WOW!!! The Release scheds are going crazy this week.
Still reeling from the Mummy's choice of release date. Not good but ok.
August 08 needs something big - Hellboy aint big enough.
Im now fairly certain Wolverine wont make it in 08.
The Wolf Man opening in Nov -just helps to make Nov 08 on of the biggest months ever! Bond, Potter, Wolfman, Madagascar.

Oh great, now there are 8 wide release movies on Easter Weekend, and only 4 on the once infamous April 27th date. Crazy Studios!

Interesting to note : DOA is getting a US release on June 22 up against Evan Almighty.

One Missed Call Warner Bros. From 8/24/07 to 1/4/08
Lions for Lambs MGM 11/9/07
In the Valley of Elah Warner Independent 9/21/07
Rogue Weinstein / Dimension 4/20/07
Nice position for Lions for Lambs as there was nothing going up against Fred Clause. Also positions it nicely for awards.

Lions for Lambs has the exact same wide release date as Babel.
Let the worrying begin.
I expect the "Director's follow-up to Best Picture winner" curse to continue with In the Valley of Elah. A wide release in September? I guess the best way that would work is a screener-ready DVD release in September...

Martian Child moving to June 29 is just bizarre. Five wide releases and they come out 5 days before Transformers/License to Wed open. What a joke. Studios have really lost the plot this year.

Details on the remake should pop up in the next week. ABOUT DAMN FREAKING TIME!!! At least we have a remake of a film that was made over 50 years ago, so it probably won't really feel like a remake at all. I'm interested in what approach they are going to with this. The original sounds like it could be more of a drama than a sci-fi film. But maybe in order to make bigger bucks, Fox may go for more of a sci-fi approach than drama. Though its release date is not the best. I mean, if this is supposed to be a tentpole and potential 100m+ grossfer for Fox, it shold have a June slot. May 2008 is not a good place for a non-franchise film right now. Narnia/IJ4 are going to be big, and Iron Man is looking to be bigger and bigger as it gets closer, espically with the recent succuess of Ghost Rider. I feel June would be better for it, but maybe Fox has some other tentpole ready for June 2008.
Yeah, right now the only other "likely" Summer 2008 release they have on their internal site is the Eddie Murphy sci-fi comedy STARSHIP DAVE.
I guess Shutter or Death Sentence could wind up in Summer, but none of them seem particularly blockbuster.
I would also not be surprised if THE DARK IS RISING slips to next year, but going with a Narnia knockoff immediately after the real thing seems silly.
STARSHIP DAVE
DEATH SENTENCE
SHUTTER
For what it's worth the DALLAS remake is also still on their slate, but again, not really a blockbuster contender anymore, if it ever was.
