Last night was the first full episode I have ever seen of Lost and only the second time I tuned in (the first was the episode were Ana Lucia bit the dust).

As a non-watcher, last night's episode was interesting, as one the hal fof one I saw before, but not enough to convince me to keep watching the show. I only watched last night since m boyfriend likes the show (he was grumpy that there was no Evangeline Lily).

I'll take Emilie de Ravin over Evangeline Lilly, but even Emilie had very few scenes last night, outside of the first ten minutes.

I'm concerned about Lost. I know it was Valentine's Day, but this much viewer erosion is kind of bad.

Like I've said many times before, the 10 pm push is hurting it most. Alot of families watch Lost, but 10 pm is cutting into alot of the people who'd watch it at 9 pm.

Lost is not going anywhere, don't worry. It won't be competing for a top ten spot, but it will still be coming back, so you really have nothing to worry about.

"While Lost is still a contender in the 18-49 demo, erosion year-to-year is particularily alarming. I would expect the series will probably be canceled in a week, in favor of reruns of the superbly underrated NCIS, King of Queens and 7th Heaven. I realize those two shows air on different networks, but ABC will likely jump at the opportunity. Did I mention how overrated Grey's Anatomy, The Office, How I Met Your Mother and Scrubs are? By the way, did you see Two and a Half Men this week? They need more Conchata Ferrell!! Pronto! And that ER, how awful it's doing. NBC should put it out of its misery already.

Did I mention how underrated NCIS is? It surely is. Who knew it could stand up against American Idol? Me, that's who.

What's scary is how accurate that is. Someone from here needs to start posting on that idiot's forum and wreak havoc.

:hahaha:  I don't think you missed anything.

Oh wait, you missed his reminder that contrary to what people say House is a hit on its own without American Idol 342609 times.

Lost is being deserted in droves due to its frustrating nature.

I think it's actually going to be lower than Alias' fourth season when its in season 4.
And Medium is currently doing an Alias in terms of ratings too. These two shows will not last for too much longer

i hardly think that a show which costs over $2m an episode is safe when it's only providing 12.5 million viewers.
It's not slouch considering the decline in ratings, but ABC expect LOST to be one of its biggest smash performers considering how much they invested in it. It's advertising campaign costs tens of millions.

Well in all honesty, Lost is a mega smash worldwide, so I think it would still be highly profitable for them to keep the show going even if it dipped below 10 m in the ratings here. Lost started out huge, but now more and more people are catching it over the summer w/ DVD, Itunes, etc, and overseas, the market is getting more and more worthwhile. While the ratings are lower, alot of Lost's money is coming from elsewhere now...

ABC can't afford to drop one of its top performing scripted shows. As pathetic as it may be, Lost is doing pretty good for ABC. Plus, there's DVD sales and syndication money to consider.

Lost won't be cancelled this year. Worse case scenerio they decided to end it next year. I actually agree with O that the 10PM thing is killing it. They be better off putting it on at 8PM.

Why did they move it to 9 in the first place? They wouldn't have had to worry about the Idol drop off last season.

And Veronica Mars wouldn't have been up against it and would've gotten the ratings it did whenever Lost was a repeat all the time.

One other thing has come into my mind over how Lost is doing. Many shows now that are succeeding are helped immensely by multicultural casts.

A.I is one example, with many multicultural contestants, and the three judges/Ryan.
Grey's Anatomy (very multicultural)
Survivor (many believed that the most multicultural cast was also one of the most engaging Survivors, but it also brought alot of different demos in viewers..)
Ugly Betty
ER

etc.

Lost when it started was one of the most multicultural casts ever in television. But when the show just focuses on three people, alot of those core demos might be turned away, as there is no mention or sight of Sayid, Jin, Michael, Walt, Sun, Rose, and Michelle Rodriguez and Eko are off the show, those demos get lost in the ratings. And as Grey's Anatomy shows, a multicultural cast in TV has worked huge wonders in getting a wide spectrum of people watching a show. By concentrating just on three characters for nearly this entire season, and not hearing from any of the rest of the multicultural cast, I do think that has hurt its ratings as well...as odd as that theory sounds. IMO they need to make this show appeal to all demos again, and work hard to include most of the cast in every episodes. Flashbacks are still fine, but don't completely cut out characters, like what has happened so far this season and started in the 2nd half of last season...

Lost isn't doing great but it isn't doing horrible, still doing almost as well as 24, and part of the drop can be attributed to the later time slot. We might not think of it as a family show, with all the violence, but it won an award for family shows after it's first year and some people view it that way.

The last two episodes were solid and entertaining.
