Dreamgirls Will Win Best Picture (Closed For Repairs)
Author Message
Post
Baba is full of shit. Seriously, I listen to a lot of weird rationales about movie grades but his problem with Dreamgirls is laughable.

The Hollywood Reporter.

The Variety one is a rave, but THR's is not. I think RT will be more around 75% instead of higher. BP is no sure thing, and BD looks very unlikely. Hudson's win is locked though; she is raved everywhere.

Did you guys hear about this?

To introduce the film to younger audiences, DreamWorks has quietly spent close to $250,000 funding high school productions of the original play, paying for estate licensing fees.

92 at metacritic!! (with 4 reviews in)

maybe people will start believing now? :P

i know the score will definitely go down but thats still great.

So Hudson is the frontrunner for supp. actress right now and i still say the same about the movie (for picture).

The soundtrack is on iTunes.

Unsurprisingly, Jennifer Hudson's "And I'm Telling You I'm Not Going" is stupendous.

I wonder if the recent controversy will hurt murphy's chances.

grades from critics in NSFC.

Charles Taylor from Salon is kind of an extreme grader: plenty of 100s, but also some very low grades (20 for Dreamgirls, 0 for The Good German).

NSFC uses the score each critic officially sent, so they could be different than MC's assigned ones.

Guys...

I'm starting to doubt Dreamgirls.

I am.

The average of 63 is pretty fair for Dreamgirls.

I'm beginning to think Dreamgirls will have trouble being nominated.

The way I see it

It hasn't shown up at any of the guilds, minus Jennifer Hudson.

Eddie Murphy isn't even winning anything.

Not a good sign so far, and United 93 and Little Miss Sunshine are right up its ass considering the last 2 noms.

I could be wrong, but I don't remember Chicago exactly sweeping the early critics awards either.

I'm not saying Dreamgirls won't be nominated for Best Picture. It probably still will.

I'm just saying, and mark my words (actually don't, this is just a hunch)...

Dreamgirls is not winning.

Yes, it only won a few.

Up to 92% now at RT, with the only rotten from Hollywood Reporter that isn't really a negative. And 8.0 average. More than enough to win.
