OK im back,

hmmm, the movie was so-so, something is missing!, i think its the lack of fighting, of action!
but it was good!, i was expecting more, im a little disappointed!

B-

BTW, i think the Elektra will do very poorly over here, about....let see....i say 30-35% of the theater was full, it has about 400-450 seats! and none of the other showings were full!

What will I go with? Should I lie and say the movie is bad, so people don't think I'm biased for Jennifer Garner? Should I say it was enjoyable fun, and risk people thinking I am biased? Will people pick up if I lie?

Screw it. I'll give you the hard, honest truth. Jennifer Garner is great as Elektra, and that's from both standpoints. But, she has her flaws. Not necessarily Jen, but Elektra. I was extremely happy to see 95% of the time that Elektra was the serious Elektra that I wanted, not someone who cracked jokes before slitting someone's throat. But, there was a few lighter moments, that I found out of character for her.

The plotline is decent, but it lacks a lot, and doesn't explain much. This is the first time where the unanimous decision that there are plotholes is agreeable. Why? 85 minutes. The time flew right by, and that's cool, but they didn't explain enough. I could have used more time to explain more. Perhaps a lot was chopped out to make for just some slim movie for the simple-minded to enjoy, or perhaps they felt Elektra would take off, and they would have plenty of time to retell the story. I can't answer that. I'm not the filmmaker, and I can only assume we won't see another chapter in this story.

All of the major things that plagued Catwoman are not present in Elektra. The costume is not even a part of the movie except for the opening and closing fight scenes. Most of the story is telling the story, but what action we get is great. Anyone who loves a movie like Hero and House of Flying Daggers would probably enjoy the fight scenes here. They're not as visually stunning, but they are really well done. They're not as CGI as Hero fight scenes, but like I said, still well done.

The characters outside of Elektra are fairly good, but I didn't like Goran WhatsHisNamefromER that much. He looked out of his element. The girl is all right, nothing to write home about. I liked the character, and how she was quite similar to Elektra. That was fine. The bad guys are all good ideas, but none stand out as the lead villain. And you need a lead villain! Perhaps the ensemble of villains did work better than a too-clever-for-their-own-good big baddie, like Sharon Stone in Catwoman.

So, what can I really say? I was actually shocked at how good the movie was, but there were a few problems that stood out, such as a short running time, a few plotholes/lack of explanations, and sometimes it does feel a bit rushed. I don't know... it's a toss-up for me. I'm afraid to give it an A-, because people will think that it's really a gift. Giving this a B would really be too low, because it's not that average at all. For now, I'll stick with a B+, but it could go either way right now. Depends on a second viewing.

Imagine if Elektra had a mask on, it would of been so much better.

Nah. It wouldn't have. It just would've made it worse. Now if Catwoman had a mask...

What's that you say? She did. Oh...nevermind then. Guess nothing could save that film.

One of the worst movies I've ever seen. ALL of the actors were horrible, the action boring, the story just bad.. EVERYTHING about this movie sucked. Daredevil is a bloody masterpiece compared to this piece of crap. Like a bad b-movie. D-

The first half is boring as hell, and it was at D status, but then the action kicked in, and it got somewhat better. Jennifer Garner is great in her role. The visuals are stunning, and on occasion beautiful. The plot really goes nowhere though, and the story is laughable, but that is what to expect with a typical superhero film. It's nowhere as entertaining as the two Tomb Raider films. I cannot forgive this film for its terrible pacing. For the first half nothing happens, and the action is non-existent, and it tends to get very boring, and I didn't like that one little bit. I like action movies, that have a great opening sequence, and it starts off with a bang. This movie didn't have it, and even the ending was unsatifying. The action sequences are way too short, and you can hardly ever see what is going on. I thought the camera work needed major improvements. The final fight with the lead villian Kirigi was great though, and I loved it. This film was quickly reaching B- status after that battle, but after she just throws her sai and destroys the female villian Typhoid, it lingered at C+ status, and it never reached any higher. I wanted a bitch fight, and I was very disappointed by this anti climax. It's not a bad movie, but its nothing amazing. It is however still better than Catwoman, and that is good enough for me.

C+

The peformance of Elektra is not only a testament to critical clout; but it also shows how critic concious the movie going audience actually is - people all seem to wanna be critics today instead of actually enjoying a film on its own merits, which why whenever a film that gives the illusion of high quality & prestiege appears, the movie going audience flocks. Kill Bill 2 anyone? Man On Fire? If a film can emulate the criteria of critical acclaim then people give it good WOM anyway. Films like Elektra have publicically bad reviews and that makes up the minds for a lot of people, especially considering Catwoman is still so fresh in everyones minds. Did Elektra ever really have a chance at good reviews anyway?

Elektra sure as hell refered to other source material, but it was really quite good, lots of fun action, beautiful, and i mean beautifully dark cinematography and a unique feel made it one of the most refreshing actioners of late ; I don't give a fuck who calls me bias because I, of course, am. Jennifer Garner definately raised it from being a visual treat with some cool scenes into a solid movie all round. Shes very watchable indeed.

6.9/10 [B]

Elektra is one of Marvel's worst outings, but it is still by far not the terrible movie many make it out to be. Is it flawed? EXTREMELY. But it's still fun. Yes, Elektra is as clichéd as they come, the villains achieve the highest level of blandness and the storyline can be written down on a bubblegum wrapping paper. But as I said, it is still fun and never boring, unlike Fantastic Four. Jennifer Garner is still the perfect choice for the role and she is still the highlight. I also liked Terrence Stamp's short appearance as Stick. I'm interested in the Director's Cut...

im glad you liked Garner in it Lecter. She needs to be in more movies. I hope her post-alias break isn't too long, because she's long due to get up there with the best of them

Thats the main plus of Alias ending, the cast members, who are all hugely talented, get to pursue new things.

Might be up there with Tomb Raider 2 as the most coma inducing action movie ever made.

Everyone is so stonefaced and serious which immediately puts the movie on the backfoot, i mean this movie has a person that can hurt you with their breath for christ sake. If that doesn't tell you that a little bit of light relief and levity is in order I don't know what does.

The whole central story was impossible to invest in as well due to the teenage girl being about as enjoyable as a rat coming up the toilet while your taking a dump. Bratty and insolent to an infuriating degree its no wonder Garner looks pissed off for almost the entire running time.

Only good thing in this debacle is Garner looks indecently beautiful. That red costume yowsers.

Might be the worst superhero movie ever.

Catwoman was at least silly entertainment.
