WOWSERS for Dreamgirls. That is incredible. Very nice for Night at the Museum as well. I guess Rocky is holding nicely and we can now get an understanding of what it will do. After it's stellar opening, I really thought it would do 20 mill OW but it should be at 30 mill after today. I guess a 70 mill final would be nice for it. As for some of the others, Good Shepherd, not to bad either.

I don't think Children of Men is going to do that well. In the two big theatres it was playing in LA, when I checked online, no showings were sold out while movies like Blood Diamond had late afternoon showings sold out.

I could be wrong though.

WOW @ Dreamgirls. Almost 10,000 PTA. At least their year+ long marketing payed off!

I wonder how much NATM is going to end up with.

The first two were probably bumped out as a result of Black Christmas and Dreamgirls. Children of Men's unlikely to make the top ten because it's only playing at 15 theatres. Which means I get to pull a Dolce and ask "any news on Children of Men's numbers?" every few minutes.

Which reminds me, any news on Children of Men's numbers?

I didn't think COM would make the top 10, that wasn't the nature of my question. I'm just wondering if anyone had any news on it.

HOLLLLY.

$10K PTA for Dreamgirls?! Jesus. I wonder how frontloaded it is, though.

Excellent for Night at the Museum, which is definitely heading for at least $175M total. Also solid for Black Christmas, The Pursuit of Happyness and The Good Shepherd.

And Rocky. Same average as Godo Shep.

CHILDREN OF MEN $139,279 from 12 of the 16 locations. Animosity Reign's theatre was the weakest location for it of the 12.

Quite good for Black Christmas considering its lackluster count and marketing.

An $11,000 screen average? That's not... great... but okay!

Cheers, notfabio. Where'd you get the numbers from?

EDI. The other 4 locations didn't report yet but are likely less than 5000 each since they aren't high profile.

The Grove was the top location at just over $19,000. A NY theatre did just over $17,000 for #2.

With a multiplier similar to The Producers (Which opened last last on Christmas) it would finish with $106M. And that was a film that got mediocre reviews with no Oscar chances and lost over half its theaters by the 5th week of theatrical release. So, that's probably on the low side of likely scenarios.

Or, if you want to be unlogically cynical, you cold compare it to Ali, which with a similar multiplier it wouldn't even pass $50M. But that's honestly impossible.

And for a single day, that's quite good for CoM. It's not exactly the kind of film you go out to see on Christmas (Though the plot of a birth saving the world is oddly comparable. . .:|)

Abosultely earth shattering horrible for charlottes web.

I like the fact that F4:ROTSS teaser is attached to a HIT movie and not flop like elektra.
