Does anyone pull a rabbit out of a hat?

I would love for acting noms across the board. Both actors take up about the same amount of screen time, whether it would be considered lead or supporting.

Why not? Are there any things that you can pinpoint that could have been significantly improved upon? Any technicalities you disliked? Or was it your being spoiled by previous films and seeing the "twist" before you should have? Or is Half Nelson just THAT good?

Half Nelson will be hard to top.

I didnt have enough of a emotional reaction to The Prestige for it to pull of a #1 on the list. But it's hard to deny the strength of its pop spectacle. Had I not seen the "twist" coming, maybe that would have been the knock to the gut I needed to rank it higher.

And yes, Half Nelson was that good. And so was Little Miss Sunshine. And Unknown White Male.

It's hard to imagine any true film lover not digging the hell out of it. It's maybe the first hollywood film I've seen with this level of indie sensibility.

Is Scarlet Johanson as underwhelming and unimpressive as she's been in her last few films?

Her part is a glorified cameo. But she's so damn beautiful, I wanted to see more of her.

Did the movie pay homage to David Blaine, Copperfield and Seigfried & Roy?

No.

But Dr. Frankenstein and Seth Brundle should look for royalty checks.

Bale is more like Logan in The Prestige whereas Jackman is more like Bruce.

Kris Tapley appearently hated it. And this is a guy who didn't blink in making Batman begins his #3 film last year.

Damn, both Variety and Reporter give it a thumbs down.

Judging from just the quote used for Reporters review it seems his big thing is that the movie has no heart, the leads are cold, you have nobody to really root for.......... so?

I did say there was no emotional connect.

I just want you to know that this has been stewing in my mind since I first read it, and its pretty much sent my anticipation through the roof.

I'm a Crypt fiend, so any comparisons made to it get me jacked up really fast.
