That's terrible for ROCKY and on the radio right now, there discussing why this movie didn't open better than what it did for a movie so good and a character so popular.. Perhaps times have changed and people are merely looking at this as ROCKY 6 and in the back of their mind, there thinking who's he gonna fight now?? Retirement?? This was bound to happen and I called it a month ago.. Now I'm 5/500 on my box office predicting.. :hahaha:

As much as I wanted it to bomb, it just isn't...yet. That is a decent hold for a Wednesday start for a film that was bound to be frontloaded to some extent. As long as it ends up north of $60 million (which is fairly certain), it won't be a "bomb" especially given the budget ... I'd actually say anything north of $50 million precludes it from being a "bomb".

Once again, when you look at how much thes movie's opened up to in the 80's, practically tripling the Wed opening, this has to be deemed piss poor..

I'll wait until Tuesday to make that sort of a judgement. Right now I'd say it is doing decent. Though, I still think this is a long dead franchise that should have been left as such. ;)

I have an odd question BKB. Which station do you listen to where they discussing opening day, esp non weekend numbers. Is it a local station in St. Louis or is it XM/Sirius?

When St.Louis BLUES Hockey(Which the Blues suck out loud right now) aren't playing, 550 AM KTRS has a show they play in it's spot called HIP ENTERTAINMENT from 9:00-12:00 AM with Joe Hipperson(How catchy) and they were discussing why this movie didn't open better.. The host of the show loved the movie but invited callers to call in and offer explanations as to why the movie didn't open to like 20 Million or so in it's 1st day like they did back in the 80's and the thing of it is, is that alot of people just aren't taking this seriously cause in their minds, it's still ROCKY 6, no matter what.. Below is a fine example of a review that sort of expresses how many people feel about this..

BKB, I love ya man, I really do. But if you honestly think a 6 mill OD is shit, then I'm sorry to say that you don't really get box office numbers. Sorry friend. There is no way in hell this film was ever going to open with a 10 mill OD. It doesn't have the fans anymore, and as you alluded to, many of the fans are going to have to be coaxed back to the theaters. I honestly hoped for a 4 mill OD, and the fact that it dropped less than 50% the next day is a good sign. People will go eventually once they hear how good it is, and with the Christmas season pretty here now for the next 10 days, you can count on it making at least 70 mill. How that is bad is beyond me. You can also count on this doping about 150-200 WW. Not bad for a 24 mill dolllar film, with an aging scren vet who hasn't had a hit in 13 years.

I suppose I'm stuck to much in the 80's when these movie's opened much higher and sort of can't help but to feel that way..

Yea, I'm stuck there too. But even if this film makes 50-60 mill here and a total of 130-150 WW, that is a huge feat considering how much everyone hated the fifth.
