I liked The Queen clip.

It was such a great performance (and a very strong film)...

It didn't make me want to slit my wrists. So maybe that's what passes for wonderfully funny at these awards?

Babel will be shut out.

But, honestly, I'm happy. The Painted Veil is higher on my top ten list than Babel . Alexandre Desplat's score was the best of 2006.

DiCaprio hasn't been winning because he's been in the LEAD actor category. Once you stick a lead actor in a supporting category, the chances for that person of winning are high.

Interesting enough, the one other place where DiCaprio was stuck in Supporting Actor as well was the Satellites, and he WON it there.

Murphy wasn't nominated, he is nominated and is winning in other places, and will be one of the frontrunners for the Academy award after tonight. By no means is Leo a sure thing for Supporting Award at SAG.

That's why I said "pretty much" a sure thing. My point about the Satellite win was to point out to you that as soon as DiCaprio is moved to the Supporting Actor category, he gains a significant advantage. Murphy is not the only Supporting Actor out there, DiCaprio didn't have to win it.

Furthermore, DiCaprio was double nominated at the SAGS for both Lead Actor and Supporting Actor, showing how the SAGS admire him this year. I think it pushes further strength into it. Leo also has no fellow The Departed actors in the category to split votes with.

Peace,
Mike.
