Now there are 170 Top Ten Lists....

and so far....

Sideways is on 102 of them with 30 #1's!
Eternal Sunshine is second with 91 top ten mentions and 17 #1's!
then we have Before sunset in third place with 75 top ten lists and 14 #1's!

I know that Before sunset is finally deserving what it should, but honestly, I never thought it would!

I am very happy for Eternal Sunshine. I completely thought it would be forgotten, but it's obvious it has not been.

I still maintain it has a good chance at getting a Best Picture nom. Infact, I'm wanting to start saying it WILL get a picture nom. I might create a thread in the the near future to solidify my prediction on these forums, because I think I'm going to be right.

PEACE, Mike ;)

I would die if Sunshine gets a Best Picture nomination. I guess it's possible.

It has more of a chance then Closer at this point.

Oh...I definitely think SUNSHINE will get a nomination. The momentum's definitely there and being on so many Top 10 Lists is getting it a lot more attention.

I'm so thrilled to see my #1 (BEFORE SUNSET), #2 (SIDEWAYS) and #4 (ETERNAL SUNSHINE) films of the year getting so much attention. SIDEWAYS was becoming a monster, but I honestly didn't think a month ago that SUNSHINE would be remembered and I thought BEFORE SUNSET would be thought of as a "too small". I didn't really expect my #3 film (KILL BILL, VOL. 2) to be in the Top 10, but am happily surprised that it's being feted!

One film I'm surprised to see in the Top 30...THE SADDEST MUSIC IN THE WORLD. God that film frustrated me! I gave up on it after about 45 minutes and shut it off. I always stick movies that I'm disliking out till the bitter end...but I couldn't even do that with this one!

Like in the Best Picture thread said, I seriously think Eternal Sunshine gets nominated and has even a chance to win. Would love to see that and I think this time it could happen.

Looks very good with 170 lists. 3 out of the top 5 are in for sure, and another one could sneak in as well. This is going to be a very strong lineup, and we won't see another A Beautiful Mind fiasco for sure. Whichever wins will have strong support from the critics and general public. Here are the IMDb scores for the contenders at this point:

The Aviator - 8.0, 906 votes, 44.5% 10's
Million Dollar Baby - 8.3, 273 votes, 60.4% 10's
Sideways - 8.2, 2734 votes, 32.3% 10's
Finding Neverland - 8.4, 4889 votes, 56.1% 10's (#224)
Hotel Rwanda - 8.1, 176 votes, 55.7% 10's
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind - 8.6, 31019 votes, 46.6% 10's (#33)
Ray - 8.1, 2612 votes, 36.8% 10's

He's not a critic, but Stephen King listed his top ten movies in the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly. I didn't buy it, I was just reading it in Wal-Mart  so I can't remember perfectly. His choice for number 1?

Maria, Full Of Grace

And number 2? Just what you would expect from Stephen King....

Dawn Of The Dead!

To be honest, I had an amazingly fun time watching Torque... me and my friends laughed our asses off at how weird and crazy it was. If you look at it on DVD in slow-mo, there's so many weird random things that make no sense. In big brawls there are guys that look 250 pounds screaming as they're thrown 30 feet in the air by other guys. Maybe it was intentionally that weird and they just didn't let us know about it, but I enjoyed it more then either of the Fast and the Furious movies and even xXx.

Maybe, considering it's in both IMDb's bottom 100 list and some critics' top 10 lists. :)

Haha, some Warner Bros. marketing guy even struck up a deal with me to post my "A-" review of it that essentially said it was incredibly stupid but just as entertaining onto several forums, and in exchange I got a free poster of it (we then kept doing that, with The Big Bounce and Starsky and Hutch, but I lost contact with him after I got banned... :()

Engin's site is updated to 242 lists now. The top 5 are unchanged. Hotel Rwanda cracked top 20.

I just mean that you liked The Fast and The Furious, no? And if so, then how is Torque any worse?

I expect Hotel Rwanda to eventually crack the TOP 10.

Wow, Eternal Sunshine got a nice boost of #1's on lists. Before this last update, Sideways had 30 #1's and Eternal Sunshine had 17. Now it's 39 for Sideways and 31 for Eternal Sunshine.

Sideways, Eternal Sunshine, and Before Sunset are all clearly pulling ahead of the rest.

Finding Neverland and Hotel Rwanda finally cracked the top 20. Both of them have a better chance of being nominated for Best Pic at the Oscars than Ray, in my opinion.

PEACE, Mike ;)

Finding Neverland was in the top 20 earlier, so it's actually fading a little as well. Wouldn't it be something if Eternal Sunshine and Hotel Rwanda take the last two spots?

I think it's very possible. Hell, Ray may even triumph over Hotel Rwanda in theory.

Ebert has great choices for both lists, and bad choices for both. Well, bad for mostly the worst. The Grudge, The Kranks and Girl Next Door are far from the worst. But, he nailed it with Troy and Alexander.
