Deep Impact
Deep ImpactQuote: Deep Impact is a 1998 disaster/science-fiction-drama film released by Paramount Pictures and DreamWorks in the United States on May 8, 1998. The film was directed by Mimi Leder, and stars Elijah Wood, Téa Leoni, Morgan Freeman, and Robert Duvall. The plot describes the attempts to prepare for and destroy a comet, which is expected to collide with the Earth and cause a mass extinction.
Another "space impact" film, Armageddon, was released about two months after Deep Impact in the United States. Deep Impact was lauded by astronomers as being more scientifically accurate, but Armageddon fared better at the box office. They were about equally received by critics (Armageddon scoring 41% and Deep Impact scoring 46% on the Tomatometer).

Decent movie. B+
The scene at the end seems all too real now after the Tsunami

My favorite disaster movie. Intensely emotional, something missing from many films of the like.

I really like this one. I'm with Rouge - it was a great film, very emotional and more than your typical disaster flick.

I thought this movie was very good. It was extremely sad. Especially the part at the end with Tea Leoni and her father.

The best of all the recent disaster flicks. Director Mimi Leder should do some more action films. I grade it a B.

It was decent, but not the best disaster flick. A huge step up from The Core, though.

Nothing special. Day After Tomorrow is much better.

Far superior to Armageddon because it takes a more real look at the humans. But it still isn't an outstanding movie. (C+)

My 10,0000th view of this movie and its still an A-. Great. Emotional character study in a devestating situation.

This was probably the best of the disaster flicks of the last 10 years quality wise, but lacked the entertainment value of The Day After Tomorrow.

You guys are serious in that you found The Day After Tomorrow; a film that never actually engaged the audience with characters once, more entertaining than a film that did nothing but?
Deep Impact combined the classic blockbuster elements with a compelling storyline and interesting characters.

DAT was immensly more fun, that's what I usually seek in blockbusters.
Deep Impact's "drama" didn't work for me whatsoever, so what I was left with were the weak storyline.

DAT is one of the worst disaster films I have ever seen.
DEEP IMPACT is excellent, for what it is. B+

I gave DEEP IMPACT an "A" for the sheer fact that it came off a little more somber, realistic and quite a display of desperation as to what would happen in a situation like this compared to the Bruce Willis Cowboy flick ARMEGEDDON which was as laughable as it get's.. The tidal wave in DEEP IMPACT was also probably one of the more realistic scenes as well..
