Geesh, I'm just jealous Scott got a three page thread about his writing style. I would have killed for something similar...meant people actually read the works at least.
Ok. The pros: People are clearly voracious readers of the main site b.o. articles.
The cons: That means you're going to need to take the writing more seriously.
I never took less than two hours on a review, usually longer. So, Scott, if you're writing these in one sitting, or in an hour, than you need to slow down. Put it aside, re-read, sometimes reading paragraphs not in order, or reading out loud, helps catch errors, excessive style tricks, unintended offenses, etc. I do it, and it works pretty well. Sometimes I'll also do the edits in a diffferent "space" like a different computer or print it out and read it on paper sitting somewhere other than where you wrote it. These things really help one evolve as a writer.
Cheers, main site readers, and thanks for the input

When I was writing reviews for a gaming site, before I submitted them I had somebody else read them... usually my brother or wife (both teachers). Not only would it help with grammatical errors, but it also helped with the quality of the content. They'd frequently point out when I wasn't as funny as I thought I was (which wasn't often, mind you).

well, if we learned anything, it's that it doesn't pay to be dark skinned (sorry BJ).

All over now, but I'll agree the dark comment really did bother me, it may not have offended me, but it just had no place in that article, and appeared overly rascist. I know Scott is a good guy, but strangers to this site would find that downright unnecessary. The issue seems to have been handled, but I'll just chime in that yes, the puns were quite excessive, and I don't know about others, but I really don't need too much writing when it comes to a box office prediction article, but I always love a good in-depth analysis on the weekend estimates. I wouldn't worry about it Scott, and while I agree with Torri that there needed to be a change in how that article was written, I think he was being overly mean-spirited in his calling for the removal of Scott as writer. He's done a lot for this site.

No... you caught me! That never happened... I'm always as funny as I think. I can't slip nothing past you, Dolce.

I basically have to agree that...
The comment wasn't racist, "that man has dark skin!" is far from it, he was just making a pun about that aspect...
BUT
Yeah, the articles need more professionalism.

I doubt he knew that. What's your disability, if you don't mind?

Well the article looks better...sorta:
Quote: But, with increased theater <strike>counts</strike> and print counts (with most megaplexes giving it 3+ screens), the per <strike>screen</strike> theater average should rise slightly higher, to about $11,400, which will give this gorefest a $36.1 million opening weekend<strike> , </strike> making it the 15th largest opening weekend for an R rated movie. Quote: Tim Robbins and Derek Luke star in Phillip Noyce's latest political thriller , Catch a Fire, which shoots it's way into 1305 <strike>locales</strike> locations. Focus Features <strike>have</strike> has done very well with controversial films in the past, <strike>like</strike> such as The Constant Gardener. Though the subject matter is a bit dark, the story looks very effective. It should have mass appeal and good reviews won't hurt it either. Though it won't do as big as Constant Gardener, it should get a solid pta thanks to its African American appeal, good story, positive reviews, and the modest release pattern. A per <strike>screen</strike> theater average in the mid $4000 range should result, giving the drama a $6 million opening weekend. Quote: Expanding to 586 theatres is Evan Rachel Wood's and Gweneth Paltrow's Running With Scissors. Despite a solid $28,263 per theater average <strike>it got</strike> earned from 8 <strike>screens</strike> theaters last weekend, it should have <strike>a bit of</strike> a harder time expanding <strike>thanks</strike> due to mixed reviews and a premise that is too quirky for the general moviegoing crowd. Other movies with similar release patterns, but with better reviews, have suffered in the past (I Heart Huckabees, Punch Drunk Love, Squid and the Whale, The Science of Sleep, etc). Because of a such a wide expansion, the pta should drop at least 80%, which puts the per screen average in the $5,000 range. It should end up with $3.1 million by the time the weekend is through. Quote: As for holdovers, Departed will once again <strike> , </strike> suffer a sub 30% decline thanks to <strike>the</strike> positive word of mouth <strike>, </strike> and not as much competition as last weekend. The Prestige will slip a bit thanks the middling audience grades and a small Saturday increase. As for Flags of our Fathers, yes, it will have a low decline, but that's only because of the 300+ increase in <strike>the</strike> its theater count. The per <strike>screen</strike> theater average should drop closer to 40%, similar to The Prestige. Open Season once again <strike>, </strike> remains the choice for kids <strike> , </strike> so it should post the lowest decline in the top ten. Though it didn't open as big as Dreamer, the drop for the sophmore weekend should be similar for the family film Flicka. Grudge <strike>II</strike> 2 will see its business <strike>sawed</strike> cut in half, but with Halloween around the corner, the drop will be lower than last weekend. Marie Antoinette should drop harshly as well <strike>, </strike> thanks to a lukewarm respone from audiences.

Oh yeah...
And while the article was not exactly well written, I don't think it deserved a thread from da torri like this. Scott has contributed a lot to this site and I think attacking him in that manner wasn't a wise choice. Could have been done much better if you were seriously concerned about the site.

Maybe you should take the bowl, because you're a friggin' idiot. Sure, you might come back and say something like " the difference between me and you is i know i'm an annoying troll and you don't," but you've already used that line. Think of something new for a change. YOU AIN'T SHIT.
As far as productiveness goes, this thread was CLEARLY productive, as it removed an offensive, badly written article from the main site that likely would've been ignored. Can you say that you've ever added anything to the site, besides giving us someone to laugh at? You're fucking lame. You're a single security guard in his 40s or something, who stays up 'till 4 am BY HIMSELF on the weekend, bashing kids half his age with twice his intelligence. Are you proud that your house probably reeks of jizz, jizz that you made without the company of anyone, including that next door neighbor of yours who probably doesn't exist? Hell, you're the 40-year-old who fucking took something NEO_WOLF wrote (his Spider-Man 2 review) and put your name on it. If you're gonna plagiarize, why don't you fucking plagiarize someone intelligent? Not fucking neo_wolf. Not to mention, you're 40-years-old. Shouldn't you be able to be honest and write your own shit by now?
You're the kind of character who makes the internet creepy. We deal with you because every once and a while you say something funny, but you're as much of a tired act as I am. I bitch because it's the only thing I do here - I don't spend my time browsing KJ anymore, I only come to KJ when someone IMs me and is like "hahaha look at these idiots fighting hahahahaha" or "hahaha look what this racist bastard wrote" AND that's why you only see me bitching, because the only threads I'm looking at are the ones where people are ASKING to be made fun of. You can't really talk about site contribution, because at least I get things done.
Oh, I made a thread yesterday that was cool up until RogueONE ruined it with his cynical bullshit.
And I don't have long hair, punk. Unless you're bald, I'm betting my hair's MUCH BETTER KEPT than yours.

I've got a say torri and Scott, that both of you need to grow the fuck up.
Scott, you probably didn't mean to offend anyone, but know your audience.
torri, you could of pointed this out by not making such a public statement. But then again, your boring life is all about theatrics. I gotta say your the most overbearing piece of shit, I have ever encountred on this site. Sure, i've have problems with 90% of this site, but your the only fucking reason why this site is really fucking unenjoyable. BKB says that you haven't made 1 decent thread in God's know how long, well I can't really say he's wrong there but to say maybe you should aim for your first decent post first. You're a sad pathetic fuck.
