If you're going to fake a winner, at least come into the thread and say "Dreamgirls won" or "The Departed won", because those are ones people would actually start flipping out over in possible belief. Not saying Little Miss Sunshine can't win, but it's not expected to, generally speaking.
But boy, if Little Miss Sunshine did win, that'd be freaking awesome.
Peace,
Mike.

i guess im an attention whore.
mostly, i just want jamie foxx's ego to stop increasing at an exponential rate. if that means going after dreamgirls, than so be it. levy does it for lesser reasons, why can't i?
besides, babel gets picked on enough.

I think in about half an hour or so, based on last year. But it could be longer, I guess.

Bah, Happy Feet was better. This pretty much conforms Oscar #3 for Pixar.

I was originally (a while ago) thinking Happy Feet would cruise to the win, but Cars winning both the BFCA and Globe convinced me Pixar was going to strike once again with the PGA and the Oscars.
Peace,
Mike.

Happy Feet was too weird.
But Cars was pretty unremarkable, so....

I thought Cars was very sweet and good-natured, plus it had spectacular animation.
Happy Feet would've been wonderful if it hadn't derailed in its final act, instead it just settled for "solid."

Hopefully the drugged-out baby boomers at the Academy will vote for it. I'm sure it looks really pretty hen you're whacked out.

Yep, look like it's no joke.
I'm ecstatic!!! I'm pulling for either The Queen or LMS.
LMS has to be considered a possibility for the win now, unless it's not nominated on Tuesday.

Is this like the friggin' widest open race ever?? I mean, people were just talking about how if there is a lone director nominee, the LMS directors would be out. Now suddenly LMS wins PGA! The Departed won BFCA, and Dreamgirls and BFCA each took a Globe. This is too crazy.
Peace,
Mike.

Even with probably the smallest number of nominations among BP contenders, LMS could win 3 out of 4 big guilds (PGA + SAG Ensemble + WGA).
The race just turns very very interesting. BFCA, GG, and PGA gave us four different winners.

Call it overreacting if you must, but doesn't this make Dreamgirls toast? It can't win SAG (Could it really beat LMS now?), and I doubt Condon would be the one to beat Scorsese.
Now, it's LMS vs. Departed, methinks.

Dreamgirls isn't going to win a single major guild now, I don't think.
PGA = Little Miss Sunshine
DGA = Martin Scorsese, The Departed
SAG (Ensemble) = Little Miss Sunshine? The Departed?
WGA (Original) = Little Miss Sunshine? The Queen?
WGA (Adapted) = The Departed
Man, this is fun.
Peace,
Mike.

LMS still needs to get a best director. Otherwise, it could just have four nominations (picture, screenplay, supporting actor, and supporting actress). But in this wild season, nothing will surprise me anymore.
On the other hand, could LMS actually miss BD at this point with the support people have shown, including DGA? I can't see it. If anybody got bumped in BD, I think it'll be Condon.

Can Little Miss Sunshine do what Lost in Translation and Sideways and As Good As It Gets couldn't?
The Departed will own.

What can Little Miss Sunshine get nominated for at the Oscars? Will it "have enough" for a Best Picture win?
Best Picture
Best Director (is Condon now the shaky 5th slot?)
Best Supporting Actor - Alan Arkin
Best Supporting Actress - Abigail Breslin (now that this seems to have big support?)
Best Original Screenplay (frontrunner to win this now over The Queen and Babel?)
Can it get anything else other than those? But with all those majors, it seems like it's in a good position if it gets them all.
Peace,
Mike.

I have never been so anxious for the Oscar nominations in a long, long time, and for the Oscar ceremony for that matter. Who the heck is going to win? The only thing we have left really is the DGA and the SAG to make a big impact and indicate anything. Then it's just waiting for the Oscars.
Peace,
Mike.
