Best Animated Picture: The Incredibles vs. Shrek 2
Okay, I don't think the third nominee will really matter (I believe it'll be The Polar Express) because these two animated movies obviously ruled the year.
Whcih one do you expect to win?
As of now, I'd go with The Incredibles. It might not have such a high box-office gross as Shrek 2, but $250+ million is nothing to complain over. The reviews and the general appreciation is much better and Shrek's original has won, so I give it a slight edge.
Any opinions?

I still have to see Incredibles and I was planning for tongiht, but I'm going to pass it over for the Aviator....
But, it just seems that Incredibles buzz has died down and it never soared like Nemo did. I think shrek 2 was most defintely the bigger success story of the year and (though I can't judge) possibly the better movie? I don't.... I have to see Incredibles to make a full judgement....

The Incredibles is pretty much a lock, the only thing that can prevent it from winning is the fact that Shrek 2's the year's biggest film at the box office.

I was kindof dissappointed with The Incredibles. After Finding Nemo, I was expecting so much more. I was not dissappoint in any way with Shrek 2
So my vote is for Shrek 2

The Incredibles will win, and rightfully so. It was much better than Shrek 2 was.

The Incredibles is winning all the animated awards so far, so I don't see how it can lose to Shrek 2. Should be two years in a row for Pixar.
I expect Hayao Miyazaki's Howl's Moving Castle to win next year. Looks as good as Spirited Away.

A friend of mine saw it already and he said that it is good, really good, but somewhat worse than Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke.

I was a big Shrek 2 supporter all year, but once The Incredibles started showing up on critics end of the year top 10 lists... goodbye.
The Incredibles will win. I had a better time at Shrek 2 in the theater, but Incredibles is in many ways the superior film.

Shrek 2 was in the 90's at RT but I think it is forgotten about with the Incredibles out now.

The Incredibles has a 96% on Rotten Tomatoes and Shrek 2 has a 90%.
Both are great. Shrek 1 won over Monsters, Inc. (I thought Monsters Inc. was better). I doubt it will win again. It's already been rewarded in the Box Office and although it is good, it is not the great new thing Shrek 1 was. Incredibles was a major achievement, both in story and in technology (it's even one of the longest animated films) and I think the animators will reward it, as they should.
The third film will either be Polar Express or, if Disney can manage it, Home on the Range, neither of which have the slightest chance.

I voted for Incredibles in a last ditch effort that the Academy will pick quality over box office. But I have a painful feeling it'll go to Shrek 2. :?
I would love it if some little film that grossed under 10 million like Spirited Away or Tripleetes walked away with the crown instead of Shrek, but I don't think there really is one this year. SPongebob??? Nickelodeon has to go back to Wild Thornberry type feature length films and not just these extended tv shows.

The Annie nominations are for:
The Incredibles
Ghost in the Shell 2
Spongebob SquarePants
Shrek 2
So the animation community (many of whom will vote in the Oscars) ignored both Polar Express and Home on the Range!

I liked Shrek 2 a lot, but The Incredibles deserves it more.
