Joe wrote: Kind of surprised but not entirely that The Holiday didn't do better. I finally saw it yesterday and while decent (Winslet is a very good actor) some of the lines are so corny and false that one wonders how Myers didn't see that sometime during the process of making the movie. Plus, knowing all we know about Jude Law, it's awfully hard to accept him as a guy who reads parenting books, let alone is the one raising two kids. In real life, it seems he would be more likely to run out on his wife, leaving her to take care of the kids. Jack Black was actually fine in the movie, although he did get annoying at times. Eli Wallach and Winslet fared the best.

Actually, from all the reports on Jude. He may have cheated on his girlfriend who was also cheating on him as well, but that he is an excellent father to his children. That's all the man ever talks about is his kids when he goes on those talk shows. And seriously, I don't know anyone who would turn down someone who looked like Cameron or Jude for sex. Even if they just meant them.

I doubt they're right, and projecting them based on past history or early reports. I'll wait til Tomorrow for better estimates.

Bit late, but the cast is definitley the reason The Holiday fell below Something's Gotta Give and What Women Want. All 4 of those actors combined are nowhere near a Nicholson or a Gibson.

for what it's worth, DHD just posted a article saying that Dreamgirls looks like it could go as high as 5-6 million for opening day. As much as we all revile the source, they are pretty acurate in terms of daily box office...

DHD is decent for early information, although their projections for the weekend are usually awful.

If it hits $6 million, that is around a $7,000 pta. Not bad at all.
