Dahlia's grade is terrible. Looks like another mess from De Palma.

I still don't get this whole "clogged" thing. Is it just that the site isn't able to update the amount of reviews being posted quick enough? That it might be crashing on those submittals, or what?

Pretty much all of the above. Keep in mind it is a free "feature" of Yahoo and is not designed for the kind
of scrutiny that's placed on it. That they even put the work in to get it as frequently updated
as it is is pretty amazing.

Can't they just design an auto-counter? One that automatically updates a review or grade as its entered? I mean, our polls in the critics sections automatically just adds in the vote number as its placed. Also, notfabio, and others, why is it worse for them now than before? I'd think this has always been an issue, but apparently now its worse. Is it because more people are using the yahoo reviews than before, and the site never updated its approach to handling the new usage numbers?

I'd assume they're auto-uploading, and it's just there is a glitch in the software. And we saw the clogging got worse the last few months because it's used to be if an update at a particular hour is slow (e.g. fewer than 10 reviews for each movie), we would gaurantee to see a big jump the following hour, and the average pace is still consistent; but now we are seeing 3, 4, or 5 consecutive updates where the pace is extremely slow and then it suddently jumped at a random hour.

Hm... I think everything's either doing really well or really poorly.

Little later than I anticipated...but as expected, Black Dahlia is the first thing that pops up on the Yahoo! frontpage as of 5:15 PST

Gridiron Gang 271, +18, B
The Last Kiss 111, 91 Friday, +6, B-

Only The Black Dahlia has an abnormally high number of written reviews. May have to do with the direct front page link to the user review page.

C'mon, Dahlia. I don't want to regret jumping my prediction up to almost $17m at the last second.

I don't think it's looking that good for The Last Kiss, but I'm not entirely sure on that one. Gridiron Gang is doing alright, though it won't come close to $20m, most likely. Everyone's Hero seems to be outperforming all expectations.

I think both The Black Dahlia and Gridiron Gang should be neck-and-neck with around $5-6m on Friday, with the former winning the weekend. Everyone's Hero could make around $2-3m (leading to $7-8m weekend), and I'm not sure on The Last Kiss.

Everyone's Hero 187, +4, B-
Gridiron Gang 332, +8, B
The Last Kiss 140, 120 Friday, +3, B-

The grade for Dahlia continues to drop; and 289 written reviews.

Quite a discouraging grade for The Black Dahlia, but it's doing really well. The number of written reviews is massive in comparsion to the votes, but it doesn't look clogged since the others seem normal. I guess we could theoretically see a $6-7m opening day, although that grade might increase the ratio a bit. It's hard to tell with Gridiron Gang because even if it's not pulling in huge numbers on Yahoo, its massive theater count kind of makes up for it. I still see $5-6m for that, though.

Dahlia's grade isn't great, but its evening pace suggests a lower ratio, even with all the written reviews. It's doing better now than Gridiron Gang, which slowed as I expected. The big surprise is Everyone's Hero. Unless we see an abnormal ratio (slightly possible if Reeve fans drive it up), it could make $2-3M today.

I think being on the frontpage did help Dahlia since there is no old/new version confusion now.

There should be another big update coming, but Everyone's Hero is still very frontloaded. It had 90 already at noon PST and only doubled so far.

From the screen reports and especially JMorphins report, it looks like its a slow week for all movies and its reflective from the yahoo reviews. It looks like Black Dahlia will come out on top even if it just makes 5 million on friday and just 12-13 million for the week

Yahoo isn't going to be very useful today. It's almost 1:1 writtern-to-overall review ratio for Dahlia.

Agreed. It doesn't appear to be consistent with the theater reports. We may have a wacky ratio or two this week.
