An open letter that no one will read

1) Don't make it a direct sequel. Bond 22 would be the first direct sequel ever in the franchise. Let's not continue this breaking of tradition.

2) Bring R into the fold.

3) Hire a well known singer/band for the theme song. I'll even give you a list to choose from: U2, Robbie Williams, Radiohead, Depeche Mode, Bjork, Whitney Houston, Paul McCartney, Elvis Costello, Jarvis Cocker, Oasis.

4) Let Daniel Craig have fun.

5) Hot Bond girls. Note: Eva Green is not hot.

6) Invisible car. I loved that invisible car.

Translation: I'm uncomfortable with the changes. Can we move it more towards the other Bonds, please?

R was eventually promoted to Q status but I would be ok with keeping him as R. There's only one Q.

I'm uncomfortable with changes that ruin the essence of a franchise.

WHAT? She was perfect.

Loyal wants the movies to go back to the humorous era of the Roger Moore movies, except this time he wants Daniel Craig to surf down a volcano while it's erupting. And then he wants another torture scene except he wants it in the style of Roger Moore. So it would probably go something like this:

Moore: Fully clothed in khaki safari suit, but bare footed. One eyebrow is arched anxiously, the other is lowered. He looks mildly disinterested, but also strangely alert. A Sheen of Max Factor Cosmetic Perspiration Number Five glistens on his brow. He inclines his head slightly and addresses Le Chiffre:

“Now look, my good man, surely we can come to some arrangement…”

“Just give me the number, Mr Bond.”

“Well…would any number do? I can give you the number of my tailor…”

Comedy slap in groin with knotted rope ensues replete with bell sound effect.

Bond smiles disarmingly. “Missed the middle wicket, it seems, Mr Le Chiffre.”

Le Chiffre groans and turns to the camera: “You know, there’s a lot to be said for just shooting someone.”

Seriously, there's a reason why Casino Royale is loved by most people who are not part of the ADD generation and also why you will never direct a Bond film.

I've been watching Bond films longer than you've been forming sentences.

I'm no casual fan. I won't be fooled by a Batman Begins dressed up as a Bond film. Year One antics aren't welcomed in the Bond world.

Whitney Houston should do the next Bond song.

Go ahead and assume that I'm some 15 year old kid, hell what I do care. Clearly you want this franchise to stick with the stupidity of DAD fold. Why the hell would you be afraid for change, what's wrong with change? The franchise has gotten stale to the point where the writers have to use an invisible car as a plot gimmick. Change is good for a series that is going onto it's 22 film. Change is even better when the new character resembles Flemming's vision of Bond closer than any film before. Only Dalton's Bond resembled the real Bond.

I like how some people consider Casino Royale the new standard for Bond, and all other Bonds pale in comparison. Well, you know? Casino Royale is nothing like the last 20. Not even close. Essentially, it's not even Bond. They should have just created a new character all together. And you can go ahead and reply, "but you liked Die Another Day...", but at least that felt like a Bond film, but with more ridiculous gadgets. Casino Royale is definitely a good film and I enjoyed the different imagining of a Bond film, but it's not the trademark Bond. It sounds like some of you (Speevy and Dark Shape, especially) think every Bond film before Royale was complete garbage.

I did not like DAD, but that was the first Bond film I'd ever watched (yeah, I know.......)

At any rate while I liked Casino Royale, I, for one, thought it was way, way, way too dark, and I wouldn't mind a return to a more lighthearted style.

I laugh at the DAD agrument, I really do. Arsi and I talked about it on our podcast.

It's better to compare Casino Royale to Goldeneye than Die Another Day. The reason:

both films featured first time Bonds
both films were directed by Martin Campbell
both films were attempts to reintroduce the Bond franchise.

Somehow Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson forgot that a new Bond film doesn't have to exist outside of franchise canon.

I would like to see Cleese being brought back into the fold but the problem which may occur with Bond 22 is that it either has to keep up the serious face or go super fun camp. half and half would really clash badly against each other based on Royale's evidence.

Stop your nonsense, loyal. Who cares if Casino Royale is nothing like the other 20 Bond films that created this franchise. Change is good. This is the real Bond, the last 20 were just showing us how not to make a Bond film. D'uh.

No, I don't. But I realize not all Bond films are equal to others. Compare Moonraker to Licence to Kill in terms of tone. Die Another Day felt like Moonraker. Casino Royale felt like From Russia With Love.
