 Oscar Predictions
I figured I'd post a thread here, too. We launched the Oscar prediction section tonight.

Hope it's useful or at least entertaining.

I'm going to get Dreamgirls into your top 5 if it kills me.

The movie and Condon are sitting there are #6. Just waiting for the reviews. The Good German, Pursuit of Happyness, Good Shepherd, etc... I'm just waiting for something more than internet hype. I did give the actors in the supporting categories some high marks, though.
Dreamgirls will challenge The Departed if it goes over well.

Noticed a typo: "It's Marty's year. There is absolutely know way they'll deny him yet again."
I could understand not putting Little Miss Sunshine in BP top 10 as the others mentioned certainly all have shots; how to rank them is just a difference in opinions. However, I definitely believe Michael Sheen deserves a place in the top 10 in the supporting actor category.
Derek Luke is pretty much out of it with its film disappearing from the theaters this weekend and merely decent reviews, but the category is weak, so couldn't really say who to take his place yet.

Could you possibly put the films the actors are in?

oops...I'll fix that type.
I actually think everybody below the top 5 is out of the race in the Best Actor category, but I don't feel box office matters as much as you do. Iris is a good example. 77% at RT with a 7.1 rating. It received a Best Actress nom for Dame Judi, Best Supporting Actress nom for Kate Winslet, and a Best Supporting Actor WIN for Jim Broadbent. That was despite a pitiful $5,594,617 at the box office. They just don't focus on it all that much, especially for acting categories.
I had Michael Sheen at one point and then removed him when I picked my snub.
Torrino, I had the films listed but arsi asked me to remove them.

On the Queen's BP, is the word recall typed incorrectly, The best reviewed live action film that I recall won't be denied a nom.

Are you asking if it's spelled wrong or if it's inappropriately used in a grammar sense?

Thanks, mav.
ARSI, do you know how confusing it is to just see an actor's name? What about people like Leo? Don't be silly, list the movie names.

Leo's actually works
"Two strong performances this year make Leo a MAJOR contender"
but I'd agree the other performances need a reference point.

sorry you are correct as I read if too fast and thinking the word was wrong. I was trying to throw a different word in there like "bet" but now I understand recall or "remember".

The pictures are from the films, if that helps. (except for about 3 or 4 that I would need to do a screen print from the trailer to get a good shot.) I've had about 5 hours of sleep in the last 3 days (no exaggeration), so I can't do anything tonight, but I do agree with arsi on one point, it looks much better without the movie titles listed from an appearance perspective. We don't have a great deal of width to deal with, so it made the charts look more clunky and unappealing looking.

I can try to work the film title into the commentary for each actor, actress, and director, but again, it only gives me so much space to work with, so it wouldn't be easy.

then again, like i said right at the beginning ... i'm not an oscar guy and won't control the content on it. i just thought it was a better idea not having it ... but if it is, then you guys know better than me

Joe Pesci's role in The Good Shepherd supposedly last for only a minute, so sadly he doesn't have a chance at a nomination.
