Yep, unless NBC moves Medium, I would bet this is the last season for it. Given the option, I'm certain viewers will choose Lost over Medium.

Medium really should just be back at its old time slot of Mondays at 10. I don't really know why they didn't decide to move Studio 60 somewhere else.

Considering NBC shook up its fall schedule like a snow globe last May when they found out the competition for Studio 60 on Thursdays, I don't see the problem with changing their schedule a bit more. They have a few shows that could potentially grow in a different time period (the aforementioned Medium and Studio 60). And if they didn't, then they cancel them. Simple as that.

The problem with this move is this show at least used to be considered a family show, it even won an award as best family show on TV about a year ago. It would probably be better off at 7pm, perhaps on a different night.

7pm?! I hope you don't mean EST.

Oh dear god, that would be the worst possible thing for it.
And, also...I'm not sure how much of a family show Lost is, with its moderate violence and heavy nature.

Whoa whoa, my tv time system is vastly different from the ones already reported...
What time was Lost on before? Is this an hour earlier, or an hour later.

Smart to avoid AI but 10pm feels like such a weird timeslot to out Lost in. I think CSI:NY will provide just as much competition as CM. Their averages are exactly the same (16.4m). Lost will shed some viewers from this move but I think it would be less than the amount they'd lose going up against Idol.
Lost's average now stands at 17.06 million viewers. I expect it to drop to around 15.5-16 million by season's end.
And after watching Heroes last night, I came to a personally unsettling realization: I could seriously care less if they ever brought back Lost. I didn't realize how much I haven't enjoyed Season 3 till it was gone. I'm one of the very few who thought Season 2 was spectacular but I gotta say, at least for me, they seriously f*cked it up with this whole others prison thing and none of the other castaway storylines are that interesting either.

I definitley agree, I loved S2 and never understood the hate, but in S3 the general drop and dislike feelings finally caught up to me. I still like Lost, but it's kind of out of my top 5 shows now. I still can't believe they made Kate say "Live together, die alone"... I laughed at the show at that moment, sad. Show has just gotten kind of stale, they can't really make the flashbacks exciting anymore as we already know everything, they're running out of room to push the island mystery storylines, bleh. Lost kind of feels like mid OC Season 2 at this point for me, where I'm still watching, but the once love for it is running mighty thin... I may not stick around for Season 4.

Does this make Lost the first show ever to be in all three timeslots of one night?
I'd say this is a pretty good move. Not only because it gets it away from CM and AI, but also because now it doesn't have to worry about lead-outs, which have been a problem. Now all people have to follow Lost is their local news.
As for the comedy block, it'll probably flop after AI returns, but apparently Knights was the best new comedy this fall, so I hope ABC gives it chance, especially considering how crappy their other comedies are right now.
As for the show's quality, I'm holding out hope that the first six episodes weren't engaging because they were afraid of getting in too deep before pulling people away for 3 months.

I don't get the complaints. The first six episodes of season three have been infinately more compelling to me than Heroes.

Lost definitely does have a strong following with families, so the 10 pm move will hurt it I think.

Hmm, not for me, but then again I love Heroes!
As for the six episodes, I thought they were pretty good. I had little to no complaints.

Interesting. Lost's creators/producers are already planning an end date to avoid any X Files-ish staleness:

Or they could just make the writing better. I wouldn't care if it went on for a long time with no final conclusion if more things actually happened and the quality of writing was better. Bring back the t-rex type monster, bring back the prophecy type stuff about claire's baby, have the characters do logical things like map the island, cut down on flashbacks, that's really all people want, or at least all I want. If it was fun like that it can go on for 10 years and no final answers as far as I'm concerned.
Thanks for the link.

I still don't believe that for a second. Unless ratings hit a major low (which is a possibility, if this three-month break did more harm than good), I think they'll keep pulling this "end before we're bad" card, right into Seasons 7, 8 or 9. Either that, or the network will continue it without Lindelof and Cuse, and to a far lesser extent, Abrams.

I'm with Archie, run the show for 9 seasons for all I care. I just want a quality show.
I'm not sure what's being aired on ABC but it sure as hell isnt the Lost I started to watch in 2004.
As for the big spoiler that's circulating, seems desperate.
Is that...
[spoil]The Jack dying spoiler? Because that would have worked better when it was originally planned: the pilot.[/spoil]

No kidding.
I'm disappointed so there were so many cries of 'we want more answerz!!! give us now!!" during the high point of the series, because really in my opinion what the show lived off of was the mystery, and lure of the unknown and the mystical power of the island. When they tried to explain everything, that's when the show got stale... They're pretty much jumping the shark when they say "We're going to set an end date so we don't get stale," because really, that's not going to prevent where the show is going... it's already there. They need to revamp.
Oh and by the way...
[spoil]I don't want Jack to die. I actually think he's come off better than anyone this season, he seems to be one of the few characters who's shown up to play this season. His flashback was probably the best, the scenes with Julie have been relatively intriguing, and the end cliffhanger I thought looks to work pretty well. The guy has grown on me.[/spoil]
I kind of hope they move away from The Others. Now you could say they have so much invested in them up to this point in the season that that'll be hard, but maybe by episode 13-14 a second arc could begin. Get the show invested in the lostaway castaways again, the mystery and power of the island and why they're there, bring up some new stuff. They've missed on The Others storyline pretty badly. Gale in S2 was fun, these guys... not so much. They made them too brutish, too primal. They should've gone the route of really creepy and insane dystopia-esque, like they pull castaways in and do experiments on them while playing stringing clown music, scenes shown in snippets. That would've been interesting.

I wish they would. Take Kate, Jack and Sawyer with them. If Sun, Locke and Jin became the main three, that would work for me.

I Am Jack's... wrote: What would be shocking is to simply kill off most if not all of The Others. That's how you reboot.
I could easily see that going down. The season is almost building towards something where the Originals take down the Others. Maybe not in that way, but if the Originals set up something to blow 'em all to smithereens, we can get away from this Others stuff.
And before Libs comes in, fists-a-flyin', telling us Lost is still good, I don't hate the season like some do. But, I do wish there were significant changes (and surprising changes).

Just make the other island sink into the sea. But I guess you'd still have some residual others left on the main island.
