DiCaprio hasn't been winning because he's been in the LEAD actor category. Once you stick a lead actor in a supporting category, the chances for that person of winning are high.

Interesting enough, the one other place where DiCaprio was stuck in Supporting Actor as well was the Satellites, and he WON it there.
