 Super Bowl Sunday (2/4) Numbers
To give Plot a break:
1. Super Bowl XLI (CBS) - 41.4/62
2. Criminal Minds (CBS) - 15.5/26
3. ABC - 3.3/5
4. NBC - 2.5/4
5. FOX - 2.1/3
6. The CW - 1.0/1
Half Hour breakdown of the Super Bowl:
7:00 p.m. 41.1/62
7:30 p.m. 42.3/62
8:00 p.m. 42.5/61
8:30 p.m. 43.9/61
9:00 p.m. 44.9/62
9:30 p.m. 45.0/62
Criminal Minds is down 29% from Grey's Anatomy's 22.0/35 from last year. That went on to get 37.9M, so that would equal 26.9M for CM.
The national ratings will be posted at 1:30ET.

Oh, and here's what Berman said about whether CBS should regret airing CM after the Super Bowl:
Quote: CBS should totally regret it. Considering how much it seems to love How I Met Your Mother, this would have given it a boost. I would have paired HIMYM with The Rules of Engagement.
He actually said something smart for once. I like this new direction of his.

Pairing CM with the SB was kinda dumb. What does this say about our society when a gruesome show like CM is considered a perfect fit with the SB, which is the epitome of mainstream American culture.

It's amazing how something that seemed like a good idea at first can look so stupid in retrospect.
HIMYM would've made a much, much better pairing, especially considering the episode that they were going to air (Which airs tonight instead) looked funny as hell, AND it's an easy-to-market episode during the Super Bowl, since the plot IS the Super Bowl.

It doesn't include Chicago, so it will go up, without doubt. And it is apparently nearly identical numbers to last year.

It scares me the numbers went higher as the game went on. I guess people really wanted to see that Kevin Federline commercial, because the game quality sure as hell wasn't there.

It was one of the most boring SB games i can remember. I changed the channel and watched The Longest Yard instead.

Yeah, it was a really dull game and the commercials sucked to boot.

I can't help but think CBS is already regretting having put CM after the Superbowl. I would have gone with the new show Rules of Engagement (which has the same title as a movie starring Samuel L. Jackson and Tommy Lee Jones).

Yeah, or Amazing Race: All Stars as X suggested.
I see Engagement being a hit regardless though... the post Two and a Half Men slot can't fail for it.

Boring SB? Hardly. With the rain, the turnovers, Groswman wuckin it and the halftime show, I thought it was one of the better ones.

I thought it was a decent game and that the overall presentation of the superbowl was one of the best. The anthem was okay not great, the team intros were average but the first half was very exciting and I missed the first TD. Look what can happen in just a few seconds. I didn't watch many commercials past the 2nd quarter but did enjoy the beard combover and the doritos commercials. I thought the highlight for me was the halftime perfomance of Prince which is one of the most exciting and memorable ones for me. After that didn't catch to much but bits of the last 10 minutes. It also surprised me that the Bears just gave in during the last 90 seconds instead of at least attempting to go for a score or make something happen. Don't they realize football games can swing with one play no matter how far improbable? Ninety seconds of play is like three minutes for a player like Peyton so I think the Bears should have at least tried even with Grossman as QB.

I laugh in the general direction of Criminal Minds. Sorry, CBS, no Grey's Anatomy Part 2 here.
No, but, seriously. From the minute I heard CBS was going to air Criminal Minds in the slot, I couldn't believe what a boneheaded move it was. Like I said yesterday, who in their right mind is going to want to watching something so sadistic and gruesome right after the Super Bowl?
And as Jon said, How I Met Your Mother is airing a frigging episode ABOUT THE SUPER BOWL tonight. Idiots.

Apparently since they were among the final contenders to get the spot (And CBS's boneheaded decision to wait until December to announce), they had to write up an episode that they could air after the Super Bowl, and since they were so far along when CM got the spot, they did it anyway. I'm happy that they are, because that looks funny.
I'd also guess most of CBS Monday was in contention, since The Class had that Football legend I can't remember, 2.5Men had Brooke Shields, Rules of Engagement is premiering and CSI: Miami is the first of a two-parter where a member apparently gets gunned down or something big.

Having watched the first three minutes of CM last night, I can honestly say that NOTHING hooked me enough to keep watching. They couldn't even try? At all? At least GA tried and succeeded last year.

Finally, viewership numbers are in: http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr/con ... 8c34bdcef6
Super Bowl XLI - 93.1M (Third largest audience of all time, behind only the MASH series finale and Super Bowl XXX)
Criminal Minds - 26.2M (Could be better, could be worse - but mostly better)

I think the SB is gonna keep staying at a steady level at around 90 mil viewers...
It seems to be pretty popular

Quite large for the SB, hehe.
You know what's funny? House got more viewers out of Idol than Criminal Minds did out of the Superbowl. Burn CBS.
I bet if House airs out of the Superbowl next year, it gets like 40 mil viewers. Though honestly Fox would do better to give the slot to a show that needs it.

Heh, you're right. That makes me happy.
I'm going to consider this karma, considering Criminal Minds started beating Lost.

Well, it really aired out of the post game show. Marc won't give up those numbers, though, for some reason.
And Fox would be very stupid to air House out of the Superbowl. If they have any new shows that last past November sweeps, they should air something new.

I think Bones would be a good choice. It's a decent hit that could be bigger, and unlike CM and 90% of crime shows it's actually pretty light. That, or a comedy, but most of their comedies suck right now ('Til Death? The Simpsons/other animated show AGAIN?).
EDIT: Or yeah, debut a new show. A good one, I mean.

If I remember correctly, Super Bowl XXX aired on NBC (Cowboys vs. Steelers) and had Friends as the show after.
Hmm, I wonder what caused that show to become so popular?

Funny thing is, most people consider the episode that aired after it to be one of the show's worst episodes. Funny how that works.

I think Bones would be a good choice if it wasn't, like... the most generic crime drama on television. If they improved it, with Boreanez I honestly think it could be a hit for Fox, but it just isn't all that interesting. They need to pump up the humor like they've been advertising lately. Otherwise a lot of people will tune in, and won't visit anymore... It's a lesser budgeted and refined version of all CBS's shows. Maybe they should go with 24... would make a lot of people here happy, heh.
