters due to the leader of the revolution and such, or he lets her go. Rick's one companion who stands by him is Louis, and at the end where Rick pulls out his gun and shoots the officer, Louis saves him and tells the guard to round up the usual suspects. All and all Casablanca is the best romance movie ever, has the most recognizable lines, only one thing keeps it from the top spot. And thats the movie above it.

Other notes: The line Play it Again Sam is non-existant, she actually says Play it Sam, Play as Time Goes By.

NUMBER 1!
Image
American Beauty

Stars: Kevin Spacey, Annete Bening

About: An insight to a neighborhood, its life done exceptionally well.

Storyline/Why its at number 4: NUMBER 1 IS FINALLY HERE!!!!!!!!!
Yeahhhh! And yes I fooled up, I had this movie as number 1 for basicly the whole process then the day I put the top 4 in must've been feeling something off about it to put it at number 4. But anyways now I'm back to my senses and putting it as number 1. For some reason I had Se7en as the better film, but after I re-examined it I realized that as good as Se7en was, this is better. So I swapped them. The premise: Kevin Spacey plays Lester, a man fed up with his life. Annete Bening plays his wife, a woman too far into her motherhood that she can't just let loose every once and a while. Thora Birch is his daughter. Other characters in the film include his daughter's pot-smoking boyfriend, the boyfriend's closet homophobe but really gay himself dad, Peter Gallagher plays the King a real-estate agent who has sex with Kevin Spaceys wife, theres the daughter's best friend who Spacey wants to get with, and so on. The movie is a look at at life never done before in this matter, so insightful and so beautifully done. As we get to the end where Lester gets shot in the back of the head, we realize all different matters of life at once. The acting is superb in the film and everything works. I wouldn't be surprised if in 2050 it is considered along with Citizen Kane and Casablanca as a general critics consenseous as one of the definite greatest films of all time. Its certainly my choice as of even now. *smiles* Reasons it beats out Casablanca as the number 1 film of all time: The way it conducts itself is somewhat better, everything is more structured, its more edgy. The pacing on it is also great, we go from character to character and more insight is offered. While Casablanca is primarily Bogart and Bergman running with their acting balls, this movie blends together like magic while still letting the acting do its thing perfectly. Because American Beauty is more recent, they can experiment more, for example the rose scenes and also the scene with the bag. In Casablanca as classic are the scenes are its just dialouge, American Beauty is more visual as well as having dialouge. There is also darkly comedic moments in this film, that also help it. AMERICAN BEAUTY IS THE NUMBER 1 FILM OF ALL TIME!!!!!!!!
Image
Image

Other notes: Yes yes Kevin Spacey got best actor, the movie got best picture, Annete Bening was 'a lock' for best actress but she got is swiped away by Hilary Swank. Surprisingly Kevin Spacey who was on a major role when this came out is slightly in a downward spiral, but no doubt he'll climb out.

mwhahahahaha. I bet noone saw that coming.

Yes basicly for the entire time I had American Beauty as either 1 or 2 with Casablanca, and out of nowhere for a couple minutes I must've thought Se7en was better. Then I re-examined and realized I was terribly wrong, so I switched them again. Nevertheless Se7en is an absolutely amazing flim, 4th best of all time yuk yuk yuk, but yeah it just didn't work as number 1, and either did Casablanca to me for some reason, then I realized my number 4 movie was unjustly there and voila I changed it around. And I stand by it. So American Beauty is number 1, thats the end of my list. Quick recap of top 10:

10. Moulin Rouge
9. The Godfather
8. True Romance
7. Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back
6. South Park: Bigger Longer and Uncut
5. Lawrence of Arabia
4. Se7en
3. The Princess Bride
2. Casablanca

1. American Beauty

Yes its a little recent of a top ten looking at it now, but still alright by standards I say.

I love your list (what I can see of it, anyway!) too, Shack. It's obvious you've seen a good variety of great fucking films.

Casablanca, LOA, Godfather, South Park, Se7en!

It's funny to see just how bi-polar my reaction to your top 10 is, though. I am madly, deeply in love with those movies I mentioned above...but I hold nothing but ill will towards True Romance, Princess Bride, Moulin Rouge, and American Beauty. Interesting how that works out. No real middle ground there for me.

I'd love to look at your first 60 or so films, but my computer is moving so....slowly...that it's impossible right now. I'll try later.

Who's up next? I've love to throw my hat into this ring, when the time comes.
