Yeah I actually watched The Class again and it was an improvement over the pilot (not a huge one).
If every character on the show was as funny as Lizzy Caplan's, I would probably watch regularly, but...
Every other character grinded the show to a halt (the bland Joey ripoff and the bland blonde woman's romance, etc.)

That actually was a bit of a weak episode of The Class, by the way... probably the weakest after the first 2 episodes, though still obviously a huge improvement. It was missing the gay storyline and Yokom last night, and they tried to go back to the Duncan/Nicole romance which just doesn't work yet. Caplin and Ritter still worked great though.

Most of what I saw last night was Ritter and Kaplan, and that's what I liked about the show. I only saw one or two other scenes involving other characters, and I didn't laugh once. Too bad they couldn't ditch the rest of the "class" for just Kaplan and Ritter (moreso Kaplan).

The Class was seriously very very good tonight. Up there with the best of 2.5 Men, and good HIMYM episodes. A- material.

I suddenly realize that I look forward to watching The Class more than any other show on tv during the week, with One Tree Hill not counted because it has to be downloaded every epi. I feel somehow enraptured by it, I know it's not the best sitcom, but... I have to watch it. Moreso than Heroes, The Amazing Race, HIMYM.
I feel like the bradley or makeshift of television, my top 2 shows are universally hated.

Let's go to the mall!
Heh.
Man I love HIMYM, I hope CBS does the right thing and gives this the post-Super Bowl spot it deserves (since I don't know if that Craig Ferguson thing is even true).

I do agree. HIMYM has the potential to go from a decently watched sitcom to a top dog, with Super Bowl help... it has huge potential if enough people have the chance to catch on. It really is the current schedule's reincarnation of Friends/Will and Grace, for the sake of sitcoms it'd be a good thing if this explodes. Yes, if any sitcom is going to evolve a 20 mil+ hit and return to form for the genre anytime soon, it's How I Met Your Mother in the next couple years.

I'm going to start watchin HIMYM and it will be the first show I will put effort into watching on CBS since Survivor in its second year.
IS there any ongoing storyline I should know about. I don't now anything about this show.
And is this it's second season?

Oh you're going to live, it is wonderful
Yes, second season
Umm, ongoing storylines...
Barney (Neil Patrick Harris) doesn't have one, he's just kind of awesome
Lily (Alyson Hannigan) and Marshall (Jason Segel) were a long-time couple that were going to get married, broke up over the "hiatus" after Lily went to San Francisco, but then just got back together
Ted AKA the Main Character (Josh Radner) is dating Robin (Cobie Smulders), who he has liked since the beginning of the first season. However, Ted is narrating the entire series to his kids about 20 years into the future in the story of how he met their mother, and he referred to Robin as "Aunt Robin" (like Aunt Lily, Uncle Marshall, Uncle Barney, etc), so they haven't really made it clear how that will work out.
It's actually slightly complicated for a sitcom, but the show is totally awesome. The only thing to come close to Friends since that ended.

Hmm... I was under the impression all this time that Neil Patrick Harris was the lead.

As far as comparisons to Friends, yes it is similar in the light comedy area. Though The Office is like 5 or 6 episodes from having an episode like the one where Ross said "you're over me? when were you under me?" So they win the Friends 2.0 award in that dramatic/romantic area.

HIMYM was pretty great tonight, especially the music video.
Class was decent, but one of the weakest episodes since the pilot... wtf are they doing giving Caplin and Ritter so little screentime, he had like one line. I think they need to trim the cast a bit at this point, so characters don't get left behind in episodes... the gay storyline doesn't even interconnect with the others, at all.

Robin Sparkles Myspace Page
So, is this just an extension of the spoof or was there actually a singer? I didn't really go through the whole page.
edit: lol, I think it is all a spoof. and it's freakin hillarious.
I'm gonna rock your body anyway. Gonna rock your body till Canada Day!

I still can't get into HIMYM.
I watched last week's, where they go to Atlantic City or whatever for the elopement.
No laughs for me.

I didn't find last week's that good either. The show has problems whenever it gets too soapy or sincere, but it's been less of that this season in general.

Good night for the 2 shows. HIMYM probably had the most in-depth Barney episode yet, and I loved it... NPH nailed it. I've always like Wayne Brady too, so yeah.
But as good as that was, The Class BROUGHT IT tonight. I find the show can be hit and miss, sometimes like in the first couple episodes or the last one it can miss, but when it hits it, it really hits it. Really I think the more and more they bring these characters together like in this episode, the better it will become... for example the gay/Holly storyline doesn't work that greatly on it's own, but if you put her as comic relief on the side of the other storylines, it's gold. Ditto for the Duncan/Nicole thing, if they devote storylines completley to their soap, it doesn't work... but if you weave it with the rest of the cast, I'd bet it'd jump out and improve tremendously.
The entire set-up and special concept of this episode was perfect, it was like their own little Seinfield Chinese restaurant episode, though admittingly the show is not on that level yet. I think this episode was better than anything HIMYM has done so far in it's 2 seasons, I love the former show and I think it's one of the more fun watches on tv, but at the end of the day it's typical sitcom... this has so much more room to stretch with it's storylines, characters, technique.

HIMYM wasn't very funny but The Class was excellent. The show is often more drama than comedy but it works because the cast interplay is fantastic. They're far more likeable than the HIMYM cast, which is often too self-centered and annoying.

The Class pwned once again tonight. I didn't see the episode before this, but I don't doubt its quality, the show is on a roll. It's hard to believe this spawned from that disgusting pilot, it's now easily the best sitcom since Friends ended.
If CBS cancels it after one season... I'll be pissed.

By the way, did anyone know Lizzy Caplin was Janis in Mean Girls? I had no idea, I caught it off her imdb page.
I've decided to make this show my new bitch until OTH comes back. Woot.

The Class ends its season in February, unfortunately. A renewal is still up in the air.

Tonight's episode showed CBS made the very, very, very wrong choice in who to air after the Super Bowl. God I need to watch HIMYM more often.
