My post from Friday at this time:

"As of 10AM EST, Eragon at 152 written reviews."

So at 123...it is 81% thus far.

Not going to be a 1-1 correlation between the movies due to a number of factors. But good to see it's matching up.

How does RB have an F avg. when all the user grades are in the A range?

Probably because the grading system is clogged along with the overall reviews. We'll see the grade change eventually.

Kenspy already posted the answers on the last page:

The F is due to only 1 rating, which must have been an F.

But that is obviously not what the reviews are saying. "Scanning the written reviews, I would guesstimate the average grade at an A/B+."

There must be something wrong with the average rating. Perhaps it is manually calculated and the guy forgot that a movie is opening on Wednesday?

I mean there are at least 100 A or A+ reviews and they only count 1 F review? That makes no sense. Boo Yahoo movies. BOOOOO!

:)

Considering that this is doing nearly as good as Eragon, and its a Wed is phenomenal so far, I think a 5 million openening day is the low end right now.

Looks like some early afternoon shows got out. I would expect this to pick up a little more tonight.

Not really sold out. I did a crowd report thread at imdb and they were averaging 20 people per show. Some of them said they ditched school or something to see it

Notfabio's first report indicates very similar business to World Trade Center so far.

Hopefully it picks up and has a huge spike at night time. Doing WTC would only mean a 4.5 million opening day. The crowd reports picked up better just now doubling the earlier morning report with one sold out show of course near philly

don't forget though, World Trade Centre opened on a Summer Wednesday.. while some schools are out, Rocky's target audience has been in work all day, or Christmas shopping... it should pic up more at night, I believe. Also, World Trade Centre had many seniors attending during the day if I remember correctly.. shouldn't be the same here...

On HSX someone sais that DHD reported on Night at the Museum.. but I dont know what DHD is... can anyone help?
EDIT: nevermind, I figured it out.. deadline hollywood

I think DHD is certaintly putting alot of biasness in their report. They just admitted that Rocky would do better expected due to the matinees(their bad tracking its forgivable) but then Nikki goes ahead and says this "I wish Stallone would shut his mouth during interviews. It makes him look like a fool". And yes not learning their lesson, they are still saying "their box office guru" told them that Rocky will be #3, ok thats somewhat forgivable. But no they are not just predicting Pursuit to be ahead of Rocky but Dreamgirls playing in 800 theaters ahead of Rocky too. I think someone in their clearly hates Rocky to distort the numbers. I cant see Dreamgirls ahead of Rocky. I dont trust them at this point

I agree. They are lowballing Rocky. She correctly calls Night at the Museum the "giant Christmas movie of the year," but Rocky should be #2. I mean NATM is going to be huge, but by the same indicators she discusses, Rocky is having strong matinee sales.

And this reviews thread shows Rocky to be doing massive. The pace has slowed down because it was pulled from the front page. Only on there a short while, compared to Eragon. So the ratio should be much lower than Eragon. Perhaps in the 50's, like Thunder said. That would already make it an almost $5 million day. If reviews stream in tonight like crazy, perhaps the ratio would go a little higher, we'll see.

And for the World Trade Center comparison, like somebody said, you have to factor in that Rocky's audience is at work. Some high schools and colleges that are off (or kids ditching *cough cough* Z_____ ) will mean that some teens went to the daytime showings. But the 20's-50's male crowd that is the bulk of the fanboy audience won't be going until tonight. So early reports confirm that Rocky is ahead of schedule, while it is a nighttime movie.

If Yahoo reviews slow down significantly tonight, and it only ends with 300-to-mid-300's, I would be a little antsy about it being huge and #2 for the 3-day weekend or not. But if it hits 400+, it should have a higher ratio, but be a really good sign for its box office.

A $4.5 million opening day for Rocky Balboa would be solid. Contrary to the Yahoo grade, I would assume that word-of-mouth is actually pretty good, which would be enough to carry it well into January. The reviews are certainly encouraging, anyway.

Well the movie is picking up I made a thread for the crowd report here although there might be a chance of exaggeration from Rocky goggles.

Eragon had approximately 430 written reviews at this time last Friday, and I remember it being on the frontpage for a bit longer.

81% of Eragon. Again, I don't think this is going to translate 1-1, but at least it's some sort of comparison.
