Pretty bad. Jessica Simpson is probably the worst actress ever. The whole point of having her in the film was just so that they can have her boobs busting out of her shirt in every shot she was in. Dane Cook, however, was surprisingly good in his role. I actually believed him as the character he was playing. I've only heard a bit of one of his comedy CDs and never understood the Dane Cook craze, but I must say, I am a little interesting now. But back on topic, the story just dragged on, especially since it's evident from the beginning that Amy is going to end up with Zack and not Vince -- she goes out on a date with Vince in the very beginning of the film and it's 100% clear that she hates him. It also wasn't very funny -- I laughed three or four times throughout the whole film. I don't know. I wanted to see The Departed, but I got outvoted and got stuck with this. Huge disappoint although I wasn't expecting much anyway.

It's not a horrible movie, but it's far from great. I particularily enjoyed Zack (Dane Cook) and his friends (Andy Dick, Harland Williams, and Brian George). I would have preferred more of the film devoted to the group, but surprisingly enough, all three of Zack's friends get good screentime in the movie, and provide the better moments.

The film does lack any major laughs. Dax Shepard was decent enough in the villain role, however Jessica Simpson was everything you'd expect her to be. I could have done with less gay jokes toward's Danny Woodburn's "little" brother. Yeah, we got it the first 100 times.

The plotline is just plain ridiculous and predictable, and unlike movies where you know it's supposed to be just plain ridiculous, "Employee" seems to take itself way too seriously. As if the race for "Employee of the Month" would be that important to everyone working within the store. Dane Cook seems like a decent comedian, and could be on his way to being a good leading man of comedy. Better scripts would be nice, though.

Grade: C+

Employee of the Month is good for a couple of chuckles here and there, but since I'm a fan of Dane Cook, I was expecting a lot more. His comedic potential is completely bogged down here.

And how about that completely random nod to GlenGary GlenRoss...........

It's an okay comedy, especially considering how unfunny Dane Cook is (and he still is in this film). I just kinda enjoyed it and got a few laughs out of it. Not much more. B-

I was pleasantly surprised. I expected to hate this film and i ended up liking it quite a bit. Cook is chrming and Simpson isn't totally annoying.

7/10

EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH - 7/10 ( B- )

Better than I was expecting. Dane Cook was really likable and the film itself was quite funny and enjoyable. It's nothing great, but certainly entertaining enough to warrant a rental.

I enjoyed myself. Dane Cook pretty much doesn't play a comedic character, which was probably a missed oppurtunity, but I did really like Dax in this role, and the Dick/Harland/whoever the muslim guy was played by side group was entertaining enough. Simpson probably gives the most bland performance of the year, terrible, there's no depth or anything to like in her character at all. Anyways, not as terrible as it could've been. Mostly forgettable.

And I agree the Glengarry Glen Ross thing was just about the most random, odd reference that I've seen in a while.

<--- Huge fan of Dane Cook since 2000 when he first aired a special on Comedy Central. I've been waiting for a movie starring DC for a long time. He was ultimately wasted, but I still enjoyed him on screen. He has such great charisma that it's hard not to enjoy him. I disagree with whomever said the film took itself too seriously. Dax Sheppard's performance is so completely over the top I could help but laugh at how utterly pathetic his character is. I think the director knows what kind of film he wanted. There wre some faults along the way, but it succeeded in the end. However, there simply were not enough laughs. And at the end fo the day, that's what a comedy is for.
