Amazing. Is it anyone else's favorite SK film?

I'd give this one an A+.

It's so disturbing at times... but one just has to watch. Such a feast for the senses.

One of the ten worst ever, if not the very worst movie ever made.

A wonderful, disturbing, bizarre masterpiece. The cinematography is amazing and the score remains one of the most memorable ever. Great performances all around (especially Malcolm McDowell).

Apparently not.

Actually, I didn't even know what it was about. I've never seen anything about this film, so I was going in blind.

And going out...

so you hated it? or?

speaking of clockwork, i do not approve of loyal's title... he is anything but a clockwork orange.

if anything, box is the clockwork orange... ironic, considering his disgust for this film...

I wish the people who stated they disliked this film would tell us what exactly they thought was subpar. Right now, it's just unsupported statements such as "This is bad" or "I don't like it because I don't even know what it's about". This kind of treatment definitely doesn't do the film justice.

Not a big fan of Kubrick's style. I've only liked one of his movies. (Dr Strangelove)

Surreal. What an opening shot, and the first half is just stunning. The story got weaker after he entered the prison. Still, a film unlike anything I've seen. A-.

Whoa, I haven't been this disappointed by a movie I was sure I was going to love in a long long time, I'm ashamed of myself.

It was much less batshit than I was expecting, and a lot more long and tiresome. Certainly the first 30 minutes(or however long it took to get to prison) and the eye-opening scenes were brilliant, however, the rest I just couldn't sink into. Maybe I was just tired, but it felt like this movie was 3 hours long, the prison scenes, and a lot of Alex out in the world after being "cured," dragged.

Loved it. The direction by Stanley Kubrick is typically phenomenal, and Malcolm McDowell gives one of the most memorable performances ever. This disturbing and thought-provoking film is a must-see for any film fan.

I was prettyyy harsh and dumb on the film the first time I saw this... I think I was mostly tired, I couldn't enjoy it as much. Expectations got in the way, but I see it a bit more clearly.

This has grown on me TONS. I appreciate the pure vision of it more and more every day. Not one of my favorite Kubricks still, but if I had to give a grade now it'd be closer to A-/B+ than the above grade.

I haven't seen this, though now I'd like to because of Malcolm McDowell.

It's not perfect, but it's pretty close, and it's incredibly visionary and ground-breaking. The first 45 minutes or so is absolutely perfect, and as a result the rest of the film feels slow and disappointing, but it all works together at the end. McDowell is fantastic and Kubrick's twisted direction is expectedly solid. The combination of classical music and that haunting, synthesized score is brilliant, and makes for some of the most memorable moments in cinematic history. "Singin' in the Rain" will never be the same. As stated, the ending is rather weak in comparison to the beginning, and the film does run a bit long, but it's hard to get out of your head once you've watched it. A flawed masterpiece.

trailer i just made

one of my all-time faves. One of the most thought-provoking movies I've ever seen, matched by an equally powerful sense of visual and musical beauty (something noticeable in all of Kubrick's work). Malcom McDowell as Alex was one of the best casting calls ever. A+

yeah, i had trouble figuring that line into the trailer, i tried it in a number of other places where it worked even less. probably should've taken it out.
